The BATSUIT Thread

People just have a set look in their mind for this character. I don’t expect the suit to be very baggy on Pattinson anyway, but a loose sleeve may set someone off lol

This is why I didn't get into the whole debacle of calling the suit trash. Is it my ideal batsuit? No, I would've rather gotten something more along the lines of the Arkham City suit. That doesn't mean I'm gonna call it trash and list a bunch of stuff I don't like about it which flat out come down to preference. If nothing else, it looks like Batman and it looks like a unique version of the Batsuit. That's all that really matters. Trying to be more creative with how the batsuit looks should be embraced, in my opinion. It's led to what many consider to be some of the best batsuits we've gotten (Keaton and Begins).

I care far more about characterization than what the suit looks like. so long as it looks like its Batman and doesn't look corny, I'm happy.

And knowing Matt reeves it will be awesome. That said suit looks good and will look even better on screen and in action. It’s a cool take

It is kind of funny all of the fuss around this movie portraying Batman as intelligent and focusing on detective work and he rolls up in a Military style/brawler batsuit.

I’m guessing the arc of this movie will be showing Batman comfortable in the beginning beating the crap out of criminals and not really needing to use his head all that much, then Riddler comes along and challenges Batman on a mental level. So we see Bruce’s journey to aggressive physical crime fighter to having to solve deeper crimes intellectually speaking.

That's normally a storyline that I would expect to involve Joker, but I guess it's time for Riddler to get his chance to shine! :yay:

I never really bought the idea of the suit being designed in a way relative to the type of Batman story. You don't see him wearing a different suit in Detective Comics vs Batman, so I don't see why they'd do it differently for live action. It looks practical, it looks like Batman, it definitely has elements that can help with intimidation (drape the cape over and bingo, he looks like Dracula with bat ears). That's all that matters

Is the stunt actor wearing something over the suit. Here it looks much lighter grey.

It seems to be an effect of the lighting. While the chest plate is missing here, we have a good view of both the undersuit and the shoulder/arm plating under natural light in this photo. The suit (both the fabric under suit and plating) appears to be lighter than we thought under the baseline of natural sunlight. Now at night or with appropriate set lighting, it will likely appear to be a darker grey as we saw in the camera test.

I also have issues with seeing colors sometimes so it's easier for me to be confused.

Yea, that grey looks green too.
It is a warmer grey with a touch of an olive green hue to it, similar to the "field grey" worn by German army troops, so you are not wrong. Depending on how your monitor or screen colour is set, different colour temperatures could really bring out that green-ish element.

I personally really like the tone of grey. It gives its a rugged, slighty dirty, utilitarian vibe to the suit.

Yeah, I like it too. As Time goes on, Im honestly digging the suit more and more. I think its gonna look awesome in the movie.

I was just about to say the very same thing, almost like a military olive green to me.

It's noticeable as well because the gauntlets & jacket he's wearing are both clearly black.

I think it'll probably looks worlds better on Pattinson. Whether that'll be enough for me to like suit itself, we shall see.

The gauntlet spikes have explosive charges in their base and fit double-barreled into shooters on the underside of his wrist in the motorcycle pics. You can also see power cables running down his arms and an wearable computer on his wrist..

This Batman uses a wrist-mounted grappling system

The things Batman has in his gauntlets are Bo-Shurikens.

It's interesting, because in this little detail it kinda gives us the backstory that yes, this Bruce Wayne travelled all around the world learning all sorts of different things and training with ninjas just like the comics.

So maybe we're getting ninja Batman after all

The more I see the suit, the more I dislike it.

I’m so with you. Gunnery Seargent Batman. Thankfully, I really trust RPats. But god damn... of all the people to put into a lithe, elegant spector of the night, perfect silhouette Batman suit, he was the one.

The Bo Shuriken thing is at least theoretically, if not aesthetically cool. They seem to be used exclusively as elements of distraction, which give me some hope that we are getting a very disciplined non-lethal Batman.

Honestly don't know how I feel about the new batsuit. I feel like I'm trying to like it, which is pretty disappointing in of itself. Definitely not love at first sight.

I gotta say though, I'm in the minority and absolutely love the cowl. I've always wanted a buttery leather cowl and it looked sublime in the official test clip. Very similar to Bullseye in the Daredevil suit which I loved. The ears looked weird in the set pics but I'm gonna ignore that for now. They've looked horrendous in some pics and awesome in others, so its yet to be seen.

I'm indifferent to the collar, and I love the symbol and utility belt.

The rest of the suit is iffy. Part of me can't shake the thought that it looks like it belongs on a CW show. I don't mind the tactical look at all, in fact I love it on Cap, Zero Year, Arkham Origins, etc. But for some reason it doesn't look nearly as good as those tactical suits. It doesnt hold a candle to Cap's suit particularly.

I'm disappointed with the color scheme, and I think the shoulder pads and weird gauntlets look BAD. The shoulders look like cheap plastic. It's cool that it seems samurai inspired and all, but it just doesn't look great right now.

I'm still holding out hope that on screen the look will come together. There's still potential for this to be a great batsuit, but so far I'm disappointed.
