The BATSUIT Thread

So maybe we're getting ninja Batman after all
I think that much like Batman in the comics, this Batman will be a combination of everything.
He's the world's greatest detective, but he's also a master engineer that can make his own suit and gadgets, he's an expert tactician, he's a great martial arts fighter trained by ninjas but he can also brawl if given the circumstances, etc.

I’m so with you. Gunnery Seargent Batman. Thankfully, I really trust RPats. But god damn... of all the people to put into a lithe, elegant spector of the night, perfect silhouette Batman suit, he was the one.
So true... a sleek grey and blue suit with an oval would have been absolutely perfect. Instead we get the current dark metal or whatever bull$hit DC is putting out in the comics.

The gauntlet spikes have explosive charges in their base and fit double-barreled into shooters on the underside of his wrist in the motorcycle pics. You can also see power cables running down his arms and an wearable computer on his wrist..

This Batman uses a wrist-mounted grappling system
Hello there, nice to see a name I recognize from another message board I frequent. :yay:

The more I see the suit, the more I dislike it.
I hope to feel better about the suit once we see it in a trailer.

wut.

Also, I guess we wont get any new picks soon, as filming may now be mostly indoors?

The new cowl would have fit a lithe, toned down grey fabric body so well.

Yeah, I feel like that's why the rest of the suit is so jarring. The mask, at least in the close-up shots from the screen test, looks like it would fit a fabric suit because it looks like it's made of leather. But then the suit itself looks like some sort of Samurai body armor. They just don't mesh well together from what I've seen. But maybe it will all come together. I just have to keep reminding myself that the Black Panther suit in Civil War look crappy in the set pics but ended up looking amazing in the film. So hopefully this is a similar case.

It works for me in the sense that the suit was put together with various pieces that didn't necessarily come from the same place. Nolan's suit was similar at a conceptual level, but when all was said and done the suit still had a sense of uniformity to it. I mean the cowl might as well have been a part of the nomex survival suit kit. It had the exact same physical and textural appearance as the suit it went with.

It's a rookie Batman. He's putting together equipment according to what works. Makes perfect sense from a practicality standpoint. From there it's simply a matter of aesthetic preference.

Here’s something I think a lot of you need to hear:

The costume designers of this film know more about the content of this film than you do
.

Like or dislike the costume to your heart’s content. But it’s disingenuous to act as though they’ve made the wrong call when you don’t even know what the movie is yet.

Yeah, I get the logic behind it but right now I'm not digging it. It does make sense that it doesn't look so uniform if the pieces do come from different places. But I think sometimes trying to go too "logical" with Batman can ultimately result in a finished product that is less aesthetically pleasing, even if this is still rookie Batman. I don't know. Maybe I'll grow to love it the more I see of it.

I mean see how the thing looks in the film's context at least. :funny:

EDIT: I'm replying to Sawyer. This isn't a dig at you specifically, Deck.

I love how how leading up to the suit reveal, everyone was saying this won't be another rookie Batman and that he wont retread on Nolan, and now everyone keeps saying this is a rookie Batman similar to Nolan's. :funny:

Back to back trilogies of Year One style Batmen. :hehe: :waa:

Well we went from speculating to having more concrete information. Adjusting accordingly.

He not an 100% a rookie like Nolan's Batman,he still finding himself like the Mcu Spider-man(which Spider-man took completely different path then what Raimi and co did). So no retread of what Nolan did with Batman Begins (which I loved). We get to watch Bruce/Batman go on a journey with these movies while still being fresh with original stories. I can't wait to be honest! Been loving watching Peter become Spider-man over the course of few films and now we get that with Batman! By them being so different we can still enjoy the past Spider-man/Batman films:spidey: :yay::brucebat: .PS sorry the site is making my cell lag like crazy lol

This isn’t year one Batman. It’s year two. He’s not a rookie. He’s young and Reeves said himself that he’s doing a story about the world’s Greatest detective. The suit we see is most likely what he’s been using for the first two years of his mission. Either a second suit will be revealed in this movie or in the sequel.

nah that’s impossible. I’m a Batman fan so what I think is the coolest is just what they should do.

it’s not Year One Batman though. It’s gonna be a different story. A different take. It’s not gonna be like Nolan’s films. The entire crew is different. All of that means a lot.

I don’t really get what you’re trying to say Trav. Yes, he can be an intelligent detective who is challenged in this movie and really proves why he deserves the nickname “worlds greatest detective” after all the **** Riddler/Penguin put him through. While being young, in his second year (past Bale’s Dark Knight era). I feel like a broken record but there’s a way to be more realistic than Nolan and deliver the most accurate comic book Batman to date, at the same time.
