Age of Ultron The Black Widow Thread

why does Natasha have on a Tron costume?

and why give her those sticks? Seems too Mockingbird

Probably because she's going up against robots/AI Ultron and needs some sort of power up. I personally don't like this look, I wish they reused TWS suit which I thought was perfect.

I love the costume for the most part, but what's with all the wedges in female superhero costumes? :funny: I swear she didn't have them before, or am I just forgetting?

Now I'm imagining spader walking around in huge stilettos to try to get to ultron size and Whedon telling him it's unnecessary because he's only voicing.
You're talking stilts dude, he's not going to go around in 2 feet high stilettos.

I just hope they don't have the Widow & Bruce as an item.

He belongs to Betty,Natasha! :argh::argh::argh:

Wedges?

Makes sense. We've already seen her in her classic costume with her classic accoutrements so it's not like we've been denied comic accuracy. Like Iron Man & Hawkeye she depends largely on equipment she uses(since like them she has no powers) to get the job done so why wouldn't she upgrade if the situation called for it?

I'm still hoping they go back to the IM 2 suit. (CoughandhairCough) :csad:

IMO TWS had the best hair and outfit, but the difference between her costumes in IM2, TWS and TA is hardly noticeable.

In the comics, black widow tends to have wavy long hair to the waist....:hmr: .... I keep waiting for the movies to adapt this aspect..... but it seems they want SJ to have shorter (sportier ?) hair style.

Yes....I like chicks with very long hair... :woot:

She looked the most like the comic's traditional look in IM 2. Long hair, blue suit. Since then,it's been short hair, black suit.

Natash's hair has bangs and thats a signature of her look. Thats never been adapated

Sort of in IM2, but the curls threw the look off. With that said, her best onscreen look was in TWS

IMO the curls in IM2 were a bit too curly. Honestly I think I like her Natalie Rushman hairdo the best.

I agree, I definitely prefer for her to have longer hair. Her look in TWS was perfect, imo.

To give them a more pronounced, feminine posture while still trying to adhere to practicality.

Hey, they could have given her the look she had in the 80s.

Actually no, the majority of the time it's for filming reasons. Its the same reason RDJ wore heals in the IM movies. It's easier to put actors in heels than it is to try and make them stand on ledges. Besides, the heels are rarely every visible.

This doesn't address your concerns at all, but how cool is it that we live in a world with both a Mockingbird and a Black Widow.

Her boots. It's the type of heel on them.

Eh, I've worn wedges, I wouldn't exactly call them the most practical for fighting. :oldrazz:

However, when doing some googling, I noticed she at least did have them in Winter Soldier too so they're not new like I had thought. I should say they're not a big deal as they won't be noticeable (as my lack of noticing them in Winter Soldier indicates), so I'm not wanting to harp on them too much, I was just making an observation.

With superhero movies involving a female hero, she's usually in either wedges or stilettos.

They look more practical than stilettos. Wonder Woman has wedges too in Dawn of Justice. When women wear hears it makes their curves more prominent and gives them a more powerful looking stature. I have art models pose for me all the time and there's a noticeable difference in posture when wearing heels. It's automatically sexier, more powerful and dynamic looking.

Actually, no, because using that logic RDJ would be wearing heels in promotional shots and during scenes where his feet are visible. Not the case with female characters. And why would they make BW taller? Usually only men are made to look taller because that's what people are used to with leading male characters and it's usually only in close up scenes with other characters where the height difference would be noticeable.

Duh. The point is that they look more practical that stilettos. Stilettos have the risk of getting stuck or broken. Sure, high heels in general are impractical in a fight (unless you're gonna stab someone in the eye), but visually a thick, flat bottomed wedge LOOKS more practical than a very thin stick.

None of the taller women in these films are wearing 6 inch wedges, maybe a 2-3 inch heel at most. Heck, most of the men are wearing thick heeled boots giving them a couple of extra inches.

They need to make her taller because she is short and it's more difficult to frame two actors where there's a foot difference in height whether in a close up or walking. The extra height also makes her seem more powerful. That bad ass scene in TWS with Cap and BW striding side by side on the roof wouldn't look nearly as cool on her end if she didn't even come up to Evans' shoulder.

Note in her "romantic" scenes with 5'8 Ruffalo in the trailer he's noticeably taller than her which he wouldn't be if she was wearing high heels and she's not because she doesn't need the extra height nor the appearance of size and power in that scene with that actor.

Think about how this shot would look with her 6 inches shorter

Natasha is given all these upgrades, yet in the final scene of the trailer where the team is being swarmed by hundreds of armored robots, she's shooting them with a pistol. How cute. Seriously? If she's just going to use her gun, she's pretty much useless.

I don't know why Joss loves these terrible short curly wigs for Scarlett. The CA:WS wig looked much better.
