Just outside Earth's orbit, an ominus shape looms. As it moves closer to its intended target, those who control it monitor the events on the planet below.

Mutilating the planet's moon with one swift move was only the first phase of the Arlaaekan invaders plans. Not only was it a way to cause devestation of unparrallel proportions on the planet; but also a test of sorts, a way to not only gage the ability of Earth and its people to deal with the destruction, but also the abilities of its heroes.

And they are not impressed.

As the mothership slows to a stop just above the plant, several massive hangar doors, each the size of four city blocks open...and thousands of smaller vessels, begin to emerge from it. So many ships enter the Earth's atmosphere that just by their sheer number, they block out the sun...turning day into night.

The invasion has begun.

[BLACKOUT]ULTIMA[/BLACKOUT]

Ultima is watchig the city at his usual spot, the Fairbanks building overlooking the mid-town district. He sees the small Arlaaekan space crafts cloud the sky like a sea of locusts.

"Time to go to work" Ultima says before flying away.

S.T.R.I.K.E agent Frank West sits in office watching the flatscreen LCD television planted on his wall. The channel 8 news, along with every other channel, is covering the most recent and alarming news update, an alien invasion.
Frank picks up his phone and begins to dial out.

"Spartan...it's Frank. We need to talk. NOW"

The Survivor had lost track of Archangel during the fight as swarms of Madlove's followers piled onto him. There were too many to fight off with any sense of grace, and Adam had to consciously hold back his punches to avoid killing the lot of them, and the end result was exactly what the mad preacher had wanted: a distraction to allow him to make his escape.

survivor016mj3.jpg

"Get off me! You're all morons!" he screamed at his attackers. "Angel-Guy? You need any help?" Calling for the other man who seemed to be on his side, the Survivor didn't hear a response before things got worse...An agonizing hour later, rescue crews finally got around to reaching the collapsed church on their tour of the city's countless damaged buildings. Underneath of the rubble, the workers eventually dug down deep enough to find a wall of steel and bricks being held up to protect a small frightened crowd of drugged out followers of the Church of Madlove from the tons of ruination above them.

One of the rescue workers crawled over to the superhero. "Y-you're that Senator--"

"Survivor," Adam corrected.

"You're that Survivor!" Checking the pulses of the unconscious churchgoers as he spoke, the flashlight on the man's hardhat annoyed the Survivor without fail every time that the light hit his eyes in the pitch black quarters. "I saw on the news when you and the Blue Blur took on these--"

"Just get me and these people out of here, pal. And if you find a guy who looks like an angel--with wings and everything--down here too, give him my regards."
In a matter of minutes, the Survivor and the rescue crews had managed to finally unhinge Madlove's limp followers from the rubble and were just bringing them up to the surface when thunder suddenly boomed through the air. Placing two of his now unconscious former attackers onto the cracked pavement at his feet, the Survivor took pause to scan the empty street. "Weren't there ambulances here when you guys went down to get us?" he asked.

Another thunderous boom.

Perplexed, the emergency worker looked around frantically. The area seemed deserted. All that remained were piles of wreckage and concrete up and down the empty street. "Y-y-yeah, we had paramedics waiting for us and everything." Turning back to the superhero with his eyes filled with fear, he screamed, "They wouldn't just leave us here!"

Yet more sounds of thunder echoed around them, and getting closer.

"Waitasecond... I don't think that that's thunder we're hearing." Gesturing to the other man to be silent, Adam listened intently. "Maybe they had no choice but to leave us behind. Maybe they ran away."

Struggling to find words, the man could only manage a fearful whisper. "Ran away?" he gasped. "From what?"

"From me, you fools!"

The Survivor couldn't explain it. One moment the street was deserted, and the next, a massive otherworldly suit of battle armor had appeared. Was it using some sort of cloaking technology to sneak up on them, or could the suit simply be astoundingly fast for something so huge?! Not even having a split second to consider it, the alien within the armor laughed at the Earthlings before it, and raised its arm that wielded a glowing energy cannon so that these pathetic creatures might very well look up the barrel.

"No! Don't!" To Adam Locke's--The Survivor's--horror, the blast of burning alien fire was unleashed, and seared through his body like a blowtorch through butter. The men who were around him moments before were now reduced to nothing more than bloody entrails sent sailing through the air.

Please God, let me pass out.

When the smoke cleared, the Arlaaekan battle armor was gone, having moved on to find more humans to annihilate. If he could form a coherent thought at the moment, Adam would curse his own superhuman stamina for keeping him conscious. As it was, however, the Survivor had been reduced to a steaming mess of burning muscle. His skin had been vaporized, and one of his arms and legs were missing. Splashed all over him, though, was the blood and fried organs of the rescue workers and Madlove's followers.

"No," he whispered deliriously. "Nononononononono...."

“Why are we in the middle of no were?” Dean ask Spartan as they stand in the middle of no where surrounded by an ocean of desert. The location that they stood at was a area own by S.T.R.I.K.E.

“We’re here because this is the testing site our next member will be at.”

“What can he do?”

“Build things.” Spartan answers as he looking around the area.

“Doesn’t sound to much of a bad ass to me to join this little team of yours.”

“If it makes you feel any better he put up a better fight than you when I first fought him.”

The comment left Dean a bit annoyed but taking action wouldn’t do anything but end up with the same out come from 4 hours ago.

While searching the area they heard what sounded like a jet plane from above passing them by. Both look up.

“Thought you said this was S.T.R.I.K.E area, wouldn’t that also include air space?”

“Look closely.” Spartan answer back. Dean then looked up in the sky and at first nothing couldn’t be seen other than clouds and the bright sun, but as Dean kept looking up the ninobites adjusted his sight giving him telescopic vision revealing a robotic looking man in the air. The person was flying around doing some pretty cool maneuvers till he notices Spartan and Dean watching the show. Right away the person flew down to the ground landing a couple of feet in front of Spartan.

“Spartan what are you doing here I never thought I would see you again.” The voice coming from this body of armor sounded like a grown mans voice mix with a little robotic tune.

“I need your help.”

“Really my help? Just tell me what you need any I’m there for you bro.”

Dean had looked at Spartan thinking to him self that he couldn’t possibly want this guy on there team, he doesn’t seem like he fits in.

“I have to put a gro…” Before Spartan could finish he got interrupted.

“Hold on a sec let me get out of this. Armor release.”

After the word command the front of the armor open up revealing a little boy inside. The boy step down out of the suit and walk up to Spartan.

“I had to get out of there I had broke the AC inside and didn’t get a chance to fix it. Now what were you saying?”

“I want you to be apart of a team I’m putting together. I must tell you that what we will be doing will be very dan…”

“… I’m in, say no more. It is better fighting with you than against you.”

Ripclaw steps back figuratively speaking.

“Wait Spartan, are you saying you want this boy to join us? Don’t you know he will die?”

Spartan looks at his side staring Ripclaw in his eyes.

“First that boy you are looking at can take care of himself. Second I really just want him to join for his intelligence. He is an expert when it comes to strategy. Trust me when I tell you I wouldn’t have asked him to join if I wasn’t sure he wouldn’t be a great asset.”

Ripclaw takes another once over at the boy shaking his head.

“Don’t worry about me sir I can hold my own. Heck it took Spartan here 45 minutes to finally take me in.”

45 minutes? Ripclaw thought to himself. How could one boy hold back Spartan for so long. A feat like that is more than impressive. It is well known that there isn’t one person who ever had a chance at beating Spartan and for a boy to hold him back for such a long time is pretty far from amazing. Makes you wonder what others members Spartan will be recruiting.

After acquiring James also known as The Sentry, the three were on a private jet heading to a secret location to gather the other members of the Executioners. The area where they are heading is known as S.T.R.I.K.E holding ceil for there most dangerous Metahumans. Spartan knows that for the task he has at hand there is specific group of people he will need. This location they are going is the place to find them.

As the plane is landing James stares out of his window wondering where they could be.

“You know Spartan I’m not the smartest person in the world and not the dumbest but I can’t seem to figure out where we are. I know the world map like the back of my hand. This area doesn’t ring a bell.”

“That’s because it’s not on a map. This was created by a metahuman many years ago. There are only a select few in the organization that knows of its existence. The most powerful and dangerous of metahumans stay on this island.” The tone is Spartans voice when he was replying to James kind of gave a he been here type vibe to the others.

“How do you know so much about this place?” Ripclaw asks as the plane comes to a stop.

“This is where I was born.” Spartan replies as he gets up out of his chair heading to the exit.

As they are exiting the plane two young men stood just ahead of them as if they were waiting for there arrival. James felt a little uneasy about how they were staying at him. He felt as if they were looking at him like he was fresh meat.

“Spartan why are they looking like that?”

“Being on this island means you have no contact with the free world. For you this is your world.”

“I see.” James could understand there situation a little better now. Theirs no telling how long it must have been since they seen anyone outside of the island.

“So why are they here?”

“They are the new members.” Spartan responds.

“The one of the left is Joshua Logan better known as Heat-Wave.”

After hearing his name Heat-Wave lit his eyes on fire to give a little display of why he is called that.

“The other is Gregory Smith also goes by G-Force.”

All five stood huddled up together as Spartan told them the reason on why they were assembled.

“You know Spartan me and sparky here could have got on a plane to meet up with you. We are allowed to leave this place under the right circumstances. You didn’t have to fly all the way here to get us and tell us what’s going on.”

“I didn’t know we were so important to you.”

“Your not.” Spartan said directed toward Heat-Wave.

“I came this way because there is someone else here I need to get and he couldn’t simply be flown out of here. You guys were just a bonus.”

“Talk about making a guy feel good about himself.” Heat-Wave said sarcastically.

Spartan decide to stop the conversation right there as he just turn away from the others and headed toward the big steel door that stood 15 feet high and 10 feet wide that was just behind them.

“So your just going to walk away like that.” Heat-Wave shouted as he waited for Spartans rely.

“Really? Your going to play the tough guy act and not say nothing?” Still Heat-Wave didn’t get a response from Spartan as the doors opens and he continues to walk inside.

“You want me to cause a big explosion so you can walk away from it looking cool while we burn to death?”

“That’s enough. I’m tired of hearing you speak.” Gregory stated.

Spartan stood in front of a steel door that is highly secure. He open a slit that was on the door looking through seeing what look like a man locked up on the other side of the door.

“I told you I’ll be back.” Spartan said to the prisoner.

The captive slowly raises his head and responds by saying.

“So they must have arrived like I told you they would?”

“Yes they did and also like I told you if they did you will be free but only with a price.”

He knew that it couldn’t be that easy. “Let me guess you wish for me to join you?”

“Like you told me before you have encountered them so you should know what we are up against. Besides what other choice do you have?”

“Very well I shall join you Spartan of earth.”

Spartan then close the slit on the door and leans back looking at a guard sitting at some control panels.

“Let him out.” Spartan shouts.

Spartan and now the new member of the Executioners walk out heading towards the rest of the group. While they were approaching James held a phone in his hand running up to Spartan.

“I think you are going to get this.” He says and he looks up in the sky.

“This is Spartan."

I stand and watch as the massive invasion force enters our atmosphere. They deal with what little resistance they face from the military with swift, brutal, efficiency.

As they touch down on Earth I am filled with a sense of awe....

Almost.

They have come here with overwhelming numbers to take our world and make it their own, and according to the one being on Earth who knows these invaders, many have tried to stop them in the past, but nobody has come close.

But they've never come to this world...MY world before, and I will not let them destroy it.

As the invasion force's fighter craft engage the military fighter jets it becomes clear, the time for standing around is over...

It's time to go to work.

archangelbanner1.jpg

The entire building's coming down! My sword stops igniting as I find myself struggling to fend off these lunatics from Madlove's church. I can't hurt them, but I gotta get OUTTA here!!

"Stop it. Are you guys nuts?!"

In the short distance, I see Madlove himself and several of his followers making an escape as the other followers remain to try to keep this mysterious black-coaked dude and myself busy. No doubt Madlove told his followers that those who stay here are going to be granted true Enlightenment when they die. Jake's amongst the group with Madlove as the villainous coward escapes.

I CAN'T let that madman run off with my girlfriend's little brother.

I CAN'T!

“Outside, quickly! Get to safety!” I call out the remaining churchgoers. The remaining followers storm out of the church like a stampede. I take one last look at my church and at the loyal followers who continued to swarm and attack the two monsters.

“Your sacrifices shall not be in vain,” I muttered as I step outside and shut the doors behind me. I stand in front of the building and hold my hands up to the heavens. I shut my eyes and concentrate for a moment. The ground rumbles, the walls tremble. I jerk my hands downward and the church roof caves in. Another quick jerk and the walls crumble. Everything and everyone inside was now buried under tons of concrete and steel.

I tell my followers that we should return to our respective homes for now and quickly leave the scene.

The Church of Madlove was done. For now.

Summoning a gust of wind to finally push away these delusional, religious, cultists, I am able to get them off of me. I turn, seeing the darkly cloaked man still dealing with the followers of Madlove's church.

"Get off me! You're all morons!" he screamed at his attackers. "Angel-Guy? You need any help?" Calling for the other man who seemed to be on his side, the Survivor didn't hear a response before things got worse...

I could stop and help him. He needs my help if he's going to survive this building cave-in...I think. But Madlove's running off, and he's taken Jake with him thinking that I'm some sort of Negative force that needs to be eraticated from this world.

I'm...sorry. But I don't shout it out or even give a faint whisper to the couragious man who tries to fight off the other followers and keep what's left of the building from falling down. I have to find Jake.

So taking to the skies, I start to look and track down where Madlove and his junkies have run off to. They couldn't have gotten too far. I'll find them.

Soon after the appearance of the Arlaaekan armada, the city began to burn. Not only was the city being decimated from the air, but by the massive Arlaaekan battle suits that had begun attacking from the streets as well.

As Icon flies above the city toward the airships that are assaulting Lost Haven from above, he notices one of the battle suits...and the small group of civilians that it is corralling into an alley. Within a fraction of a second Icon changes direction and moves right at the Arlaaekan.

As he approaches the alien, Icon wastes no time, and gives no warning. He just strikes. Icon pummels the Arlaaekan battle suit, easily avoiding its attempted counter attacks.

The fight last only a few moments, and when it is over, the battle suit is reduced to scrap metal.

Icon looks to the civilians, who are still standing in the alley, awestruck by what they just saw.

"It's not safe, you people need to get out of here now!" Icon says as several more of the giant battle suits come to a stop in front of the hero.

Icon braces himself for another fight as the lead battle suit levels its weapons at him. Before Icon can do anything, they fire.

Before the Destruction: Part 2

“Lexa I must say that at first I was kind of hesitate about coming here. I thought that maybe I wouldn’t fit in with the high class but with you I’m having a good time.”

She looks at me and smiles, right when she is about to reply a door not to far from us is force off its hinges. Three guys walk through the doorway and one on the right aims his hands at the entrance and ice comes out and freezes the door shut.

“This can’t be good.” I say to myself but Im pretty sure Lexa also heard me.

The one in the middle of the three walks up to the middle of the room.

“Listen everyone I don’t have a lot of time and I don’t like to repeat myself so please just do as I say and promise you we shall be gone before you know it.”

This is just perfect, with all these people around I can’t use my powers to save them or my identity will be found out and I left my costume in the limo. PERFECT!

“Now I’m looking around and I can’t seem to find Mr. Love now I know you are here because I just handed you a drink, so Mr. Love please stand up.”

Everyone including myself is waiting for him to show himself but he doesn’t as if he is hiding. I wouldn’t blame him.

“I see. I really hate doing things this way. Sonic grab her.”

The guy points at Lexa.

“Lexa get behind me.”

She says nothing she just does what I ask her. Even though I know I can’t use my powers I can’t just let them take her.

The one known as Sonic approaches me.

“Are you going to get out of the way?”

“I’m not going to let you take her.” I say with a fearless look on my face.

Sonic looks back at his leader and his leader sighs and gave a head knob to signal a good head command.

Sonic then looks at me and smiles and to my surprise he grabs me by the hand and quickly throws me to the left towards the window. The throw caught me off guard but I made sure not to fall to the ground. He surprised me but this time I have my powers ready he won’t move me so easily. He lifts his hands up and points them in my direction. I stare at his hands knowing something is going to come out of them. Maybe fire since the other guy shots out ice doesn’t matter Im ready. While watching his hands they look as if they are vibrating.

“Bring it on.” I say waiting for the worse.

“You got it.” Sonic says as he releases his powers out of his hands. It’s a sonic wave that is so powerful that on impact it sent me crashing throw the window falling 20 stores to the ground.

*******
“NOOOOOOO!” Lexa screams out as she watches me fly out of the window.

“See this is what I didn’t want to happen. If anyone else wants to be a hero you can join him. Now that you know we are serious Mr. Love show yourself I won’t ask again.”

A man walks from behind a crowd of people revealing his self to be Mr. Love.

“You don’t have to kill anyone else im right here.”

“No one would had to die if you revealed your self earlier you coward.” His daughter says with anger and sadness in her voice.

“Strong and correct words, I don’t like violence I try to avoid it at every cost but sometimes you have to show people that you are willing to do what it takes to get what you want.”

“What is it you want?”

“Yes lets get to the point but lets take this to your office. Sonic you’re with me and Coldfront you watch everyone down here. If they try anything freeze them to death. Mr. Love if you will lead the way please sir.”

The four of them then heads towards the elevator going to Mr. Loves office as Coldfront watches over the guest.

*******

“OH MY GOD IM GOING TO DIE!” I yell while falling 20 stores to my death. I can fell my heart trying to beat out of my chest. I can’t believe that my hero road is going to stop here. If only I could fly if only I could survive this fall. I see my refection on the pasting windows on my way down. “Not yet I don’t want to die I still have much to officer this city this world.” I then close my eyes and wait for death to come.

I feel my body hit something solid. I open just my left I thinking that maybe I was still falling but I realize that I came to a stop. I open the other and see that the force of my body had rip a near by car right in half. “I can’t believe this I’m okay Im still alive. YEAH!” I scream out in joy. I then remember back to when I got hit by the truck protecting Lexa. “I guess this proves it my other power is invulnerability. Thank God.” I then see the limo out of the corner of my eye. “That’s right those people up there need me.” I move the wreckage of the car off of my so that I can get up. Quickly I make it to the limo and enter from the right side grabbing my book bag that I left in the back. Just as fast as I enter from the right I had exit from the left but instead of wearing my tux I had of my costume standing outside of the limo as The Youngster. Wasting no time I run off in super speed heading back to save Lexa and the others.

Days after the Fundraiser

I have had one hell of a week. I was invited to a fundraiser that got held up and I almost died in the process. If it wasn’t for a team of gathered hero’s who happened to be chasing this criminals for sometime now. Heroes, some hero I am I couldn’t even save my friend from some guy who can scream really loud. If it wasn’t for that team that came in I would have died. That wouldn’t have been cool, not cool at all.

Those guys were pretty good to, they came in and cleared out the room and saved everyone within a matter of minutes. I did nothing but lay on the floor with my ears covered in blood. I woke up in some lair surrounded around heroes better yet superheroes. A group who gets together at times to stop powerful metahumans. They were so amazing, so amazing that I wanted to be a part of there team. Me part of this great group of heroes who seemed to be teenagers, like me.

But they wouldn’t have me. They said. “The world is in some serious danger and we don’t have time to baby-sit a rookie. There’s the door. See you another time The Kid.” The Kid, really? Is it that hard to confuse the Youngster with Kid? He did that on purpose I know he did. Still it doesn’t matter I’m still alone running around the world just looking for... wait what in the world is going on?

While running on top of the surface of water I look up in the sky and look on as thousand or millions of ships fall down from the sky. This astonishing sight caught my attention that I didn’t realize that I had stop running and was sliding on the water slowing down slowly sinking. While observing a big explosion went off not to far from me on shore. Without skipping a beat I quickly turn around and take of running in the direction.

Dylan contunues to watch the newsreports of the damage throughout the world from his own media company.

I would actually be moved to tears over all of this...if there wasn't the opportunties to be capitalized on.

He picks up his phone and calls Len Wiegman CEO of the Dylan Chambers Foundation for a better tomorrow.

Dylan says, "Len this is Mr. Chambers what's the foundation's status?"

Len replies, "We are getting in dozens of requests for assitance already and I can see that number doubling or tripling once this crisis is over sir."

Dylan says, "I agree for now devote as many resources as possible to city-wide applications we need to preserve what we can of our city. Then state-wide, National and then global. Get things moving a-s-a-p."

Len says, "Yes sir Mr. Chambers. We'll have everything in place within the next two hours."

Dylan hangs up and then calls Jamie Dixon at the media center.

He says, "Jamie this is Mr. Chambers. Bring the Newscenter helicopter to my building right away I think it's time that I got out of the ivory tower and help
asses the situation first hand."

He hangs up the phone and stares out at the buring city and begins to feel a smlie slowly cross his lips.

This city needs a hero I will give them one, and then reap the benefits.

MADLOVE

I ran alongside a few of my followers several blocks away from the Church. I hoped the rest of them returned to their homes as instructed. I was certain we were safe until a shadow quickly passed by overhead. I hear a grunt followed by a loud thud. I turn around to see the “Angel” standing atop of one of my followers while the rest form a circle around him, cautiously waiting for his next move. He’s a persistent creature, I’ll give him that.

“Kill him!” I scream.

Icon braces himself for another fight as the lead battle suit levels its weapons at him. Before Icon can do anything, they fire.

The concentrated blast from the battle suit's weapons; enough to vaporize a normal person, hit Icon with barely enough force to knock him back several steps. Surprised, the alien attacker increased the power to the weapons. However, Icon fights against the unrelenting assault...making his way toward the battle suit one step at a time.

The invader begins to get nervous as Icon approaches, increasing the power to the assault weapons until the reach a critical state, and begin to overheat. As the weapon fire ceases, and smoke begins to pour from the weapons, Icon looks right into the cockpit and smiles.

In an instant he is on the invader, assaulting the battle suit. First he rips the cannons from the suit, then begins pounding it with hard punches, caving in the armor at the site of the contact. Then suddenly Icon thrusts his hand into the suit's chest, he reaches around for a few seconds, and then yanks hard, pulling out the suit's power source.

The other battle suits begin their attack, but it is too late. Icon makes short work of them, rendering them just as useless as the previous two suits.

Then he takes to the skies, ready for his next encounter.

I was in on my way to the BBQ place to follow up on Rosas' lead when I'm suddenly interrupted...by the end of the world.

First the sudden destruction of the moon, then the subsequent destruction caused by falling debris...and now I watch as thousands, if not millions of alien space crafts enter the Earth's atmosphere.

I fire a grappling line from my wrist gauntlet and climb to the top of the old Anderson Mental Health Center. As I reach the top, I nearly lose my footing on some loose bricks that fall away from the building.

That would have been perfect...not being taken out by Midas and his men, or even whatever the hell is attacking us now...but slipping and falling off the roof. Yeah, that would have made my father proud.

I look out over the city and I see nothing but chaos...Fires burning all over the city, looting...screaming.

The Mustang will have to wait...Midas will have to wait. The people of this city need help, and I am going to give it to them.

"ooOoOhh..." groaned the Survivor as he got back to his feet. "-The hell just happened?" Looking at the area of scorched earth around him, he had absolutely no clue about what was going on. He could remember aliens attacking, a crazy guy running a church full of the stupids, and then...? He was drawing a blank. "That's... a little troubling."

"Oh...my....Gawd!"

Looking to the source of the voice, Adam saw a small group of people running up the street and carrying bags over their shoulders. No doubt they missed the cue to evacuated and were in hiding until the coast was clear. It looked like a husband, his wife, and one of their mothers.

"Do you people need help?" asked Adam. "I can't carry all of you away from here very safely, but I can find an evacuation team and let them know where... you... are?" The Survivor's words trailed off as the older woman stepped up to him and put her hands on his shoulders for some reason. "Uhhh..."

Staring wide-eyed at him, making sure that the superhero was in one piece, she whispered, "It's a miracle."

"What is?"

"The fact that you survived that!" exclaims the younger woman, who Adam noticed somewhat resembled the older one, likely being mother and daughter. "Everyone else is dead! Vaporized or something! We saw the whole thing. When that alien attacked before anything could be done to stop it, we all thought that this planet would be out one more superhero."

"Which is the last thing we need right now," chimes in the man who Adam assumed was the younger woman's husband.

"The aliens just attacked me?" Adam asked. "And blasted apart a bunch of people around me in the process?" The look of confusion on the family's faces were only overshadowed by the Survivor's own expression that was hidden underneath of his reformed mask. Why don't I remember that? Was it so bad that even my mind had to heal itself by erasing the memory of it?

"I...I need to go now." Taking a few steps away from the group, the Survivor readied himself to jump onto the top of what remained of a building several stories up. "Stay here. I'll let a crew know where you are and they'll come pick you up." And he was off.

Running back to shore I can’t believe my eyes. Explosions going off everywhere and people are running for their lives. I’m surrounded by nothing but destruction and carnage.

Not to far up a head a boy is on the ground stretching out his hand to his mother but his mother is stuck between the crowd of people who are trying to get away from all the chaos. She won’t be able to make it to him but I can.

I switch into another gear, since I have found out about my powers I never truly pushed myself so I don’t even no my top speed or what will happened if I push past my limits. Doesn’t matter today is a good day to find out.

Whiling heading toward the young boy I notice a battle suit falling directly above the kid. It fires two blast of energy straight down aiming for the little boy. At this moment I know I have to speed it up.

It seems that the blasts are just seconds away from contact and it doesn’t look like I’m going to make it, no I can’t think like that. Then with all my momentum already going forward I dive towards the boy and while soaring through the air I grab him in my arms right in the nick of time as the blasts strike the ground exploding with the force sending us both forward spinning out of control. While spinning uncontrollability I make sure to keep my eyes on the ground and right at the correct time I hit the ground running keeping the same pace. I run immediately to the young boy’s mother coming to a sliding stop right in front of her handing her son to her.

“Hurry and make it to safety.” I ordered her. But she did nothing but look pass me with her eyes open wide. This can’t be good so I turn around and see a tank truck better known as a semi-trailer designed to carry gas coming our way. I swiftly run forward to catch it before it has a chance to get close to the woman and her child. The force behind the semi was more than I anticipated as I caught I was automatically being push back with me feet trailing through the concrete ground. With everything I had I stop it inches before hitting them.

“I got this, you need to hurry up and get…”

BOOM!!!

Before I could finish my sentence I was interrupted by the semi getting blown up right in front of me. The fire from the explosion covered everything from a 30 feet radius. Truly no normal human would be able to survive this lucky for this woman and he son I'm far pass normal. Not even seconds as the tank blow up I grabbed the two of them and covered them with my body from the blast. They are bused and stretched up but they’ll live and that’s what matters.

With them in my arms I run them a good distance away and place them out of harms way.

“You should be safe now. I’ll go back that way and hold them off.” I tell her while facing the direction we just left. Last thing I want is to have another surprise.

“Oh my God your back, its covered in blood.”

“Don’t worry I’ll be okay, you just get to safety.” I say as I run off.

Well this proves it, I guess it seems that I can only use two of my powers at the same time. We all were lucky that my body switch from super speed and strength to speed and invulnerability in the nick of time. If it didn’t we would have been done for i guess my back being covered in blood is way better than the
alternative.

Only if my mom could see me now I bet she would have been proud. Wait, if this is happening here then…

“Mom!” I say out loud in a panic as I take off heading home running faster than I have ever ran in my life. As I’m running I can feel the ground beneath my feet crumbling. I was running so fast I didn’t realize that I made it home within seconds but there’s a problem. Where is my home? All I see around me is debris that looks like it came from a house. Not just any house my house.

“MOM!” I scream as I go to the wreckage and throw pieces of the house every where hoping not to find anything. Maybe she got away, I hope she got away. As I’m tossing parts of the roof as if it was nothing my heart stops as a see a hand covered in blood. Not just any hand but my mother’s hand. I take my time lying to myself hoping as I take of the last piece of remains covering her body that it won't be her. But it was for nothing, she laid there motionless not breathing. I grab her in my arms as tears begin to run down my face.

“You can’t be dead not like this. This can’t be happening…” I know she is going to open her eyes and tell me that everything is going to be okay. I know she is. Why isn’t she opening her eyes?

…I should have been here to save you. I should have stopped them from hurting you. They are going to pay, all of them will pay for this.” Unknown to me while grieving my mother’s death my body is all of a sudden covered in white color energy. That seems to be building by the second.

“Why did this have to happen? Why DID YOU HAVE TO DIE!!” I shouted with a unexpected explosion to fallow.

Something was different. The area around me was completely cleared as if a bomb had gone off but that wasn’t what was different. Something had change with me. I felt weird, I felt stronger. Not only that I was in the air floating with my mother in my arms. Just by looking down at my body I could tell something has changed, by the appearance it looks like I had grown. This wasn't the first time this has happened I guess the death ofmy mom must have triggered this power within me.

I slowly land down on the ground and place my mother down. Even though she has died I feel like she had brought this power out of me to help mankind through this chaos. That’s exactly what I’ll do with this new power. Not as the Youngster but as Samson The Mighty.

It only took me a few moments to reach The Hub from where I encountered the battle suits. Just as I normally do, I land on the roof and make my way down into the apartment, and this is when I hear the music coming from the club downstairs.

I quickly change into my cilvilian clothes, something that I haven't done since this whole crisis started, and made my way downstairs. I was surprised to find that the club was full of people, they were all dancing and having a good time, almost as if the crisis that is going on outside these walls wouldn't effect them if they just went about their normal routine.

But I can see the fear on their faces as they try to pretend that everything is normal. I head over toward the DJ booth where Eric is providing the music to the almost enthused crowd. He isn't alone, Keira is there with him, and Bob and Mark, two of my good friends that I haven't seen on months are there as well. They're doing the same thing, trying to pretend that the Earth isn't suffering from an invasion.

Eric sees me and motions for me to come over to the booth.

"Hey Scott, is it really as bad as it seems out there?"

"No, it's worse."

"Oh man..."

"Yeah. Eric, what's going on? This place should be locked up and you should be somewhere safer."

"We were closed. I was here just checking on things, making sure we hadn't gotten broken into, that's when Keira and the guys came by. Then more people came by, and more, and before we know it the place was packed." He paused for a moment, then added. "Should we send them home?"

I look around for a moment at the group of revelers as they continue to try to have a good time.

"No. It's too dangerous. Let them stay...let them have a good time, who knows what's going to happen with the invasion...so let them have tonight."

Eric nods in agreement.

"But do me a favor...turn the music down, there's no need to advertise that you're here. And lock the doors, don't let anyone leave, it's too dangerous for anyone to be on the streets. I'll come back when it's all clear."

Eric indicates that he understands my instructions, and I head back up to the apartment where I change back into my costume and take to the skies once again.

"MADLOVE!!"

I don't know what over comes me. Never before have I felt such anger and hate. I don't even recall doing it, but flames start to close the pathway leaving only one way out: through me.

They come at me, like vicious creatures of the night, let off the leash by their master. They're just kids, dangit. All the while, Madlove starts letting off energy blasts, and I think I start to spend most of my time making sure the kids don't get hurt more than I do. Which is probably what the maniac wants as I take several of his blows from the distance.

Jake...even Jake comes at me.

"Stop it! Dangit! STOP!!!"

I take the water from the puddles of the alley, and create a band of water tentacles, each keeping the attackers at bay. I stop and look at Jake, starstruck by the look on his face as he struggles. He wants to kill me.

My Go--goodness...he wants to kill me. All for Madlove.

Kensei layed above the covers of his hotel room on his back. His hands behind his head, the Swordsman thought of the events of yesterday at the bank, and did his best to put the frustration of losing Leevoth's trail behind him.

It had been difficult for Kensei as his meditations to divine answers from the gods have seemingly fallen on deaf ears.
Now, with his gut telling him that Leevoth is long gone from the city, Kensei pondered his next move.

As if in answer, the phone to his room rang.
The samurai sat up from the bed and answered.

"Hello?"

<"Kensei, it is good to hear from you my friend.">

<"Hideyoshi, it is good to hear your voice. How goes things at home?">

<"As boring as it ever is when you are off on some quest. But your house is well tended to, and Ami has been feeding Kaji for you.">

<"The little devil has been staying out of trouble I hope?">

<"Do not worry, my friend. He has been confined to the property">, replied Hideyoshi with a chuckle.

<"How is Ami?">

<"She is fine, Kensei. Though she doesn't say it, she misses you. We all do. We're waiting for you to finish your quest and come home.">

<"It may be a while before my mission is over">, sighed the Swordsman.
<"The trail for Leevoth has gone cold. I am at a loss from where to begin again. And all my attempts to contact the gods have failed. With each passing day, my frustrations grow. I fear they will soon consume me.">

<"Do not worry Kensei">, Hideyoshi replied in a calming tone, <"Izanagi I'm sure has a plan. He always does.">

<"Yes, I know. But it still does not make it any less frustrating.">

<"Well, I might have something for you to take away some of that aggrevation you're feeling.">

<"And that would be?">

<"A call came for you this morning from your old friend, Whiskey Jack.">

<"Jack">, Kensei spoke as his mind began to flood with memories that seemed so long ago.

<"Yes, apparently there is a great emergency on the reservation. An emergency that requires your special services.">

<"Did he say what this emergency is?">

<"He would not speak of it to me, but I sense a great fear in his voice.">

That did trouble Kensei. The old Navajo medicine man was one of the bravest people the Swordsman had ever met. If he was frightened, then it must be a serious threat.

<"Very well">, replied Kensei, <"I will travel to New Mexico and do what I can for Jack.">

"Thank you, Hideyoshi.">

<"It's nothing, Kensei. Just doing what the Primordial Sky has commanded me to do.">

<"Still, thank you. Hopefully I will be able to finish my hunt and return home soon. Until then, take care my friend. And tell Ami...tell her that I...will see her soon.">

<"I will make sure to tell her you miss her, my friend. Take care, Kensei. And be careful.">

Hideyoshi hung up the phone, and Kensei followed suit. The Celestial Samurai sat there deep in thought over what Hideyoshi had said. If Jack or his people were in danger, danger enough to frighten even him, Kensei could not say no.

Especially after the ordeal he and Jack faced many years ago...

Skin Deep ~ Prologue

Skin Deep ~ Act 1

The plane rattled as it sped down the runway and slowly rose into the sky.
Kensei looked out the window at the city of Chicago below him as the plane gradually rose higher and higher.

The Swordsman yawned and closed the covering on the window, blocking out the morning sun. He had taken the first flight he could to New Mexico, and it wouldn't be long until he arrived.
Until then, he would catch up on some much needed sleep.

Memories of the last time he saw his friend, Whiskey Jack, danced through his mind as his eyes slowly closed...

--------------------

The mid-day sky was as black as night as the massive storm clouds covered the sun completely. The howling winds picked up, slamming into Kensei and the young Navajo warrior standing atop the mountain.

"Be ready, Kensei", spoke the dark-haired brave with the long, tight braids dancing wildly in the wind. The large drops of rain and small bits of hail came rushing in from the West at a sharp angle, pelting both Kensei and the Navajo warrior carrying a wooden staff adorned with ritual carvings.

Lightning danced across the sky, and a loud crack of thunder echoed across the mountaintop. But it was the spine-chilling, high-pitched screech accompanying the thunder that steeled the two warriors.

Suddenly, an enormous raptor flew up the cliff face to stare down at the two foolish humans below it.
The bird of prey was massive, almost the size of a city bus. And with each beat of it's wings came the gale-force winds of a hurricane.

Kensei and the brave held on to whatever they could to keep from being blown off of the mountain.
The Swordsman gripped the Kusanagi tightly, and summoned the innate power of the legendary sword to control the winds.
Almost immediately the winds died down and the pair of warriors were able to stand freely once more.

The Navajo medicine man looked sharply at the creature, noticing it's left eye was missing.

"This is the one", shouted the brave.

"Are you sure", asked Kensei sarcastically.

"Positive", replied the Navajo warrior with a smirk as both he and Kensei dove out of the way to avoid the razor-sharp talons as the behemoth dived at them.

Weeks earlier, a group of brash teenagers climbed up the forbidden mountain, tales of the warriors of old dancing in their minds from the night before.
The children brought with them traditional bows of their people, and climbed the mountain seeking adventure.

But the mountain was forbidden for a good reason. On it's high, craggy top resided the legendary thunderbirds. Creatures of supernatural power, able to conjure mighty storms with a beat of their massive wings.

The children ran in to one of the creatures, and, in their panic, fired a single arrow at the thunderbird. The arrow struck the creature in the eye, causing the powerful creature to take vengeance on the tribe.
For the past couple of weeks, the enraged thunderbird has been terrorizing the local area, slaughtering livestock, pets, and even humans.

The creature, although it was wronged first, had to be stopped. And so Kensei arrived to help and met with the local medicine man called Whiskey Jack.
Together they fended off an attack on a old woman by the creature, and Jack then led Kensei up the forbidden mountain to finish the thunderbird off once and for all.

Lightning crashed into the mountain, nearly hitting Jack. Kensei recalled how earlier Jack mentioned that the creatures could summon lightning from the storm with but a blink of it's eyes.

The thunderbird screeched as it dove towards Kensei.
The Swordsman stood his ground, and, at the last second, leapt at the creature.
The Kusanagi dug deep into the thunderbird's belly, spattering the mountaintop with it's hot blood.

Kensei rolled as he fell, but the legendary beast was able to dig it's talons deep into Kensei's back and side on the samurai's decent.

The wounded animal deftly turned towards the injured samurai.
Kensei clutched at his side where one of the massive talons had torn his flesh. His healing factor would seal up the gashes in moments, but until then he had to somehow fend off an angry thunderbird.

As Kensei raises his blade to try and fend off the biting beak of the beast, Whiskey Jack charges in from the side. The medicine man tosses a fine powder in the thunderbird's lone eye, and the creature screeches loudly in protest as it begins to thrash about.

"Now", screams Jack over the din of the storm.
"While it blind! Finish it off!"

His wounds nearly healed, Kensei rises to his feet and stabs the Kusanagi deep into the thunderbird's neck.
The mystical blade stays buried in the creature's flesh as the thunderbird tosses back and forth. The death throws of the creature are fierce, and Kensei is soon tossed away like a rag doll. But the Kusanagi remains embedded in the thunderbird's neck as blood continues to pour freely from the wound.

With a final screech of protest, the thunderbird falls to the ground, shaking the mountaintop with the impact.

As the creature dies, the winds slowly die with it. Kensei slowly rises to his feet as the storm that was raging above him quickly dissipates, revealing a bright blue sky behind it.

Walking over to the creature, Kensei removes the Kusanagi and wipes the blood clean on the thunderbird's feathers.

"It's shame", frowns Jack as he moves to stand next to Kensei.
"Such a magnificent beast. Those kids aught to be ashamed for what they brought about."

"These creatures are not normally a threat?"

"No", answered Jack as he looked to Kensei as the samurai sheathed his blade.
"They keep to themselves and leave us be. But, if wronged, the wrath of a thunderbird is a terrible thing."

Kensei could feel Jack's sadness of what they had done, and the Swordsman placed his hand on Jack's shoulder.
"I am sorry, my friend."

"It's all right", Jack sighed.
"There was nothing else that could've been done."

"Come on. Let's get back to the village. I could use a drink."

And Whiskey Jack and Kensei slowly made their way down the mountainside as the afternoon sun beat down on their tired backs.

Skin Deep ~ Act 2

Kensei walked out of the airport, the hot desert wind blowing in his face as the sun crept slowly across the barren sky.

The flight had gone without any problems, and Kensei arrived at Grants Municipal Airport right on time. And, as expected, his friend, Whiskey Jack, was outside to greet him.

"I hope your flight was good", asked Jack with a smile.

He was much older than Kensei remembered him. The years had not been kind to Jack, years spend practicing his magicks and drinking. He was now an old man, not the young warrior who battled alongside Kensei decades ago.

"It was fine", Kensei replied, returning Jack's smile and accepting his handshake.
The pair embraced in a hug.

"It's good to see you, my friend."

"It's good to see you too, Jack", replied Kensei as he reached down to pick up his lone bag.
"So...what's the problem?"

Jack's face turned solemn as he sighed deeply.
"Come on. I'll tell you on the way into town."

Jack grabbed Kensei's bag and placed it in the back of his Jeep. The two warriors then climbed aboard the vehicle and quickly sped away, heading towards the reservation.

"Over the past two weeks, there have been some break-ins."

"And this isn't something that can be solved by the police?"

"No", answered Jack as he turned down a two-lane highway.
"These were not robberies. Whoever, or whatever, is behind this has been kidnapping infants."

"I see", Kensei replied, his tone showing the grave sorrow he felt in his soul.
"Are there any leads as to who is behind this?"

"The culprit's a slick one. Doesn't leave anything that can be used to track it down. But, last night, a young woman named Aiyana came to me in tears."

"She tells me that, as she went to check on her child, she was horrified to see a large wolf-like creature trying to get in through the kid's bedroom window. She was able to drive the thing away, but not before it tore a gash into her back with it's claws."

Kensei's brow furrowed as his mind processed the described events.
"I'll need to speak with Aiyana before I can identify what it is we're dealing with."

"Don't worry, my friend. I know what the thing is", he said as they turned down a side street towards a rural neighborhood.
"Like it or not, we're dealing with a Skinwalker."

"A skinwalker", repeated the Swordsman.
Kensei was a master in combat, and also in demonology and the supernatural. Although he had never dealt with the creatures before, Kensei knew what a Skinwalker was.
The creatures were powerful witches, able to take on the form of any animal it desired. The things were pure evil, and virtually impossible to kill.

"Yep, and I damn sure don't like it", grumbled Jack as he slowed down, pulling up to a small house.
"Here's Aiyana's place. I told her we'd be over straight from the airport, so she's expecting us."

"You told her we were be coming before I even arrived?"

"Figured you'd want to talk with her and check out the scene", shrugged Whiskey Jack with a smirk.

"You know me too well, my friend", chuckled Kensei as they exited the Jeep and walked up to Aiyana's front door.

Skin Deep ~ Act 3

Aiyana was still visibly shaken from her ordeal with the skinwalker just a day ago. She tried her best to remain calm while she spoke with Jack and his friend, Kensei, but the samurai could clearly see the storm raging beneath the surface.

The beautiful Navajo girl took a deep breath as she remembered the horrors of the night before.

"I had just finished getting ready for bed", she recalled, her eyes closed.

"I put Derrick to bed earlier, and I went to check up on him before I went to sleep. As I neared the door, I could hear...something coming from the room."

Aiyana shifted uneasily on the couch.

"I felt a feeling of terror come over me, but I couldn't place it. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up, and I turned the handle and opened the door to Derrick's room."

"That was when I saw it"
, she recollected, her hands trembling ever-so slightly.
"It was large, and covered in thick, black hair. It was almost wolf-like in appearance, and it was halfway into Derrick's room from the window."

"When I opened the door"
, she continued as she looked directly at Kensei, "it looked right at me...with those horrible eyes. It was like two red-hot coals."

"I grabbed the nearest thing I could, which was a table lamp, and attacked it. The thing just stood there, half-way in window, as I beat on it as hard as I could. And it did absolutely nothing."

"It was like it was more amused than anything at first. Finally the thing lashed out at me."

Aiyana turned around and carefully lifted up the back of her shirt to show them the bloody claw marks etched into her back.

"It raked me with it's claws before disappearing back off into the night."

"I see", replied Kensei as he examined the wound.

"I don't know what to do", Aiyana said as she covered the wound once more and turned to face the samurai, on the verge of tears.
"I fear it is only a matter of time before the creature returns to take Derrick and finish me off."

Kensei rose to his feet and looked down at the shaken Aiyana.

"I will not allow any harm to come to you, or your child. I give you my word."

It was like a small burden had been lifted from her shoulders. She had only just met the man, but there was something about him, his voice, his stance...she knew that she could trust him.

For the first time in what seemed like a long time, Aiyana smiled.

"Thank you."

--------------------

The buzzing of the cicadas could be heard all through the dark house.
Aiyana and her child had departed earlier that day with Jack, leaving Kensei to stake out the house alone.
The Swordsman waited in the baby's room as the dummy infant they placed in the crib "slept" soundly.

Kensei leaned up against the wall in the room's darkest corner, the dreaded Kusanagi carefully resting against his shoulder, as he ate a small ball of rice.

The sudden silence of the cicadas put Kensei immediately on his guard. He put the rice ball back in a pocket and silently rose to a crouching position.

His innate ability to sense the presence of evil was practically screaming at him that something most foul was outside the bedroom window, lurking in the black night.

And then he saw the large, bestial hand reach up and slowly push the window open.
The two, burning red eyes was the first thing Kensei truly saw of the beast. And a beast it was, covered in fur and looking like some bizarre werewolf.

The skinwalker, as silent as death, entered the room on all fours like an animal and slowly crept towards the crib.
Thanks to his magical trinket, the witch did not notice Kensei in the shadows as it approached crib.

The beast carefully reached down and then lunged it's clawed hand towards the sleeping infant.

The skinwalker snarled in rage as it picked up the small doll used as the decoy.

"You'll find no babies tonight, monster."

The skinwalker turned on it's heels towards the shadows to see Kensei, his armor shining with a divine light, with the Kusanagi gripped tightly in his hand.

"I am Kensei", stated the Swordsman, his face a mask of cold focus.
"I am the Demon's Bane, the Hunter of the Gods, Chosen Champion of Izanagi."

The eyes of the Celestial Samurai narrowed as he shifted his feet, ready to spring into action.

"And I am here to end your vile existence."

Skin Deep ~ Act 4

With a battle cry to shake the heavens, Kensei charged at his bestial opponent.

The Kusanagi slashed left and right, but the mystical monster proved to have supernatural agility as it deftly avoided the strikes.

The skinwalker ducks under a sword strike by Kensei, and rises up with it's claws. The claws rake the face of the Swordsman, tearing a deep gash across the left side of his head.

Kensei does not cry out in pain, though he does grimace as he smashes the pommel of his blade into the wolf-creature's nose.

The beast howls and Kensei kicks it hard in the stomach, sending the skinwalker crashing through the window and out into the lawn.

With amazing grace, the Celestial Samurai somersaults out the shattered window after the creature.

Landing on his feet, Kensei stares down the surprised skinwalker as the beast looks back at him with utter contempt.

"You are not mortal"
, the creature growls.

"No, I am not", Kensei replies flatly as he rushes the creature.

"I am your death, and the death of all your kind", the Swordsman states as the Kusanagi digs deep in the skinwalker's ribcage.

The monster lets loose a terrifying howl of pain that sends shivers up the spines of all within earshot.

Dogs begin to howl in alarm all over the neighborhood as the skinwalker stabs it's claws into Kensei's sides and flips the samurai up over his head and across the lawn.

Kensei rolls with the impact and is up in seconds awaiting the creature's attack.
But the attack doesn't come.

Instead, the skinwalker stands there and smiles a grotesque grin at Izanagi's Chosen.

The monster transforms into a large black crow and takes off into the desert night.

Kensei runs after the wounded beast, following it across neighbor's yards and out into the desert.
But the creature possesses a supernatural speed to it, and even the inhuman Kensei is hard pressed to keep up.

But the wounded skinwalker has left a trail of blood which the skilled Swordsman carefully follows into the cold night.

"Damnation", Kensei exclaims with a scowl as he scans the brush for any kind of sign.

The trail of blood has disappeared. The creature seemingly vanishing into thin air.

Taking a deep breath to cool his anger and frustration, Kensei turns and begins the trek back into town to check on Jack and Aiyana.

Skin Deep ~ Act 5

"So the damn thing just disappeared on you", asked Jack as he turned the wheel sharply to avoid a downed branch in the road.

It was morning and Jack was heading into town to buy supplies when Kensei had walked up out of the desert. After invoking a minor magic charm to disguise his armor and weaponry for regular street clothes, Kensei hopped in Jack's dirty jeep for the ride.

"Yes. The skinwalker was quick. It took all I had to keep pace, but the monster was on wing. I was unable to keep it in sight."

The jeep slowed down as it pulled into a parking place in front of the general store.

"It was wounded though. It left a trail of blood that I followed for another mile before it too vanished. Frustrated, I turned and made the long walk back to your home."

A bell rang to signify their entrance, and Kensei followed Jack about the store as the old medicine man gathered up his groceries for the week.
Jack was going on about a way to kill the beast when something slammed into Kensei's psyche like a ton of bricks.
The overwhelming sense of evil. Thick, almost like a fog...and coming from the man who just walked in the door.
He was an older Navajo dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt. His hair was back and braided, adorned with a pair of crow feathers.

The man took one look at Kensei and froze.

Both men don't move a muscle, not even the slightest twitch, as their focus remains transfixed on each other.

Then the man calmly turns and walks out the store, never taking his eyes off of Kensei.

The door doesn't even shut yet as the Swordsman bolts out after the skinwalker.
But the Swordsman feels nothing but frustration as once again the man has vanished.

"I am beginning to get annoyed", Kensei scowled as he scanned the area, looking for some sign.

"What was that all about", asked Jack as he walked up to Kensei holding a grocery bag.

"That man who came in, do you know him?"

"Sure, that's Kajima. An old tracker. Has a shack on the outskirts of town, right along the desert."

"That was him, Jack", Kensei exclaims, "the skinwalker!"

Jack pauses as he looks at his old friend and the fire in his eyes.

"Get in", Jack tells Kensei as he puts the bag in the back and starts up the jeep. Kensei hops into the vehicle's passenger seat, his hand resting gently on the Kusanagi, as Jack floored it.

Fish tailing around corners and bouncing over speed bumps, Jack drove like a maniac as he raced through the streets.

"Kajima lives just a few more miles up this dirt road"
, Jack shouted as they turned off the main highways.

"Stop."

"What?"

"Stop the jeep, Jack."

The vehicle came to a screeching halt as Jack never took his eyes off of Kensei.

"What is it?"

"Go back into town and protect Aiyana. I will handle this", the Swordsman stated as he slowly exited the jeep.

Jack started to protest, but one look from Kensei made him realize the futility of that path.

"All right", Jack grudgingly agreed.
"But here, you'll need this", the medicine man tossed Kensei a small animal skin pouch.

"What is it", the Celestial Samurai asked as he inspected the bag in his hand.

"White ash", Jack stated.
"Put it on your blade before you fight him. It will keep Kajima's wounds from healing and let you kill him."

"Thank you, my friend", Kensei gave a short bow in respect.
Without another word, the Demon's Bane turned and sprinted off down the dirt road. As he ran, Kensei dropped his magical cloak. Revealing his battle worn samurai armor and the dreaded Kusanagi firmly on his hip.

"Good luck."

I throw a severed battle suit arm down on the ground next to a pill of scrap. I look a head and see a vehicle determine to out run a couple of aliens in their battle suits. Without any time to lose take off and reach them in seconds. I stop just above the car as they pass me by, the aliens in pursuit come to a stop.

“This is as far you all will.” I tell them right before I took off straight for the one in the center. At face to face distant I use my hand and bring it straight up and take down into the battle suit cutting it in half just from the front. Then I rip the half’s apart from each other revealing the alien inside.

“You can get out right here.”

I flip the suit upside down forcing the alien to fall to the ground. With the battle suit in hand I use it as a baseball bat and swing at suit to my left damaging both suit in the process. The alien behind me was powering up his cannon thinking he was going to fire at my at my blind side but what he didn’t know is that with my super hearing I can hear the weapon being charged. Once he fired I quickly turn around and back hand the blast back in his direction. The blast hit and explodes the suit on impact.

“I really hope this is not all you brought to try and take over this planet. Because if it I advise you to leave now. If you can’t defeat me how do you think you are going to defeat other Earth’s heroes?”

One of the aliens must have had an intercom on in his suit because moment after that was said five more battle suits arrive in front of me.

“This doesn’t matter I have been destro… destroying all of… yo…you all day.” I struggled to get that sentence out. My body is beginning to feel funny.

As I’m trying to figure out what is happening I realize that I start to float back down to the ground. I’m losing my ability to fly. While my power’s are acting up the aliens all power up their cannon weapons.

Doesn’t matter if they do I have been taking these shots all day I can take a couple more, I don’t need flying for this.

“Got head and give me your best shot.” I shout and they took no time to answer. All five released their blasts at the same time. Once it hit my body there was a huge explosion that sent out a shock wave in a 2 miles radius. After the blast had hit me my body went soaring through multiple buildings and didn’t come to a stop till my body had cave in the side of a half destroyed tank.

“Guess they gave me there best shot.” Wait something different with my voice, it’s back to normal.

I look down at my hands and the rest of my body and realize that I’m back to being my self. I must have pushed pass my limit. It’s understandable I have been fighting these guys none stop. Doesn’t matter though, I have to continue to fight.

As I try to get up I recognize it’s harder then it should be. Most of the tank had crumbled around my body when I hit it and trying to push it off of me is a harder task than it should be. I focus my attention on one side and try to push that away but it just barely budges. My powers must be coming back but at a slow rate.

“Looks like I’m just going to have to wait here and sit..” Before I finish speaking to myself the aliens that blasted me here all caught up and landed a couple of feet in front of me ready to fire off another one. And with my powers being how they are this will defiantly kill me.

“Doesn’t look like I’ll be waiting for to long." I say under my breath.

"If you are looking for that big muscle bound guy he went that way.” I say as I point to the left. With me as my normal appearance and my Youngster costume torn all up I look just like another citizen maybe they will just leave me be.

Instead they continued to power up and aim right at me.

“Well that plan did work."

Nope it didn’t work at all and my powers have yet to return. I guess this only means one thing. I’m about to die.

The Newscopter begins making a run over the city as Dylan begins making notes into a PDA.

Which state the following:

--Downtown real-easte values will drop dramatically...call Henry and being negotiations of buying real-estate.

--Lower East-Side: Lost cause...bulldoze!

--Upper West side:...holding strong...keep an eye on.

His cell-phone rings and he answers it.

He says, "Chambers."

The voice on the other end says, "Mr. Chambers this is Jamie Dixon at Master control ops we were wondering if we could put you on the air and gives us your perspective from where you are."

Dylan replies, "Of course Jamie let me know when you ready."

She says, "We'll be coming to you in about 5 minutes. Just tell us what you are seeing. You provide us with the words we'll do the pictures."

Dylan says, "Yes of course."

Jamie says, "Stand by we're patching you through to the news room in two minutes. Eric Harris our lead anchor will be the next person you talk to."

He then hears a click followed by Eric Harris, "Saying our CEO and President of Mindpower Media Dylan Chambers is our news-copter Mr. Chambers what are you seeing?"

Dylan replies, "Eric I see a city in great pain. Buildings are burning and property damages approaching billions of dollars in damage. I see people trying to do everything they can to make a difference but not being as effective as we all wish they could be, but I believe that in times like these character is revealed and the city will come back for this. The opportunities in situations like these are not always clear but they soon will be."

As Icon flies back into the thick of the battle, he notices several of the alien battle suits surrounding a civilian, ready to open fire.

They're going to kill that kid. He thinks to himself as he changes course and heads straight for the injured civilian.

Icon lands between the battle suits and the kid just as they open fire, absorbing the blaster bolts with his chest.

"Stay behind me, I'll draw their fire. When you can get to safety." Icon says as he goes to work on the aliens.
