The CW Passes on Aquaman

That was just in the Smallville ep, silly ass. Richston was mediocre to say the least.

Hartley seems like he'd be bad ass.

Oh, and considering they live near the ocean and are all water rats I'd expect a little surfer lingo in there.

Considering it looks like bland teen drama I would expect mediocre dialogue silly ass.

I agree, the trailer showed that the series has potential, its just not the direction I wouldve taken with the character.

Well, like I said. Theres always the movies to do the Aquaman story and not the young AC teen soap angle.

I have a feeling GL and Aquaman are the next obvious film properties to be picked up.

WW and Flash both have their scripts handed in and Shazam recently got a director.

Over 80,250 views over at you tube. Holy crap. **Again** I hope this show gets picked up. SO much cool stuff could happen on it. They could have his first battle with Black Manta, they could have Krakens and other sea monsters, they could have Atlantis finding out about him and sending an invasion force to either kill him or catch him. I mean anything could happen. AQUAMAN AQUAMAN AQUAMAN, everybody together now, AQUAMAN AQUAMAN AQUAMAN!

I remember reading somewhere & I THINK that I read somewhere that ACs Mother is not dead. Just kidnapped. Im not sure wether it was in the Pilot Review or one of the things discribing the Show. So obviously this Show has alot to go on

*plots to kill*

:)

We gotta try as hard as we can to make sure this show comes to being. Hell if they need writers I'll volunteer. Ive written a few scripts and Im going to direct my first movie next year. Hell if they want some people Im so in. Since I first saw the trailer Ive outlined 6 episodes. 2 two-parters = 4 epoisodes, and 2 stand alone episodes. I want this show to happen. AQUAMAN!!!

We have officially passed the 100,000 mark. 107,974 views over at youtube and still counting. Excellent.

Have any of you tried contacting the CW directly?

I think a few have sent letters.

At the end of day the best we can hope for is that a few CW folks come across the net buzz and note the interest among the fans.

Aquaman never has been shown like this..

How do you know what THIS is?

From what I remember of Aquaman, just from the trailer alone, the series seemed to honor the character's roots more than I thought it would. They just seem to have him figuring things out later in life. Some of the other things could be an updated spin on the character.
For Smallville, new things like Clark coming to Earth masked in a hail of meteors worked out really well, perhaps any changes could also put the tale of Orin in a more realistic place as well....

Mistaken Reports
Articles in The Washington Post and IGN.com have implied that Aquaman is still a contender for midseason placement, and that this was said at the CW Upfronts by entertainment president Dawn Ostroff on May 18.

We don't want to get up any false hopes, but as far as we know at AquamanTV, there are no plans to put the series on at midseason. Which is why it is very important to spread the word around the Net that you want to see Aquaman - so perhaps, by some miracle or chance, executives at the CW will decide to exercise their right to put in an order for more of the series while they still can.

(And if for some reason the CW does exercise the right to pick this up for midseason, we will happily admit "we're wrong here" and send a million thank-yous Dawn Ostroff's way)

The YouTube trailer has been viewed over 100,000 times in just two days - that's like 1/20 the average weekly audience of, say, Veronica Mars. There's a lot of demand out there, and the best thing you can all do is spread the word.

I hated the meteor change, myself. It opened up the freak-of-the-week formula that's plagued Smallville for most of its run and made pretty much half of everyone in Smallville meteor freaks. I've never understood the pull for realism in comic-related stuff, either. Realistically, you'd think Smallville would've been cordoned off and declared a wasteland with that many mutants walking around, for example.

Anyway, since this trailer is all that exists of the Aquaman show it's obviously too early to tell whether any of the changes they made to Aquaman would've turned out as bad as Smallville's or if they would've actually been good. I'm curious about that glowing necklace he had. If that's a sign that they're tying magic into his origin right from the start, I'd count that as a good change.

I wasnt speaking about the after effects of the meteor shower, I was talking about the meteor shower itself. With todays tech, if any alien craft were to enter Earth's atmosphere, NORAD wouldve been all over that thing like stink on a pig. You didnt have that problem of our technology ion past incarnations of the character. Masking Kal-El's arrival in the hail of meteors makes it not being detected by anyone but the Kents A LOT more believable.

The reason why you want "realism" in comic-related live action stuff is that it adds credibility to it. You define the unreal part in the beginning (Superman, kryptonite, etc) and then set it in a real world, so everything else but him should function as we know it. It enhances the fantasy because it doesnt put it completely out of the realm of our reality.

It's inherently out of the realm of our reality, though. I haven't seen anything in Smallville that's more realistic than what goes on in the comics, honestly. The meteor shower I'll grant you, but the comics probably haven't addressed it (or maybe they have, Clark's had his origin retold a bunch of times lately in the comics) simply because no one thought to. You could always just chalk it up to Krypton's technology being so much more advanced than Earth's that Earth's sensors couldn't have picked the ship up, though.

Oh MJZ, you're going to love this.

I watched the trailer over after going through my Aquaman history again, played close attention to the story, its actually not that bad.

I'm going to give it a fair unbiased shot if it ever airs, hoping it obviously isnt a teen soap.

I was flipping the channels and saw a rerun of some random soap with Hartley in it, he can actually act...despite what he was on. Having a lead actor that can actually act right off the bat is a great move for this series.

I also have to say, this cast really appeals to me way more than the Smallville cast (and thats probably a great thing for the Aquaman series). Lou Diamond Phillips is an awesome actor, plays some badass roles. Ving Rhames is just as badass and I like the fact hes an black exile from Atlantis, they may be able to tie the origins of Black Manta to be his son....somehow.

Unlike SV, where I find none of the female castmembers remotely appealing, Aquaman has 3 out of 4 of them that are pretty good, save for Denise Q (she was horrible in Smallville, so Im hoping she improves here).

Honestly Denise and the possibility of it being a teen soap are my only drawbacks, everything else could be great. They stole my favorite song by Trust Company. The lead actor can actually act and looks like a badass AC, unlike our favorite American Idol reject.

I hope something comes from this. It could be promising if handled right.

I also noticed theyve titled the show 'Aquaman' in the trailer. I hope theyre retooling the show to actually make it Aquaman and not the adventures of young AC in Mercy Reef. AC seems old enough to become Aquaman now anyways and the suit and effects would prolly look cool visually.
