I'm not hopeful of Danny getting a costume in Defenders. I think for some reason the showrunnners probably think IF's costume is too daunting to adapt in live action. But, yet, it just doesnt make sense that this public figure wouldn't want to protect his identity when he's fighting crime.

IF's costume is too daunting, and yet they flaunt around other costumes on DD that look close to what IF could be wearing like the DD's proto costume or that head scarf he wears in that elevator.

I think they just don't want to put him in one.

Soon we'll see DD in a green and yellow version of his proto costume with a yellow head scarf and they'll still conclude that it wouldn't work for Iron Fist.

I get the feeling he's probably never going to shave his beard, but they're going to keep it around like Thor has one. They'd probably rather have the beard than the mask.

Meanwhile in season 3 of DD, Matt is going to get an open shirt costume with a high collar and a head wrap, and everyone will praise it, while over on Iron Fist they'll say such outfits could never work.

I have to admit, even though I have said it is more important they release Iron Fist in costume when it makes sense to do so within the story, I would be lying to say Iron Fist Season 1 wasn't in part a disappointment to me due to the lack of a costume. However, I tried to justify it by saying be patient they are going to release him in costume during the Defenders, and Like Skye becoming Quake for the first time, the build up will have a large pay off in the end and it will be worth it. Now though, I am starting to Fear it is not a waiting game, but a lack of their intention to put Iron Fist in costume ever. Which is just plain stupid. I don't understand Marvel TV's trepidation. The movies are more or less embracing the costumes and the Superhero genre exploded because of it. The general public is not turned off by Superhero's that dress the part. So, I hope Marvel TV gets their act together especially with the amount of new shows that seem to be coming out. It should be a moment of excitement for all fans, but if what they are doing with Iron Fist is an indication of the direction they are planning on going with the other shows, I have to say I am more nervous then excited.

Ironically, the IF costume we saw in that archive footage was a PERFECT LOOKING COSTUME. Just give that to him and touch it up a little.

How? It's not like those kinds of beards are uncommon. Sometimes it's easier to recognize someone who doesn't have a beard because the beard could cover up someone's special bone structure. Take Ben Affleck for example. It would've been harder to recognize him as Daredevil if he would've covered up that bad boy of a chin with a beard.

That assumes the point of the costume is to hide his identity rather than to fully take the mantle of the Iron Fist.

That being said, I'd push back a little on it making him easy to identify. Certainly, it helps narrow it down (people would certainly see him as a plausible person once they start to suspect him), but he wouldn't be instantly recognizable. After all, it's not like he's the only person in all of New York to have facial hair like that.

People saying his beard makes it easy for him to be recognized don't understand the size/scope of NYC. Yes, Matt has been in the news but he's blind so people would assume it's not him. There are far too many people in NYC to have them go "Itd Matt Murdock because he has a beard"

Also, how many times did we get set pics from Daredevil Season 2 where Matt was in costume? I can only remember one and it was the bad rooftop photo. And yet, he was in his costume for most of the season. So anyone that is worrying, they really shouldn't.

I'm hoping Danny actually uses the power of the iron Fist more. It's the one thing that really annoyed me.

Maybe he needs a full face mask of which the lower half is of a beardless face. Then he won't have to shave off his beard but just put on a no beard mask.

Think I'll just quote myself from the IF costume thread since the topic is still being discussed here for this show.

I wonder if something akin to the Ultimateverse version of Danny's costume could work. Though I would add that with the classic IF style headscarf as well and have the forearm wraps cover his fists akin to Matt's proto-Daredevil costume.

Though that might come off a bit like Double Dragon. lol

I think, as others have stated, the behind the scenes pic of the headscarf shows that it can work. I don't necessarily think it will show up in Defenders. I think the only problem could really be how do you adress it in story, which may be more of a task in a show that isn't centred on Iron Fist himself.

If there is a season 2 of Iron Fist then it could prove easier to write it in more naturally as part of the lore of IF and not just a stylish mask to hide Danny's isentity. For example Gao has spoken of meeting previous Iron Fists. Perhaps he acquires the mask of the IF from the archive footage from her? Davos could even have acquired it from her and in turn Danny takes it from him. Or when Danny reaches K'un-lun we're shown others with similar garb and he is gifted his own. Just a couple of ideas.
