The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

Keaton had a low key raspy voice, yes. Bale's is a full on animalistic growl. It's not like Keaton's voice at all ...

That's the all point, bale never supposed to copy Keaton or Conroy and I liked more cos bale does his own voice.

Bale completely did his own thing. Either you get it and flat out like it ... or you were really just wishing that he repeated and copied one of the other actors interps of Batman's voice. But really? There was no where else to go that was fresh and new. It's described verbatim in Batman Year One as a very deep growl. Bale did this in spades. So it all boils down to opinion. And in all the reviews of the movies from professional critics, I haven't heard one article or complaint on it (till recently) that it distracted them from either Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. Honestly, the only ones who complain are either a) Conroy groupies b) Keaton groupies or possible c) Adam West groupies??? haha ... either way it's opinion, but it certainly works in both movies and never overshadows or takes away from a scene. Bale was excellent with both Bruce Wayne and Batman as characters.

Watch the Celebrity Deathmatcch episode with Bale and West... West wins for being for fun.:o

I do agree with what you wrote, though.

I liked the voice but Bale hammed it up slightly with some phrases. When he's interrogating Maroni and says "Soooomeone knows where he is" then later when he's talking to the Joker at the end and he says "This city just showed you its full of people ready to believe in goooood." Those phrases in particular sounded slightly campy b/c he dragged out certain words a little too long. Other than that I liked the voice.

i don't know if it's that bale was so great in other movies, or that the script or story just didn't let bale do his thing here, but i was just not in any way impressed.

he walked his way through this movie, in my opinion. he was, sadly and surprisingly, one of the least impressive actors in this movie.

and his batman voice was ridiculous, too. especially when hes talking to freeman, who knows who he is, but he still uses the voice.

In Begins The Bat-gadgets were

0. The Tumbler aka : The Batmobile
1. A magnetic gas-powered grapple gun
2. An encrypted cell phone on the utility belt
3. An advanced eavesdropping device inside the right ear of The Cowl
4. Batarangs
5. smoke bombs & mini explosives
6. periscope
7. remote control stick for the Batmobile
8. mini-cam
9. HF Transponder which summons bats

In The Dark Knight

1. New Batsuit
2. Gilder Wings & Sky Hook
3. Double fin retractable gauntlets
4. The Bat-pod
5. sticky mini Bat-bombs with sniper gun
6. Electric Bat-knife
7. Bat sonar-vision
8. A radiation pick-up device (Lightly a raided bills / The Mob money .)

I'm very excited to see what Lucius Fox gives to Batman in the third film .

I don't see why there's so many complaints with the voice, I didn't think it was bad at all and I liked how he changed his voice.

I disagree. In fact, I'm very excited to see what Batman gets for himself in the third one.

Only gripe I have with these movies, Bruce relies on Lucius too much.

Well there is stuff he gets for himself. The cowls, the batarangs. And one could assume the stuff you don't see Lucious getting for him(the explosives, the HF transponder, the bat sonar eye pieces for his cowl) he got on his own.

You forgot about the tazer built into his suit.

and the hydrolic gloves.
i think bale was brilliant throughout the movie, but what i was really impressed with was his cockiness and smugness as playboy bruce wayne. he just pulled it off perfectly, arrogant but not so arrogant that you hate him. i also liked it when he was getting his new suit off fox and he says "how will it hold up against dogs?" "we talking chihuas or rottweilers" then bruce gives this cheeky little grin, i thought that was well funny.

Bale actually looks like he could be a cocky smug billionaire in reality. I still love his Batman....his is the best to date.

Hi everyone venom628 here and i've started to make this thread for all the peoples favourite charcter Batman. Just so you all know CHRISTIAN BALE IS BRUCE WAYNE!

Superior to Michael Keaton. I know Keaton was Batman, but we just gotta let it go. :woot:

Firstly, how good looking is Christian Bale? Damn near perfect.

His talent is boundless. Upon my second viewing of the Dark Knight I noticed the subtle difference between public Bruce Wayne and private Bruce Wayne.

For the private Bruce Wayne his face is tense and his eyes focused whilst public "playboy" Bruce Wayne is wide eyed with a relaxed face (which frankly, take years off Christian's face) and looser movements.

As Batman he radiates anger not an easy feat behind the black eyes and mask.

I must admit I'm a sucker for the "playboy" Bruce Wayne bits.

upon my second viewing... Ii noticed just how brilliantly subtle Bales performance was...

Perhaps that was needed in contrast to Ledgers manic one.

He deserves a little more praise... as he didn't just walk through the film. Even in the suit... the emotion was very strong.

yea alot of people are saying ledger overshadowed him, but you cant really compare because their roles are so different. The Joker is a manic, energenic scenery chomper while Bruce/Batman is supposed to be brooding, deeply thoughtful and meticulous. Bales role is a lesson in subtlety, people who complain that he just walked through the movie and didnt express himself obviously have no clue about the character he's playing.

Ya see it sucks people say those things because I loved Bale's performance in this movie.

And what I like about it is because it still feels like this is Bruce growing into the Batman role that we now currently know in the comics.

You can tell physically that Bale puts himself into the character a lot more. All his interaction with the Joker is great. He really nails it.

ledger needed to act extreme and crazy for the joker. so obviously the joker will pop out more on the screen then bale. so i really dont understand why its all about ledger. Bale was acting 100% great through the film.
plus i liked very much the crying of Bale. it looked 100% real and ''NORMAL''. i hate how in other movies they go overboard. it looks campy sometimes. here it looked great.

yea it looked like he was trying to bottle it in, which is dangerous for your sanity but true to the character. you wouldn't see bruce wayne flat out bawl his eyes out with his lips quivering!! (spidey i'm looking at you!). i also loved the little smirks he does, its just perfect bruce wayne and he does them so subtly

I really want to see Batman crouching on a building munching on some protein bar he just pulled from his belt. just really quickly

i wanted a scene where joker goes to a drum n bass rave and gets bang on the disco biscuits!! and his face glows due to the fluorescant lights which would be very trippy!! i could imagen the joker is a bit of a raver to be honest.

yeah batman eating would show us how long he is on the streets.

plus Nolan pleeeease a training scene in hes batcave for the third movie. pelaseeeeeeeee.

you never even see him eating in the comics. some people might think it would make him look mundane...i think it'd show how hardcore he is.

I remember seeing him cooking a steak while talking on the phone with some cop, he was saying something about how it has to be on the fire for the right amount of time and then he goes "...it´s ruined".
