Infinity War The Black Order

From other stuff I have read about these characters, Cap shouldn't even be able to catch Proxima Midnight's spear either, but its still a pretty badass moment in the trailer. The truth is they will be underpowered compared to how powerful they are in the comics, but it honestly doesn't really bother me. At least it will allow for what should be some awesome hand to hand fights.

They'll be underpowered from the comics but many of the heroes are also less powerful than their comic versions. Certainly Drax and Gamora.

And MCU Cap seems a good deal stronger than he's usually depicted in the books.

But yeah, sure they'll nerf the Order at least a little. Like what they did with Thor in Avengers, so they could have their big Iron Man/Thor throwdown setpiece.

That's fine by me. If they didn't lower their powers, you'd figure only Thor/Hulk/Strange/Wanda could do anything to them anyway, Vision too I guess.

They only do it so as to have the whole roster in the game and useful.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I mean they have to give these characters even the weaker ones something significant to do and looking at the roster of the Earth based heroes in the MCU it only makes sense to tone them down some. Still I don't think that will take away from them as far as being formidable villains as long as they get enough to do.

Yeah. I mean, Cap being able to take on Ultron one-on-one in AoU bugs the hell out of me. But I get why they'd choose to do it in filmmaking terms.

This is no different than that.

they definitely took a few pages from Ultimate Cap in terms of power levels and majority of Costumes even though the personality is almost all 616

That was Pre-Ultron Prime/ Semi-Prime Ultron and Ultron held the Advantage the whole fight plus we needed to see cap operate at that level for Civil War

From all the stuff i saw relating to Proxima Midnight i'm expecting her to be the weakest of the Black Order. It seems Cap, Falcon and Black Widow go head to head with hear and are able to land some shots or even counter some of her moves. So even though she's most likely too much for one single person it seems that she can be challenged "successfully" by a few of the less powerful Avengers.

I think Corvus Glaive will be much more powerful than PM. Just because it seems he is the one pinning Vision down and since Cap, Falcon and BW are facing Proxima Midnight i'm expect Corvus Glaive to have to deal with Vision and Scarlet Witch at once.

So my theory is that SW and Vision are attacked by Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive. This surprise attack gives the Black Order couple an upper hand on the 2 x 2 encounter. The trio composed by Cap, Falcon and BW arrive to help the Avengers couple. Then it becomes a 5 vs 2.

Proxima Midnight vs Cap + Falcon + BW
Corvus Glaive vs Vision and SW

This proves to be too much for the Black Order couple making them retreat. That's how Vision survives the encounter and is later taken care of and protected.

So if Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive are able to turn the tables on Vision and Scarlet Witch then they should be at least on their level or higher. Taking into account my reasoning to think that PM is indeed weaker than CG i expect him to be quite the threat and very powerful on his own... enough to challenge successfully any of the Avengers.

Very different.

Corvus is a fighter with super strength and speed, his glaive can cut through anything, and as long it's unbroken he can regenerate from any wound and even death. He's the teams Wolverine on steroids.

Ebony Maw is a controller whos voice can make anyone do anything.

Interestingly, Ebony Maw basically means "Black Mouth". Corvus also means "Crow", and Proxima Midnight means "Almost Midnight"

Thanks. Hopefully we get enough screen time with them to show some personality beyond just evil henchmen.

Marvel is definitely keeping the Black Order very close to the vest; they want the audience to be surprised by them when they see the movie, and not spoiled by the trailers and TV spots it seems. I hope that's the marketing ploy because I do want some elements of the movie kept hidden.

Getting really itchy to know who the hell's playing them, too.

Marvel's been pulling some really cool out-of-nowhere casting stuff in recent years, like how we didn't find out about Cardellini & Delpy in AoU until the week before, and the same with the (genius) casting of Connelly in Homecoming.

Get the sense it's going to be some really cool people, just can't for the life of me speculate on who, or what direction they'll go with it.

I hope each member has a distinctive personality, not just the typical henchmen snarling type.

Everyone can just google this but i leave it her for easier access. Descriptions of the Black Order from the comics.

Ebony Maw

Persuasion: Ebony Maws's true talents relies around deception and manipulation. He can coax peoples thought processes into serving his own goals with nothing but his words. Even the most fortuitous minds, like Doctor Strange, have fallen prey to his machinations as he once used him to summon the Many-Angled One Shuma-Gorath into their universe.

Super-Genius Class Intelligence: Ebony Maw mostly demonstrates his intelligence with his highly skilled abilities of manipulation, being described as a "black tongue that spreads mischief and evil wherever he goes."
Corvus Glaive

Superhuman Strength
Superhuman Speed
Superhuman Durability
Superhuman Endurance

Immortality: As long as his glaive's blade is intact, Corvus Glaive cannot die.

Master Strategist and Tactician: Corvus was the right-hand man of Thanos and led his armies into battle. After studying Earth's history of warfare, Proxima declared that Corvus was the greatest general the Earth had ever seen.

Glaive: Corvus wields a glaive capable of splitting atoms (meaning it can cut through virtually anything, including the thick hide of the Hulk and even the skin of Hyperion). If the blade remains unbroken, it allows his body to resurrect from any type of affliction, even from being atomized.
Cull Obsidian

Superhuman Strength
Superhuman Density
Superhuman Durability: Skin is unbreakable
Proxima Midnight

Nigh Invulnerability
Superhuman Strength
Superhuman Speed
Superhuman Endurance

Master Combatant

Spear: Proxima wielded a spear forged for her by Thanos. It was created from a sun trapped in distorted space-time, acting and operating as a star, supernova, and black hole at once. Once thrown, it may become a lance of multi-arcing energy carrying the tremendous mass of its template sake, since Proxima suggested that she was able to exert control over its density. An arm which never misses its mark, it acts as a lethal projectile endowed with constant velocity, or some form of energy netting which turns jet black after ensnaring, weighing down, and effectively immobilizing a target. It must first hit a target to cause this effect. The lance also carries an incredibly lethal toxin with it upon contact, which can kill about anything be it flesh or even living energy within moments.[3] The appellation was powerful enough to match and bind the virtually limitless strength of the Hulk, as well as revert him back to Bruce Banner once upon drawing it out of him

Can't wait to see the Black Order tomorrow.
I also found this nice small clip from some kids channel. Short look at all of them, i'm guessing Super Giant's powers will also be combined with Ebony Maw since she isn't in IW. My favorite is hands down Corvus Glaive and it would be cool for him to have a smilier voice and chilled demeanor in IW.

How about that shot of Maw messing with Strange?

Love that show of them surrounding Loki.
They look pretty cool. Ebony Maw looks a bit different that what i was expecting.

I don't think i like Ebony Maw's look that much. He looks disgusting and sick. I guess that's the point to make us really hate him.

Ebony Maw definitely doesn't look like how I expected him too, but he is still creepy as hell nonetheless. They all look great honestly.
