The CW Appreciation Thread

I watched Supernatural backwards starting from Season 3. I think it got a bit interesting on the third season but the rest were downhill. Then again, most of my female friends treat the show like a godsend. So I suppose it has its place. For some reason they couldn't really embrace fantasy the way I want in a show, even with Buffy. That HBO-planned American Gods series would've had me for a life-long fan but aw well. There's always Gaiman's book :)

Is Jeph Loeb still involved with CW like he was during Smallville?

Jeph Loeb's moved up in the world: he's now the head of Marvel Television. Which means he will be credited as an Executive Producer of SHIELD, though I doubt he'll have much (if any) creative involvement.

I think Nikita is an excellent show, Hart of Dixie is feel good fun and I'm looking forward to Arrow.....HOWEVER!.......and I know I'm 5 years late on this, but over the last week I marathoned the 3 seasons of Veronica Mars and found out this is the network that canned it, consider a chunk of my goodwill lost!

Better late than never! GREAT show (the first 2 seasons, anyway).

 Season 1 is about as perfect as a show can get, I liked season 2 a lot but I agree with Rob Thomas that it got a bit red herring heavy at points. Season 3 was great for the first 9 episodes IMO, the mistake was deviating from the longer mystery arcs.

I also felt breaking Logan and Veronica up and adding in two boyfriends for Mac instead of using Piz cluttered the season with pointless romantic arcs. The show was never about a Will they/won't they dynamic with Logan and Veronica, their relationship was sort of a surprise the way it worked which is illustrated in the way dull Duncan was written out midway through season 2, so just letting it be would have made more sense and just focus on the plots.

I have to say though even at it's weakest the show was still better than a vast majority and a lot of that was down to Kristen Bell. How an actress that has such a magnetic screen presence is not a bigger star is beyond me.

Hey wow I didn't know that he was involved in that capacity! Good on him! Glad to see him working and not giving into retirement after the tragedy with Sam.

Yep, and apparently both of those "developments" were edicts from their new home network. The CW basically said, "we'll bring you over to our new network despite your low ratings...if you make a few changes to become more friendly to our target demo." They thought the shorter mysteries = more accessible, and you know the teen girls love their romance drama.

And I totally agree with your takes on S1 and S2. S2 had a lot of greatness throughout, but was still far more flawed than that incredible 1st season. You can really tell that Rob Thomas had been working on S1 as a novel for a long time before it became a TV show, because it was so perfectly planned out.

And now you understand why she has such a devoted fanbase online - it's not all those s****y rom-coms she's been doing, lol. But yeah, I agree, she's awesome, and deserving of a FAR better career than she has.

Plus, she loves sloths (to a possibly unhealthy degree)!

:awesome:

Kristen Bell needs to get away from those god awful romcom's she has been doing.I
haven't payed a whole lot of attention to her since she was killed off on Heroes. Her talents
which were used to great effect on VM are being wasted In these god awful romcom.

Supernatural is the only one I watch religiously. At this point I'd watch a season of them just driving around and Dean making pop culture references.

Well youdo know that she does have a new show now right? House of Lies on showtime or hbo.

Well I don't have pay cable only basic cable so that Is why her showtime show slipped my mind.

I actually believe Sethypants worked for CW. There's no sane person who would fight tooth and nail for such a sucky network.

1) Yes, you are 5 years to late but it's ok, CW needs to bashed the freak out of for cancelling that show! :argh:

2) Is it me or has Kristen Bell not aged a freakin day since she left the show? What the freak is she drinking? And whatever it is, can I drink her bath water?

The woman who ran TheCW at one point tried to get rid of Supernatural too. She failed.

I know. What was she thinking? But yet you had a thousand of the same shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl. How that crap is still on tv is beyond me.

Yeah I read that they interefered, the thing was those romance subplots weren't even developed so there was nothing to care about even for the teen brigade. The sad thing was that the final ep of season 3 about the Castle felt like it could have just been the beginning of an awesome season long arc for the 4th season. :csad:

Definitely, at times it did feel like they were struggling to make the plot last for 22 episodes, especially with the side plot of Duncan and Meg's baby which took up some time and felt like filler, but hey it got rid of Duncan lol. The issue I had was that Meg's creepy father was not dealt with and it wasn't explained why he bailed Lucky out. It was also interesting to find out that the book actually had a male lead character, all I can say is best sex change ever!

Lol, I had seen her in one or two things and I could see she had a spark but until I saw her as Veronica I had no idea how little any other project had tapped into her talent, I had thought the major reason for her popularity was she was a confessed geek and Star Wars fangirl! :D

Funnily enough I had seen that before, she is adorable in that footage from her Birthday. :O
