The Dark Knight The Ending: Your Way

Everybody knows that the ending for TDK could of been improved. So, I wanted to see some of the stuff you guys could come up with for the ending that would be better.

Heres mine: Instead of two-face going after gordons family he goes after joker. He realizes that its all jokers fault that what happend to him and rachel. So two-face shows up with a gun where joker overlooks the ferrys in the building. Joker tries to talk to two-face but hes so angry that he just ignores it. Just as two-face is about to shoot joker, batman appears from the darkness. Batman tries to talk two-face out of killing joker but as soon as you think he changes his mind, he shoots batman. Two-face then slowly approches joker with the gun aimed to his head. Everything is silent for a few moments until two-face says "You left me to die... so let me repay the favor." As he talks the music builds up with intensity. Batman leaps out and takes down harvey with a mighty blow. Two-face lays unconcious as batman gets up to face joker. Joker takes out a knife as batman comes at him. Then batman and joker duke it out for a little bit until joker somehow pins batman down to the edge of the window. Then joker says whatever he said in the movie. He finishes talking to batman by asking him, "You know how I got these scars?" Batman replies, "No, but I know how you got these." Immeadiatly the blades from his gauntlets shoot out and hit joker in the face sending him flying out of the window. His fall is broken by batmans grappling gun. He reels him up and then they talk for a little bit (same as it was in the movie). After they talk batman leaves joker hanging upside down outside the window. Then it cuts to a shot of the new wayne manor, looking almost exactly as it did before. Then bruce and alfred come into the picture. They look at it as they exchange a few words, then they walk up the stairs to the door as the camera pans out while some soft emotional music plays in the background. The screen suddenly goes black and then it cuts to a SWAT team rushing up some stairs to where the joker was hanging. They look around the room and notice two-face unconcious on the ground. But no sign of joker anywhere. "Where did he go?" One of the SWAT member asked. They approach the window where joker was hanging and they look down to see a dizzying drop. But still no sign of him...

No hard feelings...but that was bad. The movie ends on the note of the Joker disappearing? What was the point of cutting to Bruce and Alfred and then going back in time?

It needed to be something Batman-related, and we got it with the Dark Knight speech and smashing of the bat signal. The ending was perfect, I don't know why everyone on this forum only is so worked up about it.

So you wanted a major villain to die after about 10 minutes of screentime?
You want a main villian to live to cheapen the meaning and the theme of the movie:huh:

The main villian was joker, but Batman had more in common with Dent and when Dent died, a little piece of Batman died with him.

No...not most people. Critics loved it, I loved it, and according to the poll, well over 90% thought it was a 9/10 or 10/10. So the ending was fine.

You went into this movie with a notion in your head about how you wanted things to go down and they didn't so you are trying to justify your letdown by rationalizing in your head that most people hated this or a lot of people hated that...well they didn't.

I think you are in the minority there.
I thought a bunch of people were complaining about the ending in the user reivew thread?

I would hand Chris Nolan the camera and say "I dont know a flying fig about film-making...you do it and I'll just sit back and watch".

The only people that wanted the ending changed are the guys that expected Harvey being the main dude in the 3rd his arc ended perfectly in 30 mins what more could you have wanted him to span that out into 60 mins tops with him killing Maronie and the two cops then finally going after Gordan

Not to mention your ending was horrible Joker's Ace in the hole was Two-Face that was his master plan all along to push some one over the edge completely and he did it the ending is perfect the way it is

I don't think the ending needed to be tweaked or fixed. It ended on a dark tone, your ending sounds to happy and campy for a Batman film. Two-Face just gets knocked out and thats the last we see of him until the next? His confrontation with Batman and Gordan was more twisted and emotional, yours just sounds like the basic comic-book villain showdown.

Conebone, I've seen a couple of your posts and you seem like a cool guy, but at the risk of sounding disrespectful; This thread is total FAIL.

Firstly, your post reeks of ignorance, no not EVERYBODY hated the ending, hell MOST people, from where i stand, loved the ending. I understand your qualms with this movie, and most of it stems from the ending, especially the death which is the most controversial part of the film. However Two faces death works so well in the context of the film, changing it would lessen the point of the entire film.

No two face didnt have around 10 minutes of screentime, he wasnt venomized. Harvey was pretty much the back bone of the entire movie and two face was simply a character development rather than a character in itself. It was still harvey, a man who started out with great optimism, then eventually got corrupted by all the bad **** that joker brought about.

Two face wasnt meant to be a character for the next film, something you ASSUMED. Nolan dosent think in franchises, he thinks in making the best movie he possibly can. The ending is perfection, the montage of harveys funeral, gordon smashing the bat signal, caine burning rachels letter, and batman riding off during gordons powerful speech it really gives a final kick, great power added to a very deep and thoughtful film

Again this is the opinion of one guy, im pretty sure plenty of others feel the same way.

you complain about the ending when yours is much worse...

unsurprising

Two-Face breathes, and some indication that Batman Gordon went on to have him hidden away somewhere--possibly as a John Doe at some overseas asylum (perhaps as one of the short vignettes they showed, such as Fox sdestroying the sonar array and Dent's memorial).

Maybe alter Gordon's voice over slightly. That's all. The rest of the ending was right on target. Very potent.

You should just wait a month and then make this thread.

Maybe everyone will have calmed down enough to actually talk about it.

It doesn't need to be changed, it was one of the most powerful and moving endings I've ever seen.
yeah i agree....but i would add a scene of joekr laughing in arkham or somethin like that

are you serious ? you need to see some other movies then.

Nowhere in my post did I proclaim it to be the best ending and most powerful, but it certainly is in my list of amazing endings.

I like how you, and several other people, assume that most people are here are too caught up in their nerdgasms to rationally discuss the movie.

Personally, I loved the movie. It wasn't perfect, but it was the best I've seen in awhile. I thought the ending was great, and I wouldn't change anything about it. Ask me again in a month and I'll say the same thing.

I wouldn'thave really changed much (great movie, great ending IMO)but I would have let the Joker have the last say in the movie. Nothing big but kind of like Norman Bates in Psycho.

no offense conebone, but i dont like your version at all. i thought the ending was fine the way it was, maybe make it clearer that two-face was dead or not since alot of people are debating about it, but thats about it......and maybe have Joker in Arkham or something but either way, it was fine

Ok, jeez, sorry. Your acting like im flaming or something

Well, its quite annoying when people try to speak for the majority when what they're saying is completely wrong, criticize something, and then goes on to write an ending that dosent have half the excitement of the one we got, and really comes off as fan fiction rather than a fitting end to a movie

Heck, I loved the movie... but there is a lot of "CONEBONE FAILS" and "You suck" in this thread.

Personally, I loved the movie. It wasn't perfect,

Ditto. I can't wait to see it again.

Ask me again in a month and I'll say the same thing.

And now we wait.
