Infinity War The Black Order

That sword on Thanos I'm not so sure about. It's cool and all, in that over-the-top anime cliche way, but it might sort of take away from just how extreme a power this guy is naturally.

I'd way rather just see him beat down the whole group initially, before he even has a single stone, using nothing but his fists and mind for strategy. Somehow more satisfying than him carrying this huge superpowered alien god-blade that possibly trumps Mjolnir or whatever.

Do we think that's an Outrider leader/general in the bottom left or just a standard one?

At a guess, I'd say just a regular one, he looks just like the others behind him.

Would love to see some "hero unit" types to these cannon fodder guys, though. Obviously didn't make any sense to do it with Ultron, but the Chitauri really could have used even just one leader guy with a personality and dialogue: maybe some big fisticuff throwdown one-on-one with Steve or something amid all the chaos.

Sort of get the feeling these'll all just be a faceless swarm of alien bug-men though. Meat of the antagonist's stuff'll be Thanos and the Order, these dudes are probably just more identical goons for our heroes to mow through.

Ok thanks.

I really hope there is some variety to them with a general or bunch of elite units.

People wonder why they didn't do more practical effects with The Black Order, but looking at this new art which I'm sure is a pretty accurate indicator of their final look in the movie there is just no way they would be to capture this same level of detail, and I'm a dude that's all for practical effects in almost every one of my movies. I mean at least they actually look like aliens, and not people in make-up which is focused on so heavily in the GOTG movies which I honestly don't mind, but those designs could be a lot better IMO.

I definitely think Proxima could have been done with just make up however... maybe they thought that would make her stick out like a sore thumb if the others are fully CGI. I'm loving how she's been very front and centre in all the visuals for the Black Order. I can't wait to see her in action and hope that she's not eliminated easily. I'm not interested in them being fodder.

I doubt they’ll be fodder. Wouldn’t be much point including them then. Hopefully they are a real threat and have cool personalities. And yeah, it might stand out if they’re done totally differently.

Oh, sorry - thought you meant the alien guys in Wakanda. That's who we were referring to as cannon fodder. Yeah, of course the Black Order are going to be a big deal with personalities and all.

Yeah the Outriders will be fodder. I’d hope they are at least a threat to the average Wakandan warrior rather than completely useless like the Chitauri.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is Thanos holding a sword here?

Oh so he IS holding a sword. Yeah, it's kinda of cliché and I don't know how to feel about it.

It'll be a cool visual, I'm just not sure it makes sense a guy like him is even going to need it.

Against Thor, maybe. But you basically see him owning Thor in the trailer (or was it the ComicCon footage? can't remember) anyway. You'd sort of figure he's going to be able to take Hulk in a physical fight too, not sure what he's going to be needing a big Final Fantasy sword longer than a person is tall for.

No Captain Marvel in the mix, Wanda and Vison aren't really up-close-and-personal physical throwdown types. Not like Cap or Widow or Falcon or Iron Man are going to be able to do much against him.

If it’s in it might just be for a specific scene and purpose.

I am betting with that sword it won't be easy for Thor to attack him up close and destroy that Gauntlet with his new weapon. At least that seems to be the best use for it.

I just noticed Thanos has large sword in his hand.

If you closely its a slightly different design than the rest of the outrider's we see in the trailer. The guy has six arms instead of four and horns, so I'm guessing its definitely the captain/leader we saw in the earlier leaked promo art.

Good point. Her being CGI would at least show consistency with the rest of the team, and I also believe it makes it apparent that they are aliens with unique designs and personalities.

Good spot. Thanks for that

I hope he is a tough bastard.

What does Proxima plan to do with that, Fight off 3 vampires huddled together?

Wonder what she’d think of that. :funny:

I hope Thanos actually has powers. Kinda would to see him blast energy out of his hands

I hope they will be a real threat like Thanos is; the Avengers need to face real life-and-death situation against these intergalactic baddies.
