Did you choose that? Or did your parents make you?

If you chose that, then thats all good man. Your parents laid out the rules, and you did your own thing.

My parents told me everything. The pros, the cons, the dangers. I did my own research, I dont drink, but I smoke sometimes.

I chose not to drink on my own (my father was a heavy drinker at the time, my mother an occasional one)....I don't smoke either...but I luvs chocolate.

Nothing at all wrong with that. My point is, kids will be less harsh one someone who chooses not to do those things, rather then someone who says "I cant because my dad told me too."

That just leads to them becoming more open to that idea. To be a rebel. You MUST let kids make descisions on their own.

My parents know I've smoked. And I even got in trouble by the cops for it. I learned my lesson, and whats better then making your own mistake and learning from it? (The mistake was, never smoke in public, in a car...lol.)

Hmmm. If the police knocked on my door and said I was under arrest or gave me a fine for drinking by looking at month old Facebook pics I'd tell them to go take a running jump.

Seriously...looking through complete strangers pictures is not only imposing on privacy, but it's creepy. Cops shouldn't be allowed to do that or be able to use it as evidence.

Actually I'd bring out the peedo card.

"What you looking at my pics for? You like little boys or something?"

If they are allowed to do this, what's next? Fiber optic cameras in random peoples homes without warrants looking for crimes?

Privacy? If you put your picture on the internet it is no longer private really.

I need to address something that nobody else has brought up:

I had no idea that getting caught drinking from the ages 18-20 involved getting a ticket. In fact, I never even thought about what the cops would do to you if they caught you drinking if you were below the legal age but still an adult. I didn't start drinking until I was 21 (my mom took me out for my first drink on my birthday, that saintly old gal). Other than that, like I said before, it was adults sneaking me a few sips of wine and stuff on rare occasions.

I never drank....and I had a great time in high school. I can have fun without having to take mind altering chemicals.

Agreed 100%. I loved high school and college and never used anything (including alcohol).

Yeah, but it sounds like this kid set his profile to private since the cop that to pose as a hot girl to get a friend request accepted. Seems really shady.

When I was in college underage drinking got you a $150-200 ticket and actually that goes for everyone at the party even over 21 year olds since they were in the presence of minor's drinking. One of my friend's parties got busted and even the designated driver got a $150-200 ticket

But you chose it correct? Your dad didnt force it on you...correct?

Yeah, I mean, nobody forced me to do anything or not do anything. I really dont see how anyone, even a parent, could actually FORCE their kids to do/not do something. If a kid really wants to do it, they will find a way.

Now, my dad discouraged alcohol and drug use for all the obvious reasons, but I dont ever remember him "preaching" to me about it or anything.

I'm going to dumb this facebook thing down pretty far, but I feel this fake facebook account thing is basically a different form of "going undercover".

So they shouldn't be allowed to have female police officers impersonate prostitutes, or pose as drug dealers?

And before anyone says anything, yes, we all understand underage drinking isn't as bad as drug related crimes or prostitution.

I think it's different because you're catching the person in the act. While, I think the drinking age is too high, I'm okay with someone getting busted for underage drinking if they're caught in the act, it's a risk everyone takes. By your logic, if I've got a picture on Facebook of me in my car talking to a girl outside it, then could potentially arrest me for hiring a prostitute.

Depends on the picture, wouldn't it? Do we even have the picture of the alleged underage drinker?

Agreed. The bottom line is simple. The moron in question posted a picture of himself participating in illegal activity. He allowed a complete stranger to view this picture. The stranger turned out to be a cop. The moron got busted. This would be no different than if said moron was sitting in a restaurant showing pics to his buddies, and someone asked to see them. If he let's them and the pics contain photographic evidence of illegal activity, and the person he shows them to is a cop, then he gets busted.

Now, if the cop hacked the moron's Facebook and found the pics, then, yes, invasion of privacy, and unlawful search and seizure.

You should be able to use your facebook in the afterlife.. like hellbook, or heavenbook.. no purgatorybook though

it suggests i talk to two friends of mine who are dead.

I guess now they've finally made one of those Facebook cemeteries like they did for MySpace. A girl on my cheerleading team in high school killed herself (ironic, I know), and as far as I know, her Facebook is still up. I only had her added on MySpace, and that's become a kind of memorial for her.

I actually know a guy from my HS who was a year behind me who died summer 08. I don't think anyone has posted on his wall since Nov 2007.

It will be really creepy if someone that died last year requested to add you as a friend. That's some White noise type of hysteria.
