But the mouse was created (on book at least) before puss 'n boots. :p

Ditto that.

cause im sure in the book he looked and sounded exactly like antonio banderas' puss 'n boots....

and it doesnt help that its the same guy who directed shrek!!

so if i were to read the Narnia books, which one should I start with? I remember reading TLWW when I was a kid.

You should be able to read them in order. I don't remember having a hard time trying to figure out the chronlogical order for 6 and 7.

Yes.

It's been a while since I've read them all but there I don't you'd have that big of a problem if you read them out of order either. CS Lewis does give alot of expostion of previous happenings in the series.

If it can manage 200 Mill and decent WW numbers it won't be too bad, I think the change in tone is what caught people off guard since the first film was good but not great and they really stepped it up. So I feel if they make another one, it'll probably make more money.

I hope they make another one. I was hoping this franchise would take over the Potter franchise. Cause I like this series better.

yeah. the HP series has never ever interested me. I like this one a lot.

Centaurs rule!

They will, unlike WB, Disney is willing to give series like this a chance. This was hardly a BO flop, but the estimators were way off. For what reason? I have no idea why.

I still think based on the type of movie this is, there won't be a huge drop off, so I think it could reach 175-200 million is not out of the question, but it needs to hold at 35 million next week, which I think is doable, even with Indy coming out.

They are already in pre-production for Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but likely they will move the film back to a November/December release.

I also agree, I like this series much better than Potter. I liked the first Harry Potter, but after a while the stories grew rediculous and old. What I always liked about the Narnia books, is each book is a work of it's own, and unique in it's own way.

There was no change in tone. These movies are based on books that have been out for over 40 years. Both the first movie and this one follow the books very closely, closer than Lord of the Rings, closer than Harry Potter. As I said in fairness, these books aren't as long so it's easier to do a straight transition. Again I'm not commenting on the quality of the movie vs, those films, but the movie was successful in it's transition to the screen, therefore a success overall.

I've read all the harry potter books, read Lord of the Rings, and have read the Narnian books, as well as having seen all the movies you've just mention.

My point still stands, there is a change in tone and quality. LWW was a much more fluffier movie, the christian undertones far easier to see, etc. Prince Caspian, on the other hand is darker, more serious, and over-all a better movie, it is a change from the first movie. Also to keep in mind is LWW is a much more popular book than any of hte other books. Now I did not say that this was a change from the books, it simply is a change, now whether that change is reflected in the books is irrelevant. Now... Please cancel out your fanboyism and read my post again, I was not commenting on the success in terms of quality of the film but in Box Office which is a radically different thing. So again my point still stands, an apology or no response will suffice, thank you :)

It's not irrelevant. Any change in tone you sense is due to the face that the author meant this to be a different Narnia than the one from the first book. I don't know why you call that fanboyism, that's stating a fact. The movies follow the books, you act as if there was a consious effort on the film makers to say "screw what we did in the first movie" when that movie was extremely successful.

My three points:

1. Change in tone from the first

2. This change made the film better than the first

3. It also is what causing the film to not have the high box office predicted.

---

Um when did I say that the film-makers were saying screw the first movie, it's not as if they made a complete departure from the first film but it is a great deal more darker. You simply did not read my post correctly and I corrected you. Now if you'd like to disagree eith either of my three points knock yourself out but so far you keep posting out of some sense of pride is what I sense, but you're wrong and I make that statement based on the fact that you haven't disagreed with one thing I've said but simply misconstrued it. Anything else?

56 million this weekend...I'm sure they were expecting more
I know i was like that's all. Iron Man pulled in another 30 million.

It seems people aren't just liking the summer movies so far.

I mean i'm sure they expected close to 80 million or so opening weekend.

It is a shame because Prince Caspian was awesome :(

If this statement weren't ignorant on so many levels it might be funny.

1.) Reepicheep in the book is describes as wearing a large plume and was an expert swordsman.

2.) In the book, he is described as being much larger than a "dumb animal" mouse, being a Narnian and all.

3.) A mouse doesn't look like a cat

4.) Antonio Banderas is a Spaniard, wheras Reepicheep speaks with a noble English accent.

5.) Get off your lazy butt, turn off the X-box and the Dragon Ball-Z cartoons and try reading a book for a change. I realize this would require effort on your part, but you might actually enjoy it.

You do realize the following that the director of this film is the director of Shrek 2? And that just because its written down before another character in the medium of a novel does not mean that it excludes it from having some influence from a film version that came out before the film version in question. Why are you being such a dick? Keep it up and I'll report you to the mods.

Ok, lets have some calm in here, no need for ppl to be getting aggro with each other.

saw it last night, i didn't enjoy it too much, but it was ok... i haven't seen the frist one or read the books, so i was a little confused as to what was going on.

Well maybe you can single out Tony Stark and tell him to not be so condescending and rude. There was no reason for a post like that.

Cut Hunter some slack because if he did that then everyone attack him for favortism*SP and let's be honest, Tony Stark isn't completely to blame. I, myself, was blasting away with incidentory comments. So let's just move on with the discussion.

Well The Dawn Teader was set for 2010 release and there is your problem for Harry Potter part 1 of book 7 is released in November likely and The Hobbit will be released in december. So Narnia 3 will likely be a summer experiment. There was just too much over load this May. Prince Caspian is a nice change up but Iron Man and Indy 4 are the movies this may that resemble Spiderman 3 and Shrek 3 last May.

Saw it this afternoon. I liked it. Andrew Adamson has made some MAJOR improvements as a live-action director. The movie was better shot, edited, and the whole look was superior from the original.
