It's been 9 months.

And things haven't ramped up with attentions turned towards the midterm elections.

I honestly, truly don't know how to keep going on. I hit a point where I want to just ignore politics for a while and focus on mental health, but it's literally everywhere. Choking every social media feed, Youtube update, tv channel, news site, message board. The family where I am now has Fox News on literally 24/7. It is impossible to get any kind of a break from anything, and I just need to get away from how horrible things keep getting.

I'll be voting, it's as much as I can do, but I honestly don't know what's going to be left a year from now.

What kills me is just how quickly and effortlessly everything has fallen apart. News networks, institutions of learning, legal organizations, basic humanity and decency, the thought that most people were generally good, and any kind of desire to work towards a better future (that "better future" has become so corrupted at this point).

The courts are doing what they can but..for what? Things get bounced up to the supreme court and rubber stamped, so the law barely matters. And if any kind of ruling holds, it just won't be followed. Or it will be argued and kicked further down the road until it doesn't even matter anymore.

What's going to happen to the midterms? I feel like this admin can do just about anything they want. Roll in the national guard and Ice, just grab people from polling stations, and then say "whoops, our bad" after the voting is over. What possible reaction would there be to something like that that would be timely and effective to save our rights and ensure a clean voting season? That's not even to mention any really crazy behind the curtain actions like were tried before, either before, during, or after the voting happens.

I feel like the best we have to look forward to is a court saying, "Hey, that's wrong, you can't do that!" months after the election cycle is over. I want to be wrong, but things are way, way worse than I imagined when we were going into the 2020 and 2024 elections. What institution should I expect is going to hold fast for another year and a half to protect the country?

I certainly never anticipated things would be this bad, that anyone supposedly having the power to curb Trump is bending the knee instead. It's only embolding Trump to just keep plowing ahead. I think it's a genuine concern to wonder if those midterms will even take place, or if they do they will be so badly rigged by gerrymandering as to be useless and a waste of time. Trump might even get that third term because why not? Who will even stop it? Certainly not the Constitution that no longer seems to be worth the paper it's printed on. I just feel sick, just sick.
