The BATSUIT Thread

Why has almost no one gotten the eye section accurate? There are no lenses, and the sockets are not recessed. It's literally a flush cutout.

All the artists have chosen to not render it properly.

In the edit I posted he doesn't have lenses.

I think, considering what the top is made of, it makes sense for the bottom to be a cargo pants material. Armoring up his legs would restrict movement, and at this point, he’s not thinking in terms of a whole matching suit.

I still hate the suit.

I just don't know why they didn't go grey and blue.

As a kid, I always found myself excited when episodes TNBA instead of BTAS. I wonder if it’s why I’ve always found myself preferring gray & black in later costume designs across different mediums...

I imagine this was a definitive version for a lot of other millennials growing up in the mid/late 90s and early 2000, still bearing in mind that he wore a modified blue version in later JL episodes:

The suit wasn't blue and grey in BTAS. It was black and grey with yellow oval. Much like the comics, blue was a highlighting accent for black. Only in time in comics did it fully turn to the absolutely stupid shade of royal blue. For a night time vigilante, bat monster. Being royal blue, like Big Blue Superman himself, was always absolutely stupid.

Jesus christ. Look at the claw marks on that artwork! What has Bat and Cat been up to!?

I don’t think I’ve seen the one on the left before...

The stitches really doesn't bother any one you? Kinda ruins it for me because I just feel without that stitches line, it would pretty much be perfect and magnificent

The stitches are firmly on my pro's column.

Why? I'm genuinely curious about the appeal. I am just a plain and simple guy though in general. I usually prefer dark shades in a lot of things and don't like lines, stitches, stripes, etc.

A major reason why the Burton suits are still my favorite is because they're sleek and simple looking with black and just two gold or yellow pieces that actually looks great with it. Returns suit is a bit "busy" but not overly done nor too noticeable so it's not distracting.

I will say though that this suit is busy as **** but I overall like for some reason with the stitches on the cowl actually being the worse aspect for me

They're different they set this cowl firmly apart from others.

The stitches work for me because it shows that it was made by bruce and that while its not expertly crafted, it gets the job done for what Bruce is trying to do

The cowl looks like a gimp mask. While the manips are good, the actual armor still looks like a heavy duty armored t-shirt with cargo pants lol. If it actually looked like the manip I'd be more forgiving, but I still hate the actual suit. The manip is the wish.com advertisement, and the movie costume is what you actually get lol.

You haven't even seen a good shot of it in the movie.

Very subtle differences, but which one gets the proportions of the suit and Robert the most correct?

It's definitely the self-made vibes of it. Self-made and hand-made, not excessively "techy", like a lot of the Ryan Meinerding Marvel costumes (which the chest portion kind of is). It's a nice effect to imagine obsessed little Bruce Wayne working hard with a thread and needle to make himself scary.

It reminds me of the look they gave the first Nite Owl in Zach Snyder's Watchmen. Leather and thread, that whole old-timey vigilante vibe. Rough around the edges, in a good way.

The stitches imo work simply from a logic standpoint. There's a suspension of belief that can be applied to everything but its similar in the sense that people were saying Shuri in the MCU is only so smart because she has Vibranium. My argument Vibranium doesn't inherently make you intelligent the same way that Bruce being rich and still a genius doesnt mean that he'd inherently know how to make a fully functional and cohesive Cowl two years into his career. He'd focus on Functionality over aesthetic.
