I can't believe Black Widow is the lead female CBM character in history.

She's literally a nobody who has no discernible characteristics or traits.

Marvel now more than ever need to buy X-men from Fox and build the next phase of the MCU with Dark Phoenix, Rogue, Jubilee, Storm etc.

Such an epic fail on Marvel AND DC's part. Especially DC who have the likes of Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Supergirl and have done nothing with them.

Have you ever read her comic book? From your comments I take it you havent as everything you have posted about her is nonsense. I for one hope Marvel give her a solo movie. A low budget of 50 million would be easily enough and going by Lucy she could bring in 300 million easy. A no brainer really.

There's no point in doing a prequel IMO.

Prequels are almost always problematic due to the high expectations that come with them. Not even high expectations, but simply visions and hopes that come with them. When you have an ongoing narrative like the MCU, the human mind always subconsciously fills in the gaps to previous events based on the information given. The more we get to know Black Widow in the present, the more we'll fill in the gaps of her past, the higher the expectations to adhere to our own interpretations will get.

In fact, I'd argue that was one of the biggest problems with the concept of the Prequel Trilogy. While quality was definitely the largest factor, there was almost nothing Lucas could have came up with that trumped 20 years worth of imagination.

Well...I would be okay if it wasn't a prequel...and like you said about the SW prequels...they never turned out that great. Back then they were almost as good but to me, looking back at them, they could have been heck of a lot better if Lucas either had other directors do the prequels or better yet, the prequels shouldn't have been made. Period.

As far as a Black Widow movie is concerned, no need for a prequel. I'd rather they focus on the present BW we have now and so on and so forth. *shrugs* Dunno what stories they could tie in but if you add lets say...Winter Soldier, that would be kinda interesting...

Let's be honest they literally had to do a Black Panther and Captain Marvel films, I really feel like those were givens.

Obviously they were going to do Thor and Cap 3 and GotG2, in which case it would have been a Black Widow solo film instead of Strange or Inhumans. And after AoU we would have seen her 4 times, and so would her story be more interesting than either of those films? I don't think so.

And yet they EACH got a TRILOGY of films dedicated to them. Not buying it Kevin. Oh and you cannot possibly explain all of BW's past in an Avengers movie. She's got such a long, murky, complicated, past that you could easily get at least one movie out of that. It wouldn't even be a prequel per-se, just a standalone movie set in the same universe. Just like The Wolverine wasn't more of a standalone Wolverine tale than a true sequel to XMO.

So now Widow is equal to the big three? Widows role was bigger than Thor in A1 and will likely be bigger in AoU and she has had roles in IM2 and TWS, so it is hardly like we don't see her, or she doesn't have any development.

So she is one of the 6 founding Avengers in the MCU so what? Should we get a Hawkeye solo film as well then. What about a Nick Fury one, he probably has an interesting past and is very crucial to the MCU. What about a Winter Soldier one he must have done some interesting things between Cap 1 and 2.

You are saying you would rather have a solo film for a character we will have seen 4 times after next year instead of seeing one of the new characters we will be getting.

The movies have definitely elevated my interest in Natasha, no question about it. I love that she's been fleshed out and developed and have zero problems with her being featured and favored over some of the others.

I also have zero problems with her not getting her own movie, she doesn't need one IMO. I think they smartly use her as is and reading that the plan is to keep using her a major character in Avengers and possibly other solo movies (for other Avengers) is perfect. If it aint broke....
