The BATSUIT Thread

Reminder folks, this is supposed to be a a family friendly forum and overt discussion about adult film stars is not only off-topic, but also pushing the bounds of appropriate.

I hope the batsuit evolves into something like this in future films

This is essentially just a variation on the Affleck suit. The padded, sculpted muscles just don't work for me. I just don't think Bruce would do that, and it makes the costume feel more like cosplay. It honestly looks silly, not intimidating. The Pattinson suit looks 10x better than this in my opinion.

You have to tailor the suit to Pattinson, he isn't going to bulk up some people just can't and he's the perfect example of this. And that's fine btw, you don't have to be in this crazy peak physical shape to own the role. Props to Reeves and Co. making a suit that Pattinson owns based on the footage we've seen. It's tailored perfectly to him, they need to maintain that when upgrading the suit within the story.

The cowl obfuscates enough important features where you can't immediately pinpoint the man behind the mask without close inspection.

Even with Rob's perfect jawline, I doubt people would have pegged him as Batman if all we ever knew about this movie was just the trailer (sans the Bruce scenes).
He doesn’t have obvious facial moles in pinpoint accurate publicly recognizable Bruce Wayne places ala Affleck.

:funny:

But still regardless of how much it obscures of his face (nice unnecessary high value scrabble word usage btw) ... it’s still giving away way too much of his face.

No matter what people thought of Bale’s cowl, at least it disguised the vast majority of his face. With the small mouth opening. Even disguising the vast majority of his jaw line, leaving just Bale’s sharp chin.

In all seriousness though, I'm not the least bit interested in the stellar Batsuit we've got now turning into a cosplay type costume. It just feels completely at odds with the mentality and intent of the designs we've seen of the film across the board so far to me.

It'd be like hoping for this visibly Zodiac-inspired Riddler to ditch his outfit for a green suit and bowler hat with a Question Mark logo on the front.

When there was all the noise about Pattinson not “training” or not looking muscled for me Pattinson looks more scary in the darkness. Just that shot at the end where he slowly rises up looks so awesome and always something I wanted to see. I think use more of that darkness and shadows etc to make him feel more scary than what he is.

What i like as well is seeing that he is creating fear.

So basically a majority of live-action Bat suits:funny:

I get what you’re saying though. My personal preference was always something akin to a real world take on the Arkham Knight suit and this seems to be it.

I just didn’t realize how much I’d like the AK armor top with tactical pants and holster. They just work perfectly.

Thank You !!!

I totally agree. The only time the musculature has worked on one of the movie suits, was the Batman 89 film. It’s a mean matte black, the musculature looks more animalistic or like modern Greco Roman armor. Which is what they were going for presumably. But it’s not exaggerated to goofy looking levels, or if we’re being honest, homoerotic levels like Joel Schumacher. Where, I shouldn’t even say just Joel Schumacher, Zack Snyder too clearly has an affinity and fetish for the male physique as well. From 300 to Watchmen to BvS, etc. That’s why the BvS bat suit and honestly the superman suit became comically overly sculpted with musculature in the sequels. Fetish levels.

The Man of Steel suit was essentially perfect. Became over designed for no good reason.

Bruce Wayne is a heterosexual. And a functional pragmatic guy. Yes he is presenting himself as a giant bat creature, but not to excessive literal extents. I don’t picture him getting super detailed in sculpting male anatomy into his armor LOL

Ben Affleck looked absolutely ridiculously stupid in that suit. Especially in certain shots. I understand they were going for the old big DK Returns look, but that doesn’t mean you build a suit with so much padding that it makes your character and actor look like the Michelin man where he clearly doesn’t have that physique and clearly doesn’t fill it out to those cartoon sexually fetishized levels.

The original Michael Keaton suit worked, but the musculature wasn’t being exaggerated to comical levels. It really was just the chest and abdomen and it was really subdued. It clearly was a form of Greco Roman armor, that made him look like a creature.

The rest of the suits? Are my cup of tea for the character. Batman Returns, mechanized looking body armor. TDK trilogy suits, military applications body armor.

Now the Reeve suit? Perfect combination of creepy ghoul animalistic or Spectre like cape and mask with plausible believable segmented body armor, with slightly loose mobility military pants and under suit.

The Snyder suits, Schumacher suits, are laughably bad. Ridiculously over sculpted to funny looking homoerotic levels. And let’s not even address the odd justice league mask that turned Batman’s ears and iconic silhouette into an Owl-Man silhouette.

Honestly Bale with black eye makeup in TDK would have given him an interesting visual parallel with Ledger's Joker.

I have this really clear false memory of Bale with the eye makeup in the cave with Rachel in Begins.

That's like my memory of the Ghostbusters fighting Vigo the Carpathian on top of the Statue of Liberty. It was a crushing disappointment, years later, when I went back and watched Ghostbusters II and found that the finale, while still awesome, did not actually feature that particular scene in it.

Anyways back to the Batsuit. :gngl:

Wait, now I'm remembering Bale with Panda eyes

I'm mixed on the suit. It's interesting and makes sense for the story and timeline for this batman's career but it's just alright. Not terrible and does look much better in the trailer but still not all that great. It works but hopefully It's just for this film and Batman starts upgraded in the sequel

How old were you when you first saw it? That's a pretty large difference.
