Breaking into a bank and taking out a security guard, no problem at all.
Thats right Vigilante doesnt know that I can only use two powers at the same time.
I then use my vision ability to locate the where about of the guards. I see that both of them our on the opposite parts of the building standing in front of doors.
I then walk up to Vigilante right before we begin to enter and whisper to him. I think your right about them watching us. There are only two guards in a bank watching it? Something doesnt seem right about that. Anyways there is one at the east part of the building and the other at the west. If you dont mind Im get the one the west side.
Right before entering I tell him. Watch your back. I have a funny feeling about this.
"Yeah, kid. You're telling me..." Isaac thinks to himself. "I've dealt with more security scoping out abandoned warehouses and derelict factories... this is supposed to be a major bank and there's only two guys watching over it?" "THAT does not add up. ...and people who are playing with large amounts of money are generally VERY good at adding these kinds of things up..."
Isaac enters the building and furtively creeps down the hall to the main Eastern corridor. Back firmly to the wall he edges his way to the corner. Isaac exhales, feeling very exposed in his red and grey garb and out of his comfortable black gear. Digging into a pouch within the outfit he removes the new iPod. Flipping it over he uses the shiny silver back as a mirror to sneak a peek around the corner.
Nobody.
Nobody is there, but there is a CCTV camera hanging 9ft up the wall, supported by a bracket. Above the camera, a small device with a red light hanging above it.
Well, that fits in. With only two people guarding a major international bank you'd expect at least a few closed circuit cameras around the place. Its still not a great deal of security even with the cameras and the two guards. That was a sticking point, Samson was right. It just didn't make sense.
Watching for longer he could see that every two minutes the red light would flick to green. Isaac took this observation on board and came up with the only logical conclusion.
It's on a circuit... the main monitor or monitors rotate through all of the banks cameras, the light goes green and "You're on the air" with the device above the camera also fitted with a motion sensor, which would override the regular rotation.
Taking another peek around the corner he got more frustrated. He only needed to get about 30 feet... but in two minutes? Moving slowly enough to not be picked up by motion sensors? Plus there's the other concern, he had no idea if Samson even realised the place was being monitored, the longer Isaac delayed the more chance the guards would be alerted of their presence.
There was only one thing to do. Move now. Isaac waited until he saw the light flick from green back to red and slowly came around the corner. He kept his body low with his eyes fixed on the red light, begging it to stay in its crimson state. He crawled at a snail's pace, counting the seconds in his head as the light went from the red to a new, unnerving amber colour. Isaac froze, his heart beat in his chest like a heavy bass as he glared up at the light willing it to revert to its red nature. Seconds spilled over, going to waste as he counted them off. Seconds he didn't have.
"Fifty - fourty nine - fourty eight..." Isaac counted down. The amber light, as if it were satisfied that it had proved its point, reverted to red. Fourty seven seconds and he was yet to travel half the distance, he couldn't afford another scare like that. He once again crawled forward slightly slower than before. His eyes, as always, fixated on the scarlet light. He concentrated on keeping his heart rate down and counting off the seconds; "thirty three - thirty two - thirty one..." ten feet now. Simple math told him he'd wasted 3/4 of the time to travel only 2/3 of the distance, but he continued, confident that he could still hide his own presence.
"Nine - eight - seven..." five feet... the math doesn't work.
[BLACKOUT]"Then f*** math."[/BLACKOUT] "Four - three - two..." three feet...
Fontaine explodes from the darkness, diving and rolling beyond the cameras view. The light bursts to green to catch his movement, but Isaac had already considered this. He'd have covered the distance and the time was close enough to two minutes that any onlookers would believe it to just be the regular rotation.
Isaac gets to his feet and goes back-to-the-wall again. Edging towards the door directly underneath the camera but not in its line of sight. Artificial light shon through the crack underneath the door... his target was beyond it. Isaac started to reach for the door handle when...
His hip.
Isaac ruffled under his tights in a flurry, his hip was vibrating.
[BLACKOUT]"S###, again???"[/BLACKOUT]
Lifting the grey and red he can see a single character, with the electronice blue lighting behind it...
"V" "V" "V" "V"...
This wasn't like before... this wasn't a single member trying to contact him. It was a Fifth level incident. Any higher and chances were you were already dead...
Isaac wasted 5 seconds to evaluate the situation. The way he saw it, he'd not run into anyone other than Samson since arriving back in the country. The others would assume he was almost 20 hours away, since he'd told them beforehand he'd always be there within 24 hours of the call. They hadn't matched the accent up, and had respected his privacy with his old residence that they knew about (not that he let that matter - he swept it clean and moved out) but they knew enough that he was from another country and were thankful for what help he had to offer. So whilst he knew this was of Level V priority he also knew that this could be Samson and his ONE shot at getting after Themis.
You screw this and they go underground. They go underground and you don't hear from them til they're ready.
You get a genecidal group of meta-humans who want to wipe clean "the mistakes of the past" or "the dregs which evolution left behind" or "Fontaine and every other regular Joe on the planet" in a position where they're "ready"...
and, well... that's pretty much a Level V priority incident as well... even when the incident is in his "Home away from Home".
So taking another breathe and trying to concentrate on the job at hand he reaches once again for the doorhandle, pulling it slightly towards him to reduce friction before slowly and silently turning the handle. The guard is seated at a TV set, his back to Isaac and the door.
Isaac leaves the door open for a few seconds before looking to enter. A fortunate second's clarity and he realises exactly what's going on with only two guards... and he knows exactly how to handle it.
Stick with the plan in the car. Pulling the iPod out once more before selecting an option. A short movie plays, Isaac watches intently, blurring his eyes like a child trying too hard to see a Magic Eye image... The iPod shows part of an action film. A man sneaks behind a mercenary and locks a sleeper hold onto him. The mercenary struggles for a few seconds and drifts into unconsciousness.
Fontaine puts the iPod away again, and his gaze falls upon the guard. The guard is sitting at the TV watching an old Law and Order repeat. Isaac blurs his eyes again and grins. In two seconds Isaac glides silently through the door and across the room, where he slides his arm under the guard's chin and locks in the sleeper. The second his arm curled around the seated guard's face panic struck him and he struggles, with a perfectly executed kick Isaac sweeps the chair away and puts a knee in the middle of the guard's back to apply more torque. The guard, unable to get leverage quickly blacks out. Leaving Isaac to grab the key and run out of the door.
Fontaine had just pieced things together, he had to find Samson... and fast.
