There aren't enough screens in America for TDkR to break the record in 2D. It just isn't possible.

If it can get about 22 million admissions too (how much would that be now in 2D and all IMAX showings sold out? $185 million?), then that's quite good enough, IMO.

Of course the numbers won't match, but the viewers will have won because we will have gotten it in bona fide IMAX without stupid 3D.

Yes it'll hold next week. Very good chance of even making $100 million since it doesn't have direct competition.

The only thing coming is Dark Shadows.

It's been marketed heavily, and it might eat away at some sales.

Though, the Avengers should have no problem taking it out.

Their audiences are completely overlapped. There will be some people who just aren't into comic book movies. Also I would never completely count out Depp/Burton. Especially with Depp playing another outlandish character.

Ranges depending on where you live. For me a mantinee runs about $9-10. Evening shows are about $13-15. With IMAX or 3D or both its gonna go up to around $20.

3D (4pm-10pm): 14$
IMAX/IMAX3D: 17$

A regular ticket costs 11€ (14.3$), then you add 3€ (4$) for 3D. There's only one Imax near Paris, it's too far, I've never been there. I will for TDKR though.

I hope not. What one film does doesn't make another film less successful. If Rises is an excellent film and makes $450m domestic and $1BN globally I can't understand anyone calling that a disappointment.

Nowadays, media relies on sensationalism rather than reporting truth, falling standards of Journalism.

Then that will spread among the general audience who just take it at face value.

Yep. It could be better than Knight but because it didn't reach the numbers of Avengers opening weekend, it'll be spin as "why didn't Batman beat Avengers"...which is nonsense because it never could. Not without 3D.

OW is only Fri-Sat-Sun. They didn't add up TF2's 5-day take and call it its OW. Neither did they do that for BB, which also opened on a Wednesday.

If WB is gunning for the weekend record, they'll open on Friday. If they're like, "Eff it, we'll just take advantage of July weekdays" then they'll move it to Wednesday. But then the media might interpret that as "giving up."

What's done is done. It's too late to convert TDKR to 3D and we'd all riot if they did anyway.
