The CW Passes on Aquaman

I think I'd be way more pissed about the CW passing on Aquaman if Justin hadn't been roped in to play Ollie Queen in S6. He was the best part of the pilot, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him tackle the Green Arrow. Maybe even a little more than him playing Aqua dude.

Robin Hood > Atlantis. :D

Me too probably. This is what I like about Al & Miles, besides their episodes, which are always fantastic, they always make perfect casting choices.

There's an article on a potential Aquaman movie on LA Times' web site:

Here's the snippet on the show and its debut earlier this week on iTunes:

LA Times said:
Earlier this week, a previously unseen pilot for an "Aquaman" TV series debuted on iTunes, and the show immediately became the website's most-downloaded video, Apple said.

The TV pilot was created by screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who launched the popular "Superman"-inspired series "Smallville." The "Aquaman" series was initially conceived as a Warner Bros. Television production for the WB network, which has merged with UPN into the new CW network.

The pilot stars Justin Hartley as Arthur "AC" Curry, a young environmental activist grappling with his fledgling responsibilities as the prince of the lost city of Atlantis, shrouded in the Bermuda Triangle. Like the comic book character, Aquaman can breathe underwater — he possesses preternatural power when wet, which diminishes as he dries off.

"For whatever reason, they ultimately decided not to pick it up," says Gough of CW's response to the pilot. "The pilot may not be perfect, but you can certainly see a series there."

You can also see potential audience interest. When Aquaman made a cameo on "Smallville" last season, it was the season's highest-rated episode.

Gough says he is nevertheless pleased that Warners gave his and Millar's pilot to iTunes. In addition to generating thousands of downloads, the pilot also is attracting strong feedback within the industry, enough that Gough holds out slim hope that it could attract enough Internet interest to revive "Aquaman" as a TV series.

Nice review Hulk. . . .I may have to download it now :(

hulk: "In a word, I thought the Pilot was great and the series seemed like it would’ve had a ton of potential."

correct me if i'm wrong, but that's more than a word, right?

i jest. good review, buddy!

It's great that they are talking about a movie. The show being revived would be great as well but I would love to see it turned into a film.

Well I just watched this. On the whole it was decent, but it was also pretty rough in spots and I can kinda see why execs might've been a bit hesitant to pick it up. It moves too fast and I thought it actually paled quite a bit in comparison to the Smallville pilot. This just felt kind of rushed.

Hartley and Rhames are the heart of the show and I do think there's potential for a decent series here, but it'd have to undergo growing pains like any new show.

Well I actually thought that was pretty good. I'm not sure how it would carry out over multiple seasons. It would have made a really good mini-series.

Oh and I much preferred the softer hues of orange and green that they used for AC rather than the bright stuff that he was wearing in Smallville.

Sounds like this was pretty good. Guess I'll have to watch it the old fashioned way since I don't have an ipod.

I just downloaded it from itunes and watched it on my computer.

I thought itunes and ipod were in the same family and you had to have one to do the other. Sounds like something one of my grandparents would say. :O

LOL!

You can download the itunes program from the internet without needing an ipod.

you need iTunes to transfer songs from your computer to your iPod. However you can also use iTunes as a music or video player for your computer without ever downloading anything to an iPod.

I'm waiting for my son to come home with his apple/mac so he can burn it onto a DVD and then I can watch it on my big screen. That should look pretty cool.

if your comp has s-video that could work too

It was a great piolt, yeah it felt rushed in some parts, but i do like the story angles they had set up, with missing people returning for the triangle and the fact that AC has a bounty on his head and also the fact that atlantis is/was undergoing a civilwar. Also the whole goverment angle will come into play.

If it wasnt for Stargate Atlantis I think the show would do very well on the Sci-Fi Channel. I'm just not sure that the sci-fi channel would want it up against its own production.

now normally, i hate anything with Aquaman in the title..but the same could be said for Superman before i watched Smallville
so i might have actually liked Aquaman or Mercy Reef, or whatever they were gonna call it
