So let me get this straight, Reeves after working at that suit for 1 year is going throw it away after 20 minutes, i don't buy it

Thing is, if the suit can take a gunshot to the chest with barely a scratch, I don't see a fireball causing it to be destroyed. Maybe the cape and cowl, but not the whole suit.

Some people are just so particular about a costume that they have to invent a way out for the movie so that the hero can get some hypothetical "real", better version of a suit they don't like. Fans did the same thing after Joaquin's "Joker" reveal.

Another major reason I don't buy the second batsuit is something more meta.

Marketing.

While there's only been a quarter of the movie filmed, I refuse to believe that if this second batsuit was the suit used in the majority of the film WB would go with the suit Batman apparently only has for the first 20 minutes in marketing. Not only that, but why would Matt Reeves not use that suit for the camera test and the like? If that second suit is going to be the main image of what his Batman is gonna look like then surely he'd advertise that. It'd be like if for the first Spider-Man movie our first look at the suit was the wrestler suit. It just doesn't make sense to do marketing with what is basically a prologue suit.

I see your point. It even match what marketing does in other cases. Ironman, and the 2 Marvel Spider-Man films had several suits, and all of them were shown in marketing for those movies, as an example.

Exactly. And even then, what was the suit most advertised in all of those movies? The one they used for most of the movie or, in the case of Far from Home, the most upgraded and well designed suit. Both of those patterns mean that the idea of a second hidden suit that's apparently gonna be his main suit and looks 10x better just doesn't make sense.

Lastly, and I cannot stress this enough, I need Reeves to at least attempt the fully-enveloping cape. If I can just get a filmmaker to come out and explicitly say, "We really wanted it, we tried to do it, but it just didn't work," then I can be at peace. Otherwise, I have no way of knowing if anybody had actually tried to pull this off beyond just concept art, and that thought drives me crazy. It's THE classic Batman look - the fully cloaked silhouette. Until I've been told by filmmakers that it simply will not work for x number of reasons, I will never stop demanding this in a live-action film.

you're forgetting we're over a year out from the film, and only 25% of the film has been shot. if the leak is legit, it's very plausible they've just started to use the new suit, if at all. there has been very little real marketing that has been done for the film.

i think ultimately, it depends on if the leaker can be trusted. i feel based on what he said 6 months ago, too many things have started to check out for him not to have inside knowledge.

But even then, I'd assume the second suit would've been designed and made before the first one if it's going to be the main suit because making sure that looks good and is usable would take a higher priority over the first suit. The camera test was meant to show us what Reeves' Batman is going to look like. Even taking into account the limited marketing and the obvious limited footage, why would Reeves not pick the main suit for the camera test when that is meant to be us seeing his Batman for the first time? And why wouldn't, say, the Jim Lee art on my profile picture, not be based off the design of the second suit? Even with the lack of footage and far away release, the idea of this hidden second suit just doesn't make sense to me.

What changes would you all want for a second suit?

The base is great. I'd like a more refined cowl, more symmetry and seamlessness throughout, and totally revamped arms. The arms are the only part I actively dislike. Too busy and ugly.

The collar and symbol should stay as they're fresh and the most distinctive details of this Batman.

Leaks aside. I want a suit similar to Earth 1. With a cowl like the 89 suit, perhaps some armor, but not much.

I guess some aren't considering the possibility that an upgraded suit could indeed be an upgrade and look better? I like the current one too but given what we've seen, I'm still going to trust Reeves knows what he's doing, multiple suits and all.

I’m sure you can go back to Batman purists complaining about Michael Keaton being casted back in 1989 and how much the suit probably sucked. Hell, as much as it’s loved to this day, I still hear people say they dislike the “tail” on the bat logo. It’s just how it is. Nothing wrong with people preferences.

Now that you mention it, I'd love to see their take on the oval symbol. It seems like an appropriate evolution for this suit too, considering there's currently no color whatsoever on it, and the belt is unconventionally black like the Earth One suit.

This is still my ideal final suit for Pattinson. I don't think its too unrealistic for him to progress to something like this from the current suit. It keeps functional look while being more streamlined.

I absolutely love the buttery leather cape and cowl and hope they keep that material.

Agreed. ****ing love that suit but i also love how he looks in the movie

well, the first and most obvious reason is that it's a bit of a spoiler? and even if they do eventually market the second suit, it certainly won't be this far in advance. for fandome, the hype is for the teaser, and it makes no sense to reveal a brand new suit instead of the suit he's wearing in the teaser and the first half of the movie.

again, the leak's legitimacy mostly hinges on the credibility of the leaker. if you think the leaker is trustworthy, then you probably should believe the leak is as well.

I do think that the future Batsuits that we'll be getting in this trilogy will continue to derive influence from the Arkham Origins/Knight suits and the Lee Bermejo Batsuit. I just don't see things being a drastic difference from what we're getting here.

I don't think we are going to see Lucius Fox knowingly provide Bruce with any suits or equipment in this series. Reeves is putting a lot of emphasis on Bruce's own intellect and engineering abilities in this take. It waters down the brilliant detective take if Bruce starts outsourcing.

I do think that the future Batsuits that we'll be getting in this trilogy will continue to derive influence from the Arkham Origins/Knight suits and the Lee Bermejo Batsuit. I just don't see things being a drastic difference from what we're getting here.

I don't see a ton of influence from the AO suit, AK yes, but not AO. I agree that I see the development of the suit being evolutionary at most. Some tweaks and additions of equipment, no new suit from scratch. They hit a home run with this one. At most, I can see the suit's evolution being like Captain America's from The First Avenger, through Winter Soldier, AoU/CE, and then Endgame. The primary construction, materials, and design style will remain the same, but there will be some incremental changes.

Of course there's nothing wrong with having a preference, it's when the preference leads to people being in denial that things become a bit ridiculous.

And it's always the same. Fans try to justify every little detail as being plot related, almost like they're trying to convince themselves that they like the costume. If Batman has small ears, it's "It makes sense that he has small ears so he can get through doorways, I see where they're going with this", or if his cape is short, it's "See, the cape is less likely to be a liability in a fight, I get why Batman would do that". Or, often "I'll wait to see how it looks in motion".

Inevitably it leads them to say things like "Maybe he just starts off with this costume, but it gets damaged, and so he has to build another (real meaning, "less sucky") costume which he wears at the end".

I know there probably will be others over the course of these movies, but I'm fine with accepting that this is the Batman costume. I'm not going to be holding out for another one.

I dunno if I'd really call it a spoiler. All it reveals is that there's gonna be a suit change at some point. It doesn't exactly reveal the entire plot. And to me, the biggest hole isn't to do with the teaser but the camera test. As I said, if this second suit exists then it would've taken priority over the first suit because it's his main suit and they'd need to make sure it was well designed, can be used in scenes comfortably, etc. So if this second suit does exist, there's a high chance it would've been available for the camera test. So why would Reeves use the prologue suit to give us our first glimpse of Batman? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Plus, if the leaker saw a second suit then that surely means that footage of it exists and for every other movie like Far From Home, it's been advertised as "oh they get a new suit, ain't that neat?" I even call into question why Reeves wouldn't reveal its existence at FanDome. Especially when he was straight up talking about how Bruce is upgrading the suit as he goes. It suggest more to me that if there are any changes it will be minor upgrades to the existing suit that we have all seen. It will be little details that move this current suit towards a more refined version and I have a feeling that approach will continue throughout the Reeves' trilogy.

Here's hoping, I can't wait to see this suit evolve
