We'll have to just wait and see how Otm Shank does in this one. He wasn't who I envisioned from the book, but it could be workable.

i think sophie is perfect...maybe a little softer than what i had imagined. but she seems to fit the role.

and yes, it will be interesting to see what happens when the movie is released...what reactions will be

i cant wait to see this movie, the book is awesome and Ron Howard is really good. I doubt this'll be a poorly made film.

Yea, One of the best books, one of the best directors, and one of the best actors.

i hope they get shumacher to do the sequal

i also doubt it will be a poorly made film. tom hanks chooses his roles really carefully...and he and ron howard knew going in that it would take an incredible film (that would be under a lot of scrutiny) to live up to expectations and inevitable comparisons. plus with the controversy surrounding the book, the film would have to be a piece of art in itself

Agreed. Howard know his work.

2 Questions:

Will The Da Vinci Coe be up for any awards? (Academy and Oscar)

And Has anyone heard what the budget might be?

No idea about the budget, but the movie really doesn't look like Oscar material to me. At least not in the heavy categories.

ok, thanks. I havnt heard anything about the budget and was just wondering.

A British film critic who has seen Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code says it depicts the novel's most controversial proposition -- that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and fathered a daughter -- by staging the hypothetical events. John Hiscock writes in the London Daily Mirror: "As well as scenes of the Inquisition and of women being tortured, burned and drowned, Howard shows Mary fleeing the Holy Land for France and giving birth there." Hiscock calls the film "a superb thriller," and adds: "If anything, Howard has improved on the book by some judicious pruning and by going back into history to depict scenes that the novel referred to only briefly. There is no mystery about The Da Vinci Code's future at the box office. It will be a massive hit."
