The Curse of Chucky

Chucky just looks more realistic in the face, like the transition from doll to human is complete & he can shift easier between the 2 forms.

No explanation can excuse that thing to me. If that's just one frame in the movie, I can get over it - but if Chucky looks like that the whole way through... jesus christ they didn't need to change it. The old way worked and it probably cost a lot less money.

So...they gave Chucky a CGI face and people hate it...in other news, the sky is blue! :)

CGI..... :argh:

But at least the actual Chucky doll looks solid

This screen cap /Film has made me got "WTF?" before watching the trailer

It was always apparent that if they did another Chucky film they would eventually use some cgi for him to talk, as much as we all love animatronics no one really uses them all that much these days.

I've never ever thought these movies were scary. They've always been hilarious to me even as a kid and this seems to be fitting right on in with the other ones.

Wow serious? The original scared the living crap out of me. I remember it was my dumbass decision to have us all watch it at my friend's sleepover bday party when I was 10. After we went to sleep, I woke up later in the night because I had to go to the bathroom. I looked towards the hall where the bathroom was, saw his sister's bedroom, and there was a Cricket doll right in the front of it. I laid there in my sleeping bag the rest of the night holding in more piss than you can imagine. LOL

At any rate, I think this trailer looks good for direct-to-DVD. I think that one shot of his face everyone is making a stink about is a bit awkward, but he looked good to me during the rest of the trailer. Man I'm kind've bummed it's not going to be in theaters.

that face makes him look even creepier

Ya, I thought he looked creepier than he has in a while.

It's... CGI? No, just stop it, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Alright, after seeing the trailer it doesn't look too bad. But the CGI just rubs me the wrong way.

*EDIT*

At the 1:00 minute mark, is that CGI? If they are just doing the CGI when he essentially becomes human than that will be alright.

To be honest I do see some practical effects with a doll there in parts.

Seeing him in action it isn't so bad but it does get close to uncanny valley territory which should be a good thing but somehow that screen cap just makes Chucky funny looking.

Well... I guess there's still time for that new design to grow on me, but, yeah... sweet butter-baked Christ that is horrid.

I don't care if everybody and their brother is using CG for things that don't need to be CG, that's really no excuse for these guys to go that route with Chucky, too. It's not like he looks "dated" in Bride or Seed. Hell, just the fact that no one else is really doing it is all the more reason to.

G*ddamnit studios have gotten lazy...

i've always found the Chucky films hilarious

a little kids doll that cusses and kills, LOL

I don't even care for these, and honestly, this doesn't look that bad to me. Not great by any stretch but better than a lot of the stuff coming out.

Edit: Better than a lot of the horror related stuff coming out anyway.

There's obviously more to this film than what they're showing in the trailer. One of the writers of BloodyDisgusting saw it and said it was really good. And the connection to the first Child's Play film will blow your mind.

And yes, they did use an animatronic puppet. There's behind the scenes photos of it. That pic of Chucky's face looking all CGI looks that way because of the "lighting flash" effect they used in the trailer (they use this about 2-3 times in the trailer).

Other than that, Chucky looks great I think. Different sure, but when he's laughing or sneering, my God he looks so much like Brad Douriff (which I'm sure was the intent). And it looks like he's turning human again (receeding hairline, aging face, etc...) just like in the first movie.

I can't wait!

i got a feeling that the little girl in this movie might be Andy's daughter, which is why Chucky showed up in front of her doorstep

Seriously, I got the creeps watching that trailer. But only because the first movie tormented me when I was a little kid lol.

Chucky always scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

I would watch Care Bears and cartoons for 3 days straight just to detox and get the scares out of my system........:o

Curse of Chucky will have its World Premier at Montreal's Fantasia Film Festival which begins July 18. It'll also play at London's FrightFest on August 22nd.

So happy it's playing at these festivals! I hope word of mouth is good for this one. I have a feeling we're in for a wicked little flick.

Man, if it's playing at film festivals then they must have some confidence in it. Maybe it will get a small theatrical release.

So it's not CGI, it's just the weird lighting? It makes sense since that screen grab is honestly the only CGI looking thing from that trailer.

Haha. I've never been very fond of dolls since then, or clowns for that matter.
Thanks a lot evil childhood :cmad:

I love the first ChildsPlay and find the second one to be fun but the rest of the series can go to hell. I hate, hate, hate Chucky's face in the trailer. I'm not against CGI at all I just hate his face and feel that CGI doesn't work 90% of the time in horror films. I'm not really against CGI in a Chucky movie I just hate the way this CGI looks. That being said, at least it looks like a horror movie again.

I'll watch it because it looks like a horror movie and not another pathetic Chucky horror comedy like the last 3 films and because I'm a ****e for Chucky. :o

so has it been confirmed is this a sequel, prequel, reboot or takes place between the other films
