The Best Movie Action Sequences Thread

Both of the car chases from Nolan's Batman films
Iron Man (in the Mark III armor) vs. The Ten Rings
The lobby shootout in The Matrix

Goldeneye - Tank Chase through St. Petersburg

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Tank chase

Raiders of the Lost Ark - Jones trying to overtake the truck with the Ark in it.

The Dark Knight - Swat Van/Semi truck chase

Predator - Arnold and team take out the Rebel camp

Apocalypse Now - Helicopter Attack

Die Hard - The Entire Movie

Pretty much all the action in Raiders.

'Hard Boiled', I could name the entire movie for this one. But the hospital sequence alone was definitely worth mentioning for the longest take of an action sequence ever (so far).

All of the action sequences in Hard Boiled were absolutely brilliant. The Killer has some brilliant action sequences also.

Oldboy - the hammer sequence of course. actually the end of Observe and Report with Seth Rogan kinda reminded me of this.

I've heard people say that but I thought the OAR fight scene was actually really poorly done specially when you compare it to the Old boy corridor scene which was truly spectacular imo.

One of my favourite action scene : The T2 chase in the LA reservoir culminating with one of the greatest shot ever, the T-1000 coming out of the flames looking like the silver surfer, badass (I love how we hear his metallic footsteps before actually seeing him).

King Kong fights 3, count them, 3 T-Rexes.

French Connection - car chasing the elevated subway train
Ronin - car chase

*Hurm*, too many CGI pixels mentioned. Time to inject some manliness into this thread.

i think i was just really surprised at the level of action in what was supposed to be a comedy. and even being based as an action scene by itself i really like the way you could almost feel every hit connect. also i think it built up to the scene pretty nicely. now im not saying it's as good as Oldboy, just saying it reminded me of it.

My pick goes to the end of Aliens and anything in T2.

I would also go with Train fight in Spider-Man 2, just about any action scene in The Matrix throw in something of Speilberg's too.

Sounds like you're ordering off the menu ("You forgot to say please").
:oldrazz:

Robocop - Coke house shootout. Refinery shootout.

Eraser - Shipyard fight.

Collateral - Night club.

Indiana Jones - Truck chase in Raiders, Horse vs. Tank in Crusade

Equilibrium - Final fight

Road Warrior - Final chase

And c'mon, everything in Predator, Die Hard, Terminator(2) and Aliens

Empire Strikes Back - Battle of Hoth

The Road Warrior - last chase scene

Raiders of the lost art - Truck Chase

Jurassic Park - T-Rex escapes cage

Black Hawk Down - anytime the Special Forces soldiers are trading shots with the Somalians (which is most of the movie!)

Saving Private Ryan - the opening at Normandy

300 - the Spartans advancing through the waves of the Persian army on the cliffside and you're left drooling by their badassery and skill

Troy - Hector vs Achilles

The Mask of Zorro - Zorro vs Captain Love & Don Rafael Montero

TMNT - Leo vs Raphael

The Bourne Ultimatum - hand-to-hand fight with the assassin guy (preceded by the awesome shots of Bourne running across rooftops to find & save Julia Stiles' character)

Predator 2 - the Predator seeing Keyes' team and taking them out inside the meat warehouse

King Kong - giant bugs (IMO made even more awesome/creepy by how unnervingly quiet that whole scene plays out)

The Mist - the pharmacy attack (which plays out alot like the hive attack in Aliens - obvious homage)

Godzilla Vs. The Military in Godzilla 98.
Any of Spider-Man & Doc Ock's fights in Spider-Man 2.
Hulk Vs. the dogs, Hulk Vs. the miliatary in the Hulk movie.
Hulk Vs. Abomination in The Incredible Hulk.
Qui Gon Jin & Obiwan Vs. Darth Maul in The Phantom Meanac, the Pod Racing sequence.

It may sound like a cliche, but the car chase from The French Connection is the best car chase ever.

French Connection - car chasing the elevated subway train
Ronin - car chase

Unfortntate that so much of the good stuff from this period gets lumped into a box called 'old'. BOTH of Popye's movies are classics for action.

Robocop - Coke house shootout. Refinery shootout.

Eraser - Shipyard fight.

And c'mon, everything in Predator, Die Hard, Terminator(2) and Aliens

All things Die Hard.

Michael Mann is the Man

Dunno if it counts as a proper action scene, but the final shoot out in For a Few Dollars More. With that music it's just EPIC.

THat's the one I was think of, couldn't clear my head through the fog to get the name...and some of those old Clint westerns run together.

Yea I love that movie. The score is one of the best ever IMO. And the shoot outs are great.

Yeah, that was excellent. I loved the sound of the pocket watch to go with it.

But I thought the shootout scene in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is much better.
