I hope not too much. They're getting a bit boring and one-note, especially with Nobu. It would be very easy to overplay that hand.

But all the evidence kind of all adds up to that. I could see other smaller things coming up from the other series but The Hand offers a big enough threat to have to bring the heroes together along with giving them a lot of enemies to take down.

Also, before the end of the second season, The Hand had no real stake for Daredevil other than destroying his part of NYC but now, they will be lead by [BLACKOUT]Elektra[/BLACKOUT], which will add a whole lot more stakes to defeating them as I'm sure [BLACKOUT]Matt would not want to kill/hurt her[/BLACKOUT].

I really hope that they don't only fight the Hand. Daredevil did plenty of that already, so how would they do that again, without it feeling repetitive? There needs to be something more than that.

They have been holding things back, regarding The Hand. The pit, what exactly Black Sky is/does, and what it means for Manhattan. I feel like there's a lot coming from all those things.

Sure, and I think that the Hand storyline should continue in the Defenders, but the whole season shouldn't be about that. I don't find the Hand to be that compelling, so I would rather have another main villain.

Well, The Defenders series is only going to be around 4-8 episodes so there isn't a whole lot of room to add a lot.

Well, 4 episodes are roughly 2 movies, so I do think they have some room. And they definitely have it if there's more than 4 episodes.

I am fairly certain that The Defenders will be at least 8 episodes.

Yeah I'm very positive that it is 8 episodes.

It'll be 8 episodes max unless they renegotiated the contract. I'm hoping it's 8 episodes too. 4 would be way too short.

As far as I remember, the original deal mentioned a total of 60 one-hour episodes, which makes up for 4 shows of 13 episodes each, and one show of 8 episodes.

^

Yup, 60 episodes was the original deal, which didn't include DD season 2. The thumb rule is that when a business partnership is really working well, as seems to be the case with Marvel/Netflix, changes to the original contract and/or handshake agreements will be made smoothly and swiftly.

All in all, I'm thinking we get 8 episodes, but not less. There are a lot of moving parts that need to be brought together without rushing the story. And if the showrunners absolutely believe that they need more than 8 episodes to tell the story they've crafted, I'm sure Netflix will give them the OK.

Anyone slightly worried that the Daredevil Season 2 showrunners are doing this? Yes, Season 2 was good but they if they can't balance the Punisher/Elektra storylines, how do they plan to balance Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist?

"Daredevil" Season 2 was Daredevil + Punisher & Elektra, building that story around him. This time they aren't burdened to one character/protagonist. The only thing I'd worry about in terms of the balancing issue is if they play favorites. It could easily stem from that just like trying not to forget who the titular character is on a solo series. Otherwise they're fine for now.

Yes, they had to build around Daredevil. But they weren't able to balance out / intertwine Punisher and Elektra storylines properly. Punisher just showed up at the end and shot some Hand ninjas before leaving. It was essentially two different seasons crammed into one. So if they can't balance those storylines, how are they supposed to intertwine the storylines and characters from their individual series?

I'm going to remain cautious (especially with Drew Goddard back on board), but it is something to worry about.

The Frank Castle storyline was the first 4 episodes fully and then continued on through EVERY episode. I think they balanced it really well as Matt's struggle to juggle everything was the big thing for the season.

Those are two different things. Daredevil had two concurrent but separate story lines that shared themes and motifs as they relate to the main character.

Defenders will be four characters brought together by the same story. Whatever the plot and whoever the antagonist it'll be one story line.

Every time I think about this Team Up I get really hype. I just love teamups, I like seeing heroes fight together.

Avengers, Gaurdians, Legends of Tomorrow, Flash/Arrow, Flash/Supergirl, and soon this. :D

The deal was for 60 episodes. Iron Fist, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage each get 13. Defenders gets 8. Budgeted at about $200 million for all 60.

So they would have to alter the deal to do more for Defenders.

I think eight is a good amount. Sometimes 13 is even too much :D .

^ I wouldn't want that for the Netflix series. Keep it more grounded. What are these 4 heroes going to do against him anyway?

I missed the days when people wouldn't try to validate their fan fiction by calling it a rumor.

That's been an internet rumor for a few years. I recall reading about it a couple years ago.

This is the same site that claimed the Kingpin was totally gonna be in Homecoming, and D'Onofrio shot that down.

One look at the story should give it away. Especially this:

Members of the Serpent Society will slither their way onto Luke Cage. Perhaps they’ll fight the whole team of snake-themed baddies.

The fact that they're stating that the Serpent Society will appear in Luke Cage (even though it's a completely different Cottonmouth and Diamondback) tells me it's complete bull*****.
