Exactly.

If there was an actual re-call, there would be official word of it everywhere. And nothing has comne out of Mattel or any shops. I doubt Mattel would let their tentpole product line for 2008 be effected by led in their paint just a year after the 1st and biggest fiasco the company has ever experienced.

Thing is ... they were just really popular, and saw limited release.

You guys must not understand the world of business very well. A limited release is when you make, yes, a limited amount, but you SELL off that amount. And they will stay on the shelf until they are all sold. This is NOT what happened with the MM figures. They were PULLED off the shelf and sent back. Stores did not sell off the amount they had on hand, but rather pulled them completely. If it were just a limited release, every store would have just finished selling what they had. This move, for whatever reason, is costing Mattel money. That's not a limited release, that's a recall.

The Scarecrow's Face Looks Better Than The Other And Amazing !

well, based off what my local TRUs and WM has told me, they had an intial shot, sold thru it, and are not scheduled to receive anymore in. Thats not a recall. This information came from managers, not floor clerks. Also if you go to the Mattel website there is no recall posted for anything in 2008. Mattel has also not stated any recal information when contacted by the various collector boards that they have contact with. This collectors line was not meant be to be produced in the large quantity that the basic lines are. They just didnt anticipate the demand for this line. Usual Mattel screw up.

On another note, TRUs had their huge TDK display up but was only partially filled. The rest of the area was covered up with signs stating that product will be available on July 18th. They also had pre order cards for the pod shooting Tumbler. If you pre purchase it you get a free plastic mask with it.

Hmm... I saw a weird thing in Toys R Us yesterday and came here to see if there was any infor on it. The TDK display had some price labels saying "15 cm hyper figures" and "The Dark Knight 2-pack" and yet the items in the places where the labels were were the 12 inch figures. I don't know if they did temporarily have the hyper figures there then pulled them or if they haven't had them yet but obviously something weird's going on. I'm in Australia so it's obviously some kind of worldwide issue with these figures.

Went to Toys R Us yesterday as well. They had the following in stock - standard figures, "Power Tek" figures (never heard of them before, but they've got ridiculous accessories and are metallic purple and blue in colour!), 12" Batman and Bruce Wayne as Batman figures. No movie masters, and nobody there knew if they were going to get them at all.

Picked up a 12" figure though, good detailing.

How much was the 12 inch? There was no price for the ones I saw because the labels on the shelves were for the hyper figures.

Ok, I posted that my Wal-Mart pulled the MM figures a few weeks back, I know for a fact they pulled them because I know several people that do the unloading there-personal friends. The shelves in my area say, hook-Hyper Force (MM) Batman 11.88-with a little tab next to all 8 or 10 hooks saying Pull & Hold. I asked my friends about this and they said the whole box is just sitting in the back room. Now some of the other local Wal-marts have the MM's in stock, only the old set. Like a goon and a Batman, anyhow its the new cases they won't put out (I don't know which figures are sitting back there, but one person said that its the same figures) but they all have toys in their backrooms that's just sitting back there with no time stamp or Street Date marked on them. Anyhow a manager said that they sold them too early the first time and were in trouble (BS), another lady that works the toy section said investigation, but didn't know exactly. So they have pulled them-at least in my neck of the woods.

All I know is that I want those figures.

I wish they'd sculpted a proper body for the Demonbats figure. It wasn't just the BB suit in the movie, and I'd like to see an accurate figue since we never got a decent look at it in the film.

$49.99. Yeah, it's a little pricey, but for what it is compared to $14.99 for the crappy regular figures it's well worth it. They had a massive cardboard TDK display at the Toys R Us but no movie masters, Tumblers etc.

Keep an eye out at your local Target too. I picked up two movie masters Batmans, a Joker and a thug about three weeks ago. $19.99 each. That's all they had and they haven't got any since. I haven't seen them anywhere else either.

I heard the MM Joker is gonna be a limted release because the heath ledger joker face is "Too scary"(some guy on youtube said that)
is this true? If so than that;s freakin' B.S cause if they were honestly concrened about kids being scared then over half of the toys they are bringing out shouldn't even make it to toy store shelves or they should raise they should change what age they recomend the figures for.

Yep, same thing here, they were pulled and not sold out. Every store around here was loaded with the Batman and Thug MM figures, then all at once every store has a huge empty space from when they pulled them. I don't know if they are keeping them in the back of the stores or if they shipped them back to Mattel, but they were pulled.

fans of australia
try target thats where i got the mm's from

2 jokers, a masked batman and the goon

I think this is the closest i'll ever get to a TDK joker toys that actually resembles Heath Ledger:

You must not understand that if it were an actual recall, a reason would be given either by the store or the producer of the good. Neither has happened? Might they have been pulled and pending a decision? Sure. But there isn't a full defined recall.

the 12" DCD versions of Batman and Joker are now out. They look fantastic but have a pretty hefty cost. Most places are selling them for about $90-99.

Too bad, because I would really love to own both. The accessories for all of them are awesome. They come with tones of stuff.

I nearly bought this little 2 pack that had Star Wars size Batman and Joker.

But I put it down when I saw Voyager Optimus Prime.

I thought I would pass this along to all you guys as well:

NO BS--REAL STORY ON DISAPEARANCE OF MM FIGURES!!!

CLICK BELOW:

http://www.poeghostal.com/2008/06/toys-r-us-pulling-mattel-products-including-dcuc.html

It’s being reported on several message boards that Toys R’ Us stores around the country have pulled Mattel toys off the shelves, including The Dark Knight, Kung-Fu Panda, Speed Racer and even DCUC.

I contacted my sources at Mattel to find out if this was an official recall on their end, and this was their response:

There is no recall on any of these products. Individual retailers are free to decide what product is on their shelf and how much space it gets, but there is no recall.

TRU employees on the message boards have agreed that this appears to be an internal recall, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed. According to these employees, the toys are “under investigation,” but not definitely recalled for safety reasons.

So what’s going on? I suspect it has something to do with TRU’s stringent new safety rules, which went into effect March 1. There may have been some sort of procedural issue, i.e., Mattel didn’t test their products enough times for TRU’s new standards, or didn’t date-code their items properly.

It’s quite possible all the product will be back on shelves within the week…or Mattel could announce a recall later today. I’ll update this post with any new information I receive.

UPDATE: Over at the Fwoosh, user Big_Ricks_Customs went the extra mile and got in touch with Toys R’ Us’s corporate office:

Anyway I called the corporate office and they gave me the exact same speech the manager at the store gave me. “Those figures are under investigation right now by TRU. TRU always tries to present the public with the highest quality product as possible. Until this investigation is done these figures won’t be available at TRU or TRU.com.” When asked if this was a Mattel recall he said “no”. I asked him if this was a lead issue like last year and he said “no”. He said if I feel uncertain to just return my kids toys and they will give a full refund (didn’t say they were mine Laughing ). I asked if all the DK stuff is involved and he said that they are pulling all product till this investigation is complete.

Well there it is as shady as he was he did give some answers at least. I don’t think they wanted news to get out so quickly as I caught him by surprise. Oh well hopefully when this is done they will have plenty of DCUC and MM to put out.

Mattel Toys Being Pulled From Shelves?!?!

Over the last few days, we have been getting questions from readers asking why it seems like certain Mattel products such as the new line of 6" Dark Knight Movie Master figures have been pulled off retailer shelves. Reports are spreading that stores like Toys R' Us and Target have been pulling these figures, along with Speed Racer, DCUC and Kung Fu Panda products.

To try to get to the bottom of this mystery, we went to Mattel's own Dan Salazar and asked him what he could tell us about these occurences. He provided us with an an official statement from Mattel on the matter:

Mattel is withdrawing certain limited products from retailer shelves worldwide. While these products meet with applicable local standards, the products do not meet Mattel internal specifications. Because these toys are safe, it is not necessary for us to "recall" them from the market. To confirm, no U.S. standards have been violated and no recall under federal law is warranted.

Though an exact list of the items being withdrawn by Mattel was not available, Dan did tell me that all products that were planned to be in Mattel's lines for ’08 will still be on store shelves…nothing is being dropped from this incident.

If now or in the future you as a consumer ever have questions or concerns involving products you have purchased, we reccomend you contact the retailer where you purchased the item(s) from. The retailer usually will have a specific list of any active product recalls for items they carry. You can also check the official goverment recall website at www.recalls.gov for additional information on products that have been recalled for saftey reasons.

It's time to spread the word.....and the word...is PANIC.

guys dont give up yet theirs still ebay, please use it . it seems like the only way now to get that mm fig.

I love that announcment. There is no official "recall", but we pulled product anyway. wtf??
