The BATSUIT Thread

I just wish the belt wasn't also black.
Yeah, it is a strange choice considering it is leather. A nice rich, brown or tan leather utility belt would fit the mismatched, homemade aesthetic, break up the monotony of the black and grey, and be a nice homage to the yellow/gold belt in the comics.

Weirdly it's giving me zero year vibes
It's giving me zero interest vibes. :o

Since the initial reveal I've been worried this take would try to out-Nolan Nolan. For the record, The Dark Knight Trilogy is sacred to me, so it's not like I'm not a fan of that, but... That's already been done, and to an incredible standard that has not been met by any other comic book movie(s).

I just can't help but feel this is regressive.

Fanart of the suit. I still don't know what they were thinking with the gauntlets. It's so distracting.

neat art and partially agree with the arrow/dart laden gauntlets. It looks interesting but quite bulky and too thick. If he is going to shoot those arrows from the gauntlets, why not follow the million times better approach of retractable batarang shooters like Azrael

Here a higher quality pic, guys (can see suit details)

Definitely not a good look. I'd rate it at a 3 out of 10.
The cowl looks downright ridiculous. with this lighting the chest plate and shoulder pads just don't work and the "Black Widow" forearm weaponry doesn't look much better with that plastics straps hanging around. The belt is ugly and even the symbol, which i was existed about, doesn't look good with everything else... I mean it all looks like a mismatch.

This has to be the Batmans earlier suit. It looks very home made, without any sort of polish whatsoever... There's faded orange on the symbol so i guess that color detail could be making it's way to the new look, The armour is spray painted black over what looked like it's original green color. The pads, the straps, the dark camouflage, the leathery cowl... it all points to an early prototype look for Batman.

I bet it changes and develops later on into something much better. As it stands it's just plain bad.

Lol wow

This in particular is a really tough image for me. I *LOVE* the Zero Year suit and especially this part of it. It's one of the coolest looks I've ever seen for Batman. The image on the right has absolutely NOTHING on it, despite the obvious influence. Even if we are lucky enough for it to be a "prototype" suit, it's just an absolute eyesore. The mask has got to be the ugliest live action depiction of Batman since the 40s. It's just shameful on so many levels. I have a feeling I'm going to love the performance, and for the love of God, I hope there's a cooler suit out there later on, but in general, this is the crappiest Batman has ever looked on film for as long as I've been watching (which is, in theaters, since 1989).

...I will say though, I'm really into the utility belt. If we are lucky enough to get a "better suit" later in the film, I'm really hoping that he keeps a realistic belt.

Story is King.

From bits and pieces, mostly the confirmed characters we are getting from the first movie...this is exciting as hell. We getting Catwoman, RIddler, Penguin, the mob, possibly hinting at Dent from the get go, maybe even a Robin nod. The most detective Batman story of them all. I can't wait, man. Not regressive at all.

What? Is it written wrong?

Edit: I've edit it. No need to be a correction nazi. :o
Chill bro ... I was just told this type of terminology and language is highly offensive. Reprimanded and everything. Don’t want you to suffer the same fate

What are the orange bits on the chest emblem?

No surprise to anyone here, but I'm into the suit. Obviously this version of it looks a tad wonky in a lot of these still pictures due to it being a stunt variant of the suit and being fan set pics without proper lightning, but as someone else mentioned in the General thread, the cowl actually seems to look pretty great in motion and I'm sure it'll clean it a lot better when we get a proper official look of Pattinson in the main suit instead.

Hopefully we won't have to wait long for Reeves and Co. to release another closer look at Pattinson in the costume.

I imagine he'll be on set tomorrow, so if they don't release it I hope that an image of him in the proper suit leaks.

To address those that are saying 'the TDK suit was overdesigned, this suit isn't" you're wrong. The TDK suit was both intricate and cohesive:

Head to toe, every piece fit with one another, from idea to execution it was so incredibly well done. Sure, some take issue with the linework here, but that definitely doesn't make it 'overdesigned"

Meanwhile, here we have the Reeves suit:

The gauntlets don't seem to fit the Batman aesthetic, are the arrows a replacement for batarangs? I don't understand that choice. The shoulder pads don't go with everything else either. It's like they were so focused on the cowl that they forgot to make everything feel cohesive with it. It's busy and a mess. So disappointed with these set photos. I definitely need to see an official still with Pattinson in the role, but if this is the general layout of the thing, the execution is severely flawed.

Maybe tomorrow, but if they didn't feel the need to drop anything today after the floodgates opened, I'm not sure tomorrow's gonna change anything.

Not gonna lie, this is kind of bang on accurate.

I was saying to anybody who has seen Matt Reeves movies, they’re awesome, the planet of the apes trilogy especially, but it really did seem to try to ape (pun intended) a Nolan esque aesthetic and style of film making.

Regression might not be the accurate word but Nolan derivative would be more on point, for sure.

Trying to out Nolan ... the man himself with the same exact material is an extremely uphill battle.

At the very least I hope tomorrow someone takes a photo of Pattinson in the proper suit.

Many of them folks who are stalking the team in person seem to think Pattinson will film outside in the suit. Today was a mere rehearsal as Reeves wasn't even there. According to them. Eh.
