Success has nothing to do with being the more talented or best of two different bands, Red. If it did, Britney Spears would widely be considered the most accomplished musician ever, perhaps.

Success is often more about marketing and who gets pushed to the masses than it does who has more talent or makes better music. When the Everly Brothers were big, they had a HUUUUUUUUGE marketing push behind them. They were good looking white guys who made "safe" "rock and roll", so the record company marketed them to death and payed plenty a DJ to play their records. The O'Jays were a group of young black men who made "black" soul-funk-rock in a day and age where that was considered dangerous to society and black's weren't given equal societal status. Who was the more talented of the two groups from a purely musical perspective? Wasn't the Everly Bros.
