The BATSUIT Thread

The black and red footage is not really good to determine the shape especially towards the beginning. The black and white one makes the more blurry parts more visible. In that image you can barely notice Pattinson's jaw whereas in the black and white it's a bit more obvious.
The image you provided is compressed to hell. It means more visual artifacts skew the impression.

I think that if we could get a very very high quality (4K), super brightened up black and white GIF version of that blurry beginning, we could get a better sense.

Watching people comb through different versions of the same image and arguing over what is and isn't there simply because of their own preferences is pretty funny.

Here's the conclusion on the whole matter: we have no freaking idea what the rest of the cowl (or suit) looks like and we won't know until either a) we get a decent set photo or b) they release an official photo of the entire thing.

Not a gif, but this will do for now:

We've had 8 movies with the traditional, straight-lined ears. What's wrong with doing something fresh for at least one movie?

There's nothing wrong with it. Just a personal preference for me. It already seems like they're incorporating a lot of fresh ideas into the suit/cowl and the film itself. I'm always open to new interpretations and depictions of Batman, but I also want what will look the best and it's okay to keep some of the more traditional/familiar elements intact when necessary.

Those 1939 ears are now pretty far removed from the Batman iconography. The much shorter ears on Batfleck's BVS suit were something that hadn't been done since the modern Batman film franchise began in 1989, which helped his cowl look fresh and unique in comparison to the others that came before. In terms Battinson, there are a lot styles/shapes/sizes of ears they could use to make his Batman look fresh, without sticking them outwards and curving them.

Hmm... there has to be a version with less artifact, I'll see if I can find one
I didn't manipulate them anyhow and picked highest quality compression for jpeg. The video is compressed, so these artifacts are native.

I cleaned the image up as best as I could. Let me know what you guys think.

Personally, I'd say it's inconclusive.

But are they? They are still identifiable as Batman ears. It's not like he has antennae on his head - it's just a different style that we've never seen on film before and it gives Batman a much more devilish, creepy silhouette which, again, is fresh.

This cowl is already more removed from Affleck than Affleck was to Bale, simply because it's a leather mask now instead of a sculpted rubber one-piece which is a welcome change. But the ears are the most prominent aspect of the cowl that will differentiate Rob from everybody else. We've seen them long, we've seen them short and we've seen medium length all in style of the traditional straight ears but we've never seen the '39 style.

And angled ears are in no way comparable to Batman wearing a tutu, come on now.

THIS ... all of this

I like the new suit just fine, but I found this interesting

Aside from the cowl, the parts we've seen (chest and shoulders and collar) looks the same.
I'm hoping they didn't screw up the arms and abdominal area and pants in the full design. Hopefully we'll see it when they start shooting in Glasgow.

Looks good but too techy. I hope it’s armored but more lithe, thinner allowing him to be more agile and acrobatic. I think the few things lacking in the prior movies were the lack of agility and acrobatic skills as seen in the comics. I love the cool flips, jumps and other moves he does in fights and like when he’s dodging gunfire. The Justice League cartoon was awesome in depicting Batman’s agility. The movies haven’t been very good in this aspect. I really hope he can move at such ferocious speeds that it’s almost superhuman.

Begins had the right set up in the warehouse before blowing it to **** with crappy horrible cinematography of the actual fight.
