The Dark Knight Action Figure SCOOP

I think the proportion of the body looks weird.

The size of the legs are off, the head is too big and the chest is too big. - Needs to look a little more realistic.

we appreciate your modesty but the nolan ass kissing has got to stop.

Ass kissing? Try Batman's ass kissing instead. I praise Nolan for what he did with Batman. It has nothing to do with just being a fan of Nolan. :oldrazz:

Nope, not in my area, and reports were pretty consistent around the country. The Begins toy line sat on the shelves. There was no problem at all finding any of them. Even the shorter pack figures became aoverly abundant once they hit the discount stores. Hell, there are even some remaining Begins figs at a local Family Dollar. Plus, at my local TRUs they still have afew of those black costumed Ducards hanging on the pegs with the Brando Superman figs. This line flopped big time, slower than any other line Ive seen in recent years.
well, that must be your area. none are left here and I stay in a major market. the line was hardly a flop. you can find toys from any movie in surplus. they make a ton for a reason. pirates, superman, spiderman, ninja turtles ... you name it. that doesn't make the line a flop. in fact the begins line did fairly well.
so, do you have a break down of the numbers that decided if it was a flop or not.

i too saw a surplus of begins stuff for a loooong time. it might have done OK, but i dont think the line did well.

Im not gona argue with you. Go to one of the action figure or Batman boards and ask. Im basing the statement that the line was a flop on the fact that the toys clogged the pegs for weeks until the storess had to mark them down to practically nothing for them to move. Kinda like they did with the Superman Returns line. Sat on shelves for weeks, the same fiugres, until they marked them down for fast move out. That is hardly a successful line. As far as Spidey, Turtles, and even Pirates, those were/are more diverse lines. They have "expanded" sets and characters that keep the lines moving. Begins did not offer this. They had the same multi colored, multi armored Batman figs that just collected dust. This was a major topic on the boards back when the movie hit. Sorry you missed it.

I have to agree. The Begins toy line was far from a "success". Any line that has to be reduced to such a low retail in order for merchants to sell them thru can be viewed as a "flop". This, and the fact that they also clogged the shelves at second tier stores like Family Dollar, Meijers, and Big Lots for months after doesnt look well either. It means they overproduced for the market, which obviously wasnt as hungry for these toys as they thought they would be. That is not a successful line.

yeah the BB line here in Canada (Ottawa in particular) was vast. I ended up finding 6 Green Tunic Ducard's one day (they were in this huge display for a sale) .. the sale was supposed to be $4.99 each .. I grabbed ONE Green Tunic Ducard and went to the cash. They scanned thru as $29.99 each AND as Bob the Builder .. haha... the cashier saw nothing wrong with asking for 35 dollars for that little figure from me ... I of course put her in her place, got the manager.. put HIM in his place and got them for $4.99 in the end ...

i find it better when the figures don't sell fast
easier to get the ones you want
without traveling across the country

Seriously. Mattel has the Four Horsemen. Some of the best sculptors and toy makers in the business. Why can't they just do the Dark Knight figures?

Hey Vile.....we meet again. :cmad:

I believe the Four Horsemen ARE sculpting the deluxe TDK figures.

Nolan's Batman movie so far is the G.O.A.T.

I have no reason to believe why TDK shouldn't top that even.

As far as the Mattel line ... no one here knows how well or how bad the line did. Basing your opinion off figures being on the shelves for awhile in your area is hardly proof that it didn't sell well, let alone a "flop."

You can find toys from all mass released blockbusters clogging shelves for months, sometimes years after it release. BEGINS wasn't that bad. The figures came out April 2, 2005 ... and were gone off shelves by Christmas of 2005. Spider-man, POTC, Superman, Star Wars, Transformers, Ninja Turtles the Batman all have sat around and collected dust. Hardly a judge of whether a line did well or not.

Saying a series "wasn't that bad" is hardly a glowing review. Considering the quality Marvel Legends used to have and Mattel's DCUC now contains it would be hard to justify more 5" scale mediocre figures as was seen with BB. Espically with the images of the Iron man movie toys now online that have raised the bar for movie action figures, IMO.

Luckily these issues have seemingly been addressed with an extra 6" scale collector friendly series. My hope is that either through Mattel or DC Direct we get a quality 12-13" deluxe version of Ledger's Joker, as I have since left the mass market toys behind. With ebay and the never ending stream of new figures and series it's far too easy to get caught in a buy-sell-buy routine.

I am sure TAKARA, MEDICOM, or HOT TOYS will be producing 12 inch versions.

hey, just found this on another forum, not sure if this is new or not.

also, about the 6 inch line, are they going to be making characters from Begins as well?

wow beyond god awful. The 6inch line will only have scarecrow and batman from begins

thats not ass kissing. thats the truth. you ass kiss on a daily basis. thats not my style.:boba:

The truth? Yeah right. Don't make me laugh there. There no truth to back it up on your sig. quote. Only people who buy that are Burtonite. Without the comics, Burton probably wouldn't have much of a career with no Batman around. :hehe:

And you are an ass kisser yourself. You can't hide it, so deny it if you want to. ;)
