The Bourne Legacy - Part 1

Do you really want Cross to be as special as Bourne though? I like that they made Cross like this because this makes Bourne awesome; he still the bestest of the best agents of the program, that he doesn't need drugs to do what he can do.

That's my point. He's not special. He's a pretender. Bourne is the real deal. He's the faux-Bourne.

Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are ready to be born again at Universal Pictures.

Sources tell Variety the the studio is in the early stages of bringing back Damon and Greengrass for an untitled “Jason Bourne” feature, marking the revival of one of Hollywood’s biggest action franchises.

Over the years Greengrass and Damon and have stood their ground about not returning to the CIA property, based on the Robert Ludlum novels, after working together on “The Bourne Supremacy” and “The Bourne Ultimatum.”

But sources now say both Greengrass and Damon are changing their tune and are in early talks to return to the franchise.

Universal is already developing an untitled film set in the Bourne world with Justin Lin directing and Jeremy Renner returning to play Aaron Cross. That film was slotted to bow on July 16, 2016 and its unknown if that film will stay there or if the new “Bourne” film will take it place.

Damon’s three Bourne movies, which began in 2002 and ended in 2007, grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide at the box office.

The WME-repped Damon is about to start filming “The Martian” for Fox and Greengrass last directed “Captain Phillips.” He is repped by CAA.

Universal had no comment on this story.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.

Please god let them cancel that horrible Aaron Cross nonesense. Justin Lin deserves better projects anyway. I don't want some Bourne Universe nonsense.

Nah I can't believe this. Paul Greengrass swore to everyone and their mother that he won't be back for another Bourne film.

People in Hollywood say stuff like that all of the time and go back on their word.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up Spidey and you're not helping.:argh:

I would not mind a team up. No girlfriends & no drama. Just Bourne & Aaron teaming up with Landy

Lol Dude I'm not saying that you should get your hopes up, early talks doesn't mean that everything is set in stone.

So does this mean that Latino Review were right when they reported something like this months ago? Does that mean I'll actually have to give them credit for something if this is true? Ugh that almost makes me wish this weren't true.

I hope they don't cancel it. I liked Bourne Legacy, I liked seeing that what Bourne did affected other agents in other programs. I hope the Bourne Legacy sequel stays on track. If we get two movies that take place in the Bourne world, for me, all the better.

The ONLY problem that I had with Bourne Legacy was the ridiculous chase involving the car and motorcycle in the crowded streets of the Philippines.

Oh, they want to make real Bourne films again? Count me in. They even know how blah Legacy was. If not for Weisz, I couldn't watch that film.

The problem with the Bourne Legacy is it is a crappy, unoriginal take on the same material.

I'd rather give LR credit Sundance, then miss out on another good Bourne film.

Their rate of reliability was incredible, like, a decade ago. It's plummeted to maybe 33% to 50% true... methinks Mr. Mayimbe's ego inflated and he burned some bridges with some people. Especially with him calling naysayers "bum juice" because they don't agree with him or call him out on his B.S..

However, he seems to have got this one right. About the only non-Marvel thing he's broke that pans out.

If Damon returns, it just makes me wish they waited for him and never undertook the Aaron Cross angle.

Good lord i want this. I was fine with Ultimatum being the final film, until Legacy came along and decided to mess around with what Ultimatum did at the end. I'm sorry but i hate that film, and if this film is real then Cross is even more useless to me, unless there's a team up or something, and honestly Bourne doesn't need it.

This. Bourne Legacy was awful.
Yeah it really was.

Yeah, yeah you're right Butch. The important thing is getting another good Bourne film.

Legacy was boring, I clocked maybe 20-25 minutes before turning it off. Renner is a fine actor and maybe just maybe he could have out done damon with a better story and script.

I hated that super pills nonsense in The Bourne Legacy which was a weird direction to move towards considering it was the Bourne franchise that pretty much started the whole gritty realism trend.

funny thing is I dont think I got that far and even that would have made me turn it off.

People lie and go back in their word in the movie business all the time. It's like clockwork.

Also, Matt Damon has never 100% said he would NEVER return to the franchise. In fact, when Legacy was getting made sounded like he wanted to be involved and basically said Universal never made him an offer. All of his talk sounded like, "Hey Univeral, cut the check!"

I really hope this is true, but after so many false starts and rumours on this front, I aint getting my hopes up.
