Infinity War The Black Order

Ebony Maw definitely wins the award for most disgusting BO member while the others can fight it out for coolest looking.

I had/have high hopes for Corvus Glaive but nothing from him is really feeding my enthusiasm right now. I hope they show something cool of him.

I just hope that they don't force BW beating Proxima Midnight cause that should not happen AT ALL

Or Corvus Glaive for that matter.

Yeah I hope they keep the aspect that as long as his spear is intact he can't be killed I'm sorry if it's a unpopular thing but I hope the "regular" human avengers get RUN THROUGH cause they should pose no threat to the Black Order

It would also create a great moment if he's seemingly "killed" and then its revealed he can't be killed.

any idea of the voices yet?

There was a Japanese actor who was cast but hasn't been listed in the film as to who he's playing.

Plus wasn't there a rumor Kevin Conroy played 1 of the gang?

Yeah the Outriders being canon fodder or shock troops.

The BO singlehandedly should be able to take on the Avengers.

Shock troops sound much better than cannon fodder.

The next time someone says that a live-action She-Hulk should be CGI, I'll just direct them to this gif... I mean don't get me wrong, Proxima looks good. But you can tell from a mile that she's not real.

Is that Mantis?

Proxima's the one BO member they should've done with make-up.

I think it might just be the gif... wait and see what it looks like on the big screen. So long as it's not like Steppenwolf who literally looked like a character from a PlayStation 2 cut scene.

Although Proxima is CGI, her face is a dead ringer for the motion capture actress who did the stunt work so I wonder if perhaps they just layered over her face?

To be fair, the CGI rendering on Thanos is quite good (especially the eyes) as is Brolin's mo-cap performance, so I wouldn't knock the process. It's just a shame that what we've seen of Proxima thus far clearly isn't up to par.

I hope you're right. On a loosely related note, Proxima reminds me of Emperor Snoke for some reason.

I've noticed often that if there are multiple CGI characters in one film, the minor characters seem to look less realistic than the character with the most screentime. For example, Davy Jones looks better than his crew members in Pirates of the Caribbean and Smaug looks better than the CGI orcs in The Hobbit. Of course there are exceptions, like the new Planet of the Apes movies. It's justifiable, and it's not knocking the VFX department since it makes more sense to spend more time rendering the characters with the most screentime, and as we can already kind of tell, Thanos will probably be the best-rendered CGI character in this. Could Proxima look better? Sure, but since she's an alien character anyway I can forgive it. It's also hard to tell since we've barely seen much of her in action.

I don’t know. Remember when this leaked online MONTHS ago:

I know the gif is quick, but she looks pretty damn real in this shot.

I don’t think that’s the case here. In Pirates for example, Davy Jones has a lot of crew members. In IW, the Black Order are only four people. Each will get significant focus for at least one extended scene. Proxima and Corvus fighting Vision and Wanda, and Ebony and Cull fighting Stark and Strange in New York. There’s more focus on each of the members. And by the looks of it, I think all BO members will last until the end of the film. There was a set visit to the Wakanda battle scene, and one of the journalists makes a mention of seeing the character Proxima Midnight there.

So, I don’t buy Thanos being the best CG rendered character. Especially when Ebony Maw looks damn good.

I am guessing the Russo's would rather put CGI on the actress playing Midnight than have her sit in a makeup chair for hours (which is hours they can't shoot her scenes) and have her performance hampered by the heavy makeup she would likely require to get made up properly as the character. So I can see why they went with the CGI.

I think it's largely the grainy shot and the harsh red and blue lighting. I couldn't tell you if Wanda's hand was real in that shot.

and yet Gamora and Nebula both wear "heavy" make-up and their performances are not hampered in the least...

I don't now if the BO are going to need extensive acting performances. It should just be some cool stunt work.

I think she looks pretty lifelike here as well.

Also, I believe she's being portrayed by actress and stunt woman Monique Ganderton. Ganderton most recently portrayed one of Apocalypse's original horsemen in X-Men Apocalypse, and she's doubled for numerous actresses since the early 2000s.

Nope. The Black Order's designs look far more complex and far more alien. And Gamora and Nebula are in the movie, and you are inheriting the process of how they are created from previous Marvel movies; and thus take a long time to get made up, then why would you also want to deal with that for the Black Order? That's three more characters requiring heavy makeup (the big guy is obviously gonna be CGI no matter what). Why would you think the directors of this movie want that kind of a hassle?
