The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

I thought Bale was incredible in this film again. He gets a lot of grief from some people because he doesn't portray 'their' idealistic Batman. For me, he is extremely close to what I would love to see and couldn't have asked for a better combo of Bruce/Batman.

The one scene which stood out for me (and I mentioned this in the Rachel Dawes thread) is when Batman opens the doors to find Harvey. For that split second you can see the reaction on Batman's face and how disappointed he is in a sense to only find Harvey instead of Rachel. It's like at that moment he knew he let her down. If you missed it in the film, I would recommend paying EXTREME attention at that point again. It happens for a split second and is just heartbreaking.

I know!
Bale is so good at this, my favourite moment in The Machinist is the look on his face and his voice when he starts sayin "I know who you are. I know who you are!"

Batman is a monster, the growl is how the voice is described in the comics. It's the most intimidating and useful version. No Bat whisper ...

OFT. Bale should try his best completely separate the personanlities of Bruce Wayne and Batman, and he always does. The voice is the topping of the cake for me. People were complaining that he sounded weirder in his last talk to Joker, but, you know, he was stabbed, clubbed, and out of breath. There was good reason for him to be talking like that.:brucebat:

Some people just don't ****ing get it ... he has a seperate identity and the channeling of rage. It's not about having a Bruce Wayne identafiable whisper to a voice. Like most hardcore fanboys, they get an image or an idea in their head and can't accept adaptation intially ... if ever. I mean people complained about the Joker's look initially for TDK ... he was ****ing totally cool looking in a realistic adapted manner while still staying true to the characteristics. Bale's Batman voice is the best around, IMO. He actually had the balls to take it somewhere, and unfortunately either people who can't grasp it or had the same old same old idea in their head ... they were polarized by it. But you can't be mad that the guy with the most talent to don the cape and cowl had the balls and fortitiude to actually do something with voice and the character.

Totally right, w/o a shadow of a ****ing doubt. YOU my friend, GET IT.

Again, I agree. The voices enhances Batman's furious personality, and Bale does it better than anyone else who's played Batman.:brucebat:

hopefully bale is a bit bigger in the next film, and he has a villain that is a physical match to him.

Guys watch this video spoofing Bale's Batman voice, it's hilarious :hehe:

Bale's voice in TDK was best during the scene in the alley with Dent. Anyone else agree?

I thought Bale looked great in the movie. Does anyone know his measurements (weight, chest, waist)? I read somewhere that his body defines 'the perfect male'...it does in my book???

along with the maroni scene

all in all

when it didnt work it really sucked

Here's some new info that shed some light about this incident. Seems like Bale was provoked by his mother.

British paper says ‘The Dark Knight’ star angered by comment about wife
LONDON - New details are emerging in the arrest of “The Dark Knight” star Christian Bale.

The incident that led to the actor’s arrest reportedly occurred following a confrontation between the actor and his mother, Jenny Bale. She allegedly insulted Bale’s wife, Sandra ‘Sibi’ Blazic, according to Britain’s The Daily Mail.

A source close to Bale told the newspaper he “flew off the handle” at his London hotel when Jenny Bale said “some outrageous things” about her son and his wife.

Though “The Dark Knight” star was arrested and released on bail, the newspaper’s source claims Bale did nothing wrong.

“Christian was stressed, but he didn’t lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother. He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife,” the source said.

Bale’s lawyers issued a statement Tuesday denying the allegations of assault.

The actor’s sister, Sharon Bale, told Britain’s Telegraph an “incident” had occurred but would not offer up any details surrounding the events that led to her brother’s arrest.

“OK, there was an incident but the police are dealing with it,” she said. “It is an extremely sensitive situation. There is nothing more I can say.”

Jenny Bale was also tight-lipped, but said they did not call the police.

“Yes, I was there, and yes there was a family situation, but the police are handling it and I cannot say anymore at the moment,” Jenny told the Telegraph. “We didn’t call the police to the scene. I can’t say anymore, but we didn’t call the police.”

Bale is expected to attend “The Dark Knight” premiere in Barcelona, Spain, on Wednesday.

I wish Bale's voice in TDK had been more like Kevin Conroy's in BTAS, that was really the only let-down for me as far as his performance. :( Bale's public and private Bruce Wayne voices are good, but the Batman voice pales next to Conroy's. Bale just needs to lower & deepen his voice a bit, he doesn't need to turn it into what he has.

LMAO! I love Bale's voice in the movies though.

yea, unfortunatley you can be arrested for verbal assault!!!!! Usually though--its more so for the cops--you know when you get the dumba** thats talking mad sh** or is "threatening". But usually when it comes to males assualting females in any way-------its not taken too lightly. Its not fair IMO-----but hey--thats our society and its "rules".
I rather prefer worlds without rules.

And we get to the ULTIMATE heart of the matter of peoples issue with the voice. They yearned for it to be like Kevin Conroy's voice ... haha ... the supposed "definitive" Batman voice. Which generally isn't very threatning at all. Bale's Bat-voice is VERY deep, but as we know he purposely growls. Why would Bale try to copy a voice actor? Bale's mark on the character and spin to it is much stronger than Kevin Conroy's simpleton Batman voice.
