I know right lets see a 200 million dollar movie or some little kids movie? That's a hard choice. If anything they should have moved that water horse movie. They bit themself in the butts on this one there selfs.

Saw this today and really enjoyed it, not better than the first movie IMO but not worse than it either, they're about on par IMO, but the battle/action scene's in this movie were a lot better than in the first, especially the end when Aslan summons the water God.

The only thing that stopped me from giving this was a SEVERE lack of Aslan, now i havent read the books, so dont know if it is true to them, but Aslan only being in the movie for about 20 minutes AT THE MOST was a big turn off for me, he was the character i was most interested in seeing again so that dissapointed me greatly. Though when he was on screen, he was once again an awesome sight to behold. I suppose it sort of made sense that he wasnt in it much, since even most of the Narnian's believed he would never return, but still, it was dissapointing that he barely even got in the action also. But how the effects for Aslan delayed this movie when he was hardly in it is beyond me.

BUT, it was still very good, the kids were better, Ben Barnes was good as Caspian, and i liked the tension between him and Peter (who also had a little bit of welcome edge to him this time also), and the movie had some very good emotional scene's in it which didnt make the movie flat (though non were as good as Aslan's resurrection in the first movie).

Miraz was no were near as good a bad guy/girl as the White Witch was, and it was nice for her to get a little cameo, but a bad guy/girl of her calibre was SORELY missing, which didnt make the outcome of the battle at the end as satisfying as it was in the first movie.

Overall 8/10, about the same level as the first movie for me. Its a shame a third entry is doubtful at this point.

It followed the books pretty closely. And I wouldn't consider a third entry doubtful.

I sort of understand why he wasnt in the movie as much, it plays with the religious allegories a bit more, 'if you do not believe in God, he cannot help you' etc, but still, he was the character i wanted to see the most so, you can imagine my dissapointment when we barely got 20 mins of him.

Me neither now, Dawn Treader has already seemingly been greenlight, though it doesnt make much business sense considering this will probably not even reach $350 million WW, shame, it deserves to make as much as the first movie if not more, maybe the 3rd movie will go back to a Christmas release.

See above. Its nice to see a studio keeping faith in a franchise despite the fact one of them hasnt done so well, though i assume the budget for Dawn Treader may not be as high as that of Prince Caspian. I also suspect Dawn Treader could be pulled after Caspian's performance, we'll see i guess.

You also have to keep in mind that the studio acknowledged that the release date for Caspian was a HUGE mistake and that they only reason they didn't release it for the Winter (ala Wardrobe) was because they didn't want to compete with that Waterhorse movie...

Hopefully they wise up for the next one and release the future films during the Winter/Christmas season...that is when this series will make its money.

Yeah, it was because The Waterhorse was another Walden production and they didn't want both competing against each other.

Hopefully they will shoot for a Winter 2009 or 2010 opening for Dawn Treader, which I'm glad will be made and hopefully it performs better than Caspian did in the states. Now, while Caspian has had a disappointing run in the states, it's doing pretty good internationally and should clear 500+ million worldwide which is pretty good if you ask me.

I can imagine your disappointment. But the series has stuck fairly close to the books thus far. I would expect them to continue that trend. As for more entries, Dawn Treader has already been put into motion. As has been said before, Wardrobe did well because of the Christmas release date. Caspian feel victim to the horrific Waterhorse and was moved up in release as a result. I can only hope that the studio has learned from that mistake.

I saw it last week.


I enjoyed it a fair bit, the kids were much better, as was the action and set pieces. My favourite scene was the White Witch rebirth. The conflicted nature of the two male leads needing the extra power of the witch but knowing the price.

The most endearing factor by far in the movie to me was the character/performance of Edward. In the original, he was the deepest character, conflicted and flawed. In this one, he was the one that really got things done. He eliminated the temptation of the White Witch (having been badass enough to slay the werewolf), he scouted the castle and surveyed the damage in one of the better shots. The support he provided Peter with was great too.

My main flaw with the film was the overwhelming tone of blind faith throughout the entire movie. In the first there were physical comparisons to be sure, but here up until the finale, there was a constant barrage of loyal, blind, faith concepts that rubbed me the wrong way.

True, but IM had hype building from a year before its release, and Indy was always going to be a hit, so i dont think it was that much of a surprise.

If they move it back to a winter release, i can see the 3rd one making plenty of money. Narnia in summer just obviously doesnt work.

Got a 10th December release here also, already did a pre-order the stores are much quicker with pre-orders than that they use to be. They even already got dates for TDK, Hancock and Wanted.

I actually am waiting for this to come out on blu-ray....The first movie just didn't grab me. The whole "kid heroes" thing was meh for me.

just looked up the list again, although they are Dutch releases just to say.
Well we got Iron Man up here for Ocktober 2nd, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian for December 12th, Indiana Jones IV for Ocktober 28th, The Dark Knight for January 12th, Hancock for November 11th and Wanted same as The Dark Knight on January 12th. For so far the list i followed with these releases has been pretty accurate so far only a few have been incorrect in the past.

It's a Dutch release so it could be different for the US because the movie came out a month later than in the US so there is a possibility of a pre-US release for the movie.
