The Disney owns Fox thread

I don't really like the idea of one corporation owning so many studios, but on the other hand it might be worth it if we could get the unaltered versions of the original Star Wars trilogy released officially.

The amount of R rated franchises they are getting worries me in this deal. I don’t want to see PG-13 Predator, Alien or Deadpool movies.

Forget about them getting Avatar as well, it’s a bit of a scary prospect so many franchises will be under them.

Disney had a studio for things that didn't fit the Disney brand. Miramax for quite a few years. Which I believe had quite a few Tarantino stuff. They are not spending $60 billion to shutter a major motion picture studio. 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight are likely to continue on as normal.

If anything, they may use Fox as a place to utilize other Marvel properties that don't fit the MCU brand. Blade revival anyone?

I hope that if this deal is completed, it means a more expansive production slate for Marvel's television projects. There should be more characters in the Marvel Knights world. Also there needs to be a lot more marvel animation projects- for TV and movies, straight to video and theatrical. Why not?

As far as movies, I hope that the producers are extremely selective and careful in how to integrate the Fantastic Four and X-Men characters. Having a full blown Fan-Four movie may not be a good look right now. But having them be guest characters in a future film would work just fine. The way the Thing is portrayed is especially important. Have him be motion capture this time.

I don't like 21st Century Fox as it is going away but can we really do anything? If Fox wants to focus on news and sports that's what they're going to do. And since I despise Comcast and feel like their are at laast some advantages to this, I'll be sort of okay with it......kinda.

Fox could have gone to Sony...it could be much worse.

Some of the rumored details has me real, real worried about this deal.

Realize what you're saying here. Disney is becoming more of a monopoly with more power yet you're thinking relatively, it might be all worth it because of some unaltered movies?

Not aimed at you, but if anyone seriously believes this is a good deal they are out of touch with reality and are focusing on the wrong things and not the big picture.

But hey, as long as I get to enjoy my X-Men movies crossed over with Marvel then all is well. Now let me be amused to death!

You sure like to comment on how people are focusing on the wrong thing without actually telling people what focusing on the right thing will do. We don't have any power to stop this even if we wanted to. Who else is going to buy the assets that's preferable? Attempted murderers of the internet?

what i dont like is it takes another studio away from upcoming film makers to pitch ideas too having options is a good thing

for example back to the future was rejected by several studios

There is no right thing in this context or relating to my point. Hence why I didn't say it. Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

A few movies we get to enjoy don't mean jack **** except for someone who may not have a grasp on the implications of this ordeal. If you are a rational adult who knows these things you will look at the big picture. A conglomerate like Disney eating up yet another studio is bad. Look at Disney's track record.

Just because it's outside our control doesn't mean we shouldn't care about it and criticize and be aware of what this could do. Disney is not going to stop.

Disney makes awesome Pixar movies, awesome Marvel movies, has brought Star Wars back in a big way.... what are they doing wrong again?

I care. It just doesn't matter that I care and I understand that.

Using Star Wars to bully theaters into getting better deals. There is also a big concern about them killing 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight, and the type of films they make, which Disney currently doesn't.

Can't wait for Disney's take on the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. And hopefully 20th Century Fox the film studio would specialize on Searchlight-like films and more adult oriented stuff. Though I think they should keep Blue Sky for their animated films.

Enough movies like Snatched, Morgan, X-Men Apocalypse, Alien films, Die Hard, Alvin and the Chipmunks and Assassin's Creed.

Why would Disney spend $75 billion dollars to buy something and then not do ANYTHING with it? They need more content for their upcoming streaming service. They are always going to need more content for it (just the past movies won't always be enough). Its why they are buying these assets in the first place.

Whether it matters or not isn't the point. It's about that it does matter, whether we're powerless to stop it or not.

How the hell is Disney acquiring Fox Studios a "monopoly"?

Lol.. indeed, every movie that ever comes out from now will be from Disney. :D
