Thanks, Dread
I think I asked you this before, but I can't remember the answer. Are you trying out any of the new 52, or are you dropping out of DC altogether with the relaunch until
Batman Beyond comes back.
More than likely, that. The only one of the New 52 that I have any interest in is BLUE BEETLE, and I'm put off by the idea that about a third of my 35 previous issues of material won't matter and I'll be confused about his history. This is a character I followed in almost all his solo appearances and even back-up strips. I saw no reason to reboot his history, just to continue onward. Confusion is not a turn-on for comics to me, unless they're Alan Moore when it's stuff I maybe have to take a breath and think about. Not, "oh, Ted Kord never lived now" or **** like that.
I have no interest in JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL, despite it having Dan Jurgens and Booster Gold in it - with somewhat of a transitional issue from the finale of BOOSTER GOLD. I wanted to read BG, not JLI. If I wanted to read that, I'd have read GENERATION LOST...which now doesn't count, either. So no reason to read that in trade. The New 52 won't do trade sales any favors. Sure, classic runs will still sell, but who the **** will want to read, say, the final 6-12 issues of ZATANNA or SUPERGIRL now that they're worthless to continuity in a year's time, anyway?
The New 52 isn't a straight-up, scorched earth relaunch - likely because DC is seeing that Marvel's own Ultimate line started getting bogged down in it's own continuity within a few years time. But, the "pick and choose continuity" DC has employed instead is confusing, hypocritical, and unequal. Thus, I'll go from reading two DC books to none. And I'm precisely the sort of fan DC may need - someone who invests more in Marvel, and knows more of their universe from other medias like TV and film than comics (even if I know enough about their comics to be confused).
hippie_hunter and I are arguing about this in another topic.
