This obsession with always name dropping the same actors for roles is getting scary. In this case Worthington. When did he become Hollywood's new it guy? Now people want him for everything. Yes he's a good actor, but he can't disguise his accent well enough to play an American character.

The more I think about it, I really REALLY want Matt Damon. :/

Too old now. He'll be in his 40s by the time this hits theaters.

Yeah, gotta admit that ever since you suggested Evans, now I'm continuing hope that he gets it. He's a much better choice than some proposed on these boards. As far as talent, looks & name recognition goes, he's a solid choice.
Hell, if Ryan Renyolds can play both Deadpool & Green Lantern, then he can play Cap & Human Torch...typecasting, be damned! (Besides, other than both being comicbook superheros, they are much different characters.)

Evans would make a good Cap, the only problem being his starring in those Fox films. I doubt Marvel would go for him because of them and I imagine they hurt his box office appeal

I disagree. I think that the general consensus is that Evans was one of the high points of the Fox F4 movies. Might help by redeeming himself in a meatier role. Also, while definitely not very good, I didn't think the F4s were absolutely "horrible". They sure could have been much worse. (I still say that it's better no films than bad ones, though Fox!)

I'D like to see him redeem himself, and I'm sure many others would, too; but there's a possibility that many, many people would see Cap as just "another superhero movie with that guy from Fantastic Four"

Ya know, Macht is a decent actor, but in my opinion he doesn't have a hard enough edge to him for Cap. I may be wrong though.

Who would be a better Red Skull, Mark Strong or Mads Mikkelsen?

Mark Strong is 6'2 and a known actor, and 47 years old. He also speaks German.

Mads Mikkelsen is 6'1 and I guess a known actor, and 45 years old. Not sure if he can speak German, but I guess he could learn. He face structure is like an actual skull.

But we don't know what direction they are going with the Red Skull character, whether or not he would just wear a actual Red Skull mask to protect his identiy, or his face would actual be morphed into a Red SKull. Either way I think both could work.

Also I would like to see Emily Blunt in this film as a female villain, maybe Red Skull's daughter. Since she had to give up the Black Widow role, and she has recently worked with The First Avenger's director, Joe Johnston on Wolfman.

She also has worked alongside Mark Strong as well.

Just thought I'd throw my opinion in the mix. Have a great day...lol

I'd very much for them to go the 'Inglourius Basterds' route and cast actors who are of the same nationality as their character. For example, an actual German as Red Skull.

why on earth are the so many models and TV actors in the list? Models can't act for crap, so for me, all of the models are out. Also, if you don't have much of a resume you're out for me too, so that's another 25% of the list gone. I think being too much of a name hurts you too, so Pitt and maybe even Leo are out. Jesus I hate casting threads on this site most of the time.

To be a good cast he only has to remotely look like the character, as in, his size can't be too far off (for instance, a guy can bulk up or lose a little weight but a total transformation, like John Goodman as Cap is bad). He needs to have a resume of roles that show he can do what the character needs or at least is versitile (Heath Ledger, very versitile, Christian Bale, very good at being dark). Finally, they have to be a hungry actor. You cast Johnny Depp as the Riddler or any other really obvious casting of a well known person and they're going to mail in the performance and it won't be great.

I'm not very knowledgeable of Captain America, but from what it seems from the list, no I didn't read all 84 pages, but from the list on the poll, it looks like people are being more strict on looks or obvious choices and not so much thinking outside the box.

I'll get back to you guys with my cast once I study Cap more.

Yea i am not worried right now for casting, with how other marvel studios films have turned up things are good. So i think marvel will nab some solid actors/actresses for cap film. As i said we will probably get steve rogers and maybe a few more known this coming month/feb since as i said they would need to give the guy at least a few months to get into better shape, any training needed, prep work, costume fittings and all that.

Btw, watching Deadwood again the other night, and Timothy Olyphant could pass for Cap. I just thought about it when thinking about what a tight arse for justice and the law Sherriff Bullock is haha.
