The BATSUIT Thread

A "grounded" costume requires real functionality. Unfortunately, every Batman movie costume designer fabricates the suit mainly for appearance on screen with function as an afterthought. Every design requires assembly off screen and multiple suits for specific action sequences. Do you notice that no scene exists where Bruce Wayne actually suits up to become Batman? Such a moment presents a very subtle, powerful transformation for the character. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers features Aragorn preparing for battle at Helm's Deep. The scene requires a few minutes of screen time, but it establishes the tone for that epic battle. In contrast, the Batman director has to simulate a similar scene. The costume requires assembly onto the actor's body in order to look good on screen. The molded folds exemplify the most recent designer's dismissive attitude toward function. Form or visual appeal follows function, but the designers ignore the latter since 1989.
What would you like the suit to look like?

Batman should just sport the cape, cowl and undies. The rest of his nude body should be painted gray. Only that way can we get the skin tight, contour revealing, vein popping look of the comics.

For whatever reason I don't like the idea of the batsuit being a one piece suit

Yeah, i like the idea of Arkham origins and Arkham Knight of Bruce wearing some kind of protection underneath the suit, but making the suit tiself a one piece thing is not what i personally like.
Like i always said, im fan of armor, looking like armor and being a bit "busy" etc.
Some kind of weird one piece looking suit would be a bit weird to me.

Which medium do you enjoy more, the comic books or the videogames?

Neither, i enjoy them to a equal amount, i just have more to enjoy in terms of the comics because of the number of avaliable material...but for me there is no enjoying more or less.

I think this, maybe with the New 52 (I think?) yellow outline around the bat (not an oval, just the bat outline) would be my ideal suit. It's just...a thing of art, really.

It wouldn't work in live action at all. It had its day in the 70s but now... no. Black and grey.

We live in an age where comic book movies maturely portray talking raccoons and trees and Aquaman and Shazam have well-received movies (by audience and critic reviews). A guy in a gray suit and blue cape would be fine. Especially since said guy is Batman.

BvS Batsuit without the ridiculous muscle suit and maybe some light armor ontop.
That would be perfect IMO

Put a blue and grey batsuit in a movie with a similar aesthetic to the Blade Runner films and it'd look amazing.

Lit right... and with a carefully selected shade of blue, the blue and grey suit could work. It’d have to be a darker blue than say Adams would have done, though. Vigilante stalking the shadows does not mix well with a light blue!

But it shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand at all.

The shade of blue used for Captain America's costumes (The Winter Solder > Endgame) would be just perfect.

People can say that it wouldn't work for Batman, and I in turn wouldn't believe them.

That's debatable. Jim Lee's Batman is one of the coolest out there, and his color scheme almost always comes across as blue/grey.

With the right color grading, this would look dope AF.

The only potential knock with blue is that it'd sort of require lenses for the cowl, unless they're comfortable giving the actor blue eye makeup to match.
