THE FLASH - 2016 can't get here fast enough!

I haven't been following the show very closely. What about it do you not want connected to the film universe? Are there specific things that would clash with what we know about the Justice League? Or is it because it is on TV, or strays too far from the comics Green Arrow?

The TV series is enjoyable, but it's really, REALLY cheesy. It can be fixed, though.

So the OTHER big DC news today is that WB is apparently planning a Flash movie for 2016.

No specifics yet but hopefully we'll get some more details tonight or tomorrow. What do you think? Will it be Barry or Wally? What kind of tone should they go for? Who should they cast? What director/writer team could bring the Scarlet Speedster to life?
 Why so far out?????? 2016???? They cant get this done for 2015 at least?? He's not that complicated a character.......he runs fast! Write a good story and cast it....then film it! Geeez!

Warner Bros sux.....

I'm fine if they go the New 52 route, but I don't want to see him in armor no matter what they do, and I don't want the little lines all over him looking distracting or HUGE either if they go the New 52 route, if anyone's seen the New 52 Flash skin in the Injustice game that is about ideal as far as what I'd like a live action New 52 style Flash suit to look like.

Big, heavy looking, treaded gold boots with wrinkles a little above the ankle line are a must, The Flash's colors must be a deep crimson and gold, not red and yellow; the red is deep crimson, and the yellow is gold/metallic looking and shiney. The earpieces are sharp and shiney looking and should look EXACTLY how Ethan Van Sciver draws them, they are not wings and don't have feathers (sorry, Alex Ross), I'd call them door handles before I caled them feathered wings).

Here is a perfect example of what I mean:

^^ That's EXACTLY how the ear pieces should look. Period. They look cool there and they look great.

And take a look at this picture below to see what I mean about how the boots should look:

Epic, right? ^^

And finally, I just posted this because I think it would make a fantastic poster for the movie, on the area that Barry Allen is covered by the lightning bolt (but sub the "Z" lightning for Zoom (aka Professor Thawne/"Reverse Flash") out for the actual Flash logo of course, then you have a perfect poster  ), he appears in his Flash uniform. Sums up the whole character pretty perfectly:

Material wise, the suit needs to be very different from a lot of things we have seen before; it must shine, but not look like Spider-Man spandex, but it also has to be "durable" looking like it's made from an actual "scientific" material if you know what I mean.

You hit on all the points!

if they focused all of their energy on a feature film instead of doing both a tv show and a film, they'd be better for it. cast barry, have him on arrow then make the movie.

This is the New 52 Flash skin from the Injustice game. It's not bad, I'd just tone the additional lines down a bit more, they can be a bit distracting and make the suit look entirely too busy in some images and detract from the overall suit design; the greatness and beauty and overall genius of The Flash's design is in its simplicity, he should not look like he is a puzzle.

These designs aren't bad, but I'd tone down the lines a bit so he doesn't look like a puzzle and ditch the chin strap if they go the NEW 52 suit route. I hate the chin strap.

if a flash movie comes out in 2016, this could be good. I would want two different actors playing Flash though, because I'm sure the Flash suit will suck, its CW, and the writing will be cheesy like Arrow, and the effects will look cheap

Hopefully it's as good as their first Green Lantern draft was and they keep whoever ****ed that movie up away from this. Also hope they make a better show than Arrow...hopefully they'll have got a lot of the "Smallville" out of their systems by the time it comes to take a crack at The Flash.

Geoff Johns?

I'd rather Greg Berlanti have directed the Green Lantern movie than Martin Campbell. Berlanti seemed to have got the character from the first draft I read.

Is it really gonna be both a film and a TV show? I rather see them focusing on the former.
Offer Walter Hill the chair :)

He's always about criminal corporations and bad guys. Take a look at Bullet To The Head. It feels like it has several villains (but working together) and it also has a police angle to it. Just transfer that recipe to Flash, but make it a better film for heaven's sake. BTTH sucked.

Berlanti is also developing a Flash movie for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, with sources telling THR that the feature is being eyed for 2016. Berlanti will direct and pen the screenplay alongside Chris Brancato, Michael Green, Johns and Guggenheim.

'Flash' Series From 'Arrow' Producers in the Works at CW

LOL wut.

Unlikely.

(Berlanti's "people" are their source, trying to drum up interest in their client.)

The Flash tv show on CW is going to suck so hard. Thanks WB, you suck and I hate you. Just when i thought they were getting it together... the special effects are going to be so ******, the costume is going to be ******, the acting also ******. God. Flash should've been a movie, not a ****** tv show on the CW

This guy has seen the show already apparently

A TV show could be great, yeah. I really like Arrow and I think a Flash TV series would be nice. Since Marvel is getting Quicksilver in TWO different movies, WB needs to get Flash out there as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man and Doctor Strange get their own movies.

'Flash' Writers Preview the CW's Newest Superhero

The character will appear in episodes eight, nine and 20, with the latter serving as a back-door pilot for the project.

Johns reiterated that the Justice League member will be seen as the Flash -- complete with his trademark red costume and not a poor imitation. Added Kreisberg: "No sweat suits or strange code names; he will be The Flash."

My first reaction was everyone else's. Why a show instead of a movie? But then I thought; at least WB are actually going to do something with The Flash instead of shelving him year after year. At least they have came out and said he will be called The Flash and have the classic costume. That's enough to get me a little more excited about it.

And The Flash is a character I can actually see working for a TV series. Theirs a lot you can do with The Flash as far as stories go, and not have a crazy budget for them.

As a Flash fan, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with him.

Nice little dig at Smallville's producers, who at the time weren't legally allowed to use 'The Flash' as a moniker due to the character's feature development at Warner Bros. (yep, that ole' Goyer script).

It's suddenly OK for Johns and co. to use him here...and develop a feature film.

Hmm...I smell something from Warner Bros...and it ain't cheese.

I agree, I am happy we are seeing SOMETHING done with him.

the lines on the new 52 costume look great when Brian Buccellato draws it. It comes across as electricity, not...lines.

But only when he draws it.

Too many other artists make the lines too thick.

Can't be bothered to watch Arrow but I am totally there for Flash. I LOVED the 90's TV series.

WTF is DC doing with this character? Flash in Arrow, a Flash movie & possibly a Flash show; is Arrow apart of the DCCU or is DC just stupid?

I was down on this earlier, but after all the articles I've seen aout this, I'm officially excited. There is a lot of potential for Flash on tv. The 90s series proves that, and obviously tv has changed a lot for the better since then.

If The Flash will have his regular costume, I hope they do it right and it doesn't look cheap look Arrow's suit.

The Flash suit from the 90s was actually so good, I hope the new suit can look even better though. I hope the rogues keep their costumes too.

Villains i want to see throughout the series

Gorilla Grodd
Professor Zoom
Captain Cold
Mirror Master
Weather Wizard
The Trickster
Murmur
Captain Boomerang
Heat Wave
Black Flash

I like the idea of The Flash being a series, you can introduce all those villains that way, whereas in a movie you wouldn't be able to properly focus on all of them. Aaaand, they can develop the speed force more in a series, they can really develop the legacy aspect of the character too...

I want to see Wally, Iris, maybe Jay Garrick
