The Flash TV Show?

I don't have high hopes for this. I dont' like either Arrow or Smallville.

It was. They even made a test reel, but nothing came of it.

Seriously? That's pretty cool. I've still never seen the Mercy Reef pilot. That's what it was called right? The Aquaman pilot with Justin Hartley as Arthur? Still wish that would've at least got on air

But I'm willing to bet you watch them. Never understand how people can watch stuff they hate. I hated parts of Smallville but loved it enough to stay entertained and engaged. I couldn't sit and watch something I hate. Ya just turn it off and go about your life

they had two live action versions of Clark running around and no one lost an eye.

By the time Superman Returns came out, Smallville had already been running for 5 years and was well established. It's not as if they started developing the show and the movie around the same time. Smallville was also NOT about Superman or TITLED "Superman", if you remember. All 10 seasons were about the road to becoming Superman, and we only ever saw him in costume at the very end. This proposed Flash series would be quite different.

Furthermore, while no one "lost an eye", WB lost their Superman movie franchise when SR became a disappointment.

They haven't exactly confirmed it will be titled The Flash. Just that he'll be called The Flash. And given the fact that Superman has his powers from birth it just lends itself to a coming of age story more than any other DC character really. Maybe aside from Aquaman. Barry is a full grown adult when he obtains his powers. Don't understand how a coming of age story would work there. Maybe for Bart, but not Barry.

I'm am so excited about this. Not only because of my love for The Flash (Barry) but I also prefer TV as a storytelling medium to movies.

What they need to make it not suck though is, as with all the CW shows is that they all look dark. Ever notice that? Bat cinematography, bad lighting, I don't know what, but everything looks dark and like a set.

A show like Flash needs to be bright, bold, dynamic. I hate to trod on the same ground again, but CSI Miami, Hawaii 5.0, Burn Notice, Graceland all have a great look that they bring to the table. Bright colors, dynamic scenery, the investigation/lab science scenes, even the camera work on these shows always screamed Flash to me.

A couple years ago watching CSI with George Eads always gave me the Flash feel. It's a good looking show, the direction is slick, they made use of the bright neons and lights of the setting to make it look more dynamic, the investigation was well handled. Aside from the hair color I used to wish it was a Flash show. Here's to hoping that CW is smart and doesn't schedule The Flash on a Sunday at 8.00 against The Simpsons like CBS did back in the day and killed a great show (still one of my favorite shows ever).

Yeah, I don't get it either.

which is why I didn't say Superman I said Clark

It wasn't bad, actually. I managed to catch it on Youtube before it was taken down. :word:

I believe it's on iTunes for $1.99.

You should try to find it, I thought it was pretty good. Would have liked to see a show come out of it.

What we need, is a Blue Beetle series. Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned anywhere or at least in development. Especially considering how BB took the forefront in season 2 of Young Justice. Figured they were doing a big push for him. Trying to think of somebody else but everyone I'm thinking of I don't know too much about aside from just who they are. Like, Plastic Man. Cool character, but does he even have any rogues or anything? I was thinking Wildcat too and same thing, does he have villains of his own?

From a few years ago...

For myself, I tried watching SMALLVILLE's first season. Could not stand anything but Michael R. as Lex so I bailed. Would check in from time to time over the course of it's run for and episode or two to see if it had improved in my eyes. It never did. I wanted to like ARROW. Hated the acting of too many on the cast of the pilot but the lead was/is very solid as Ollie, as are most of the "older" actors on the show and the fight choreography is off the chain. But again, episode to episode plots, plus the overall quality of the acting (Did someone at the WB really think that the Dinah actress was compelling or interesting on screen?) mad me bail on this once Deathstroke made his first appearance.

The CW track record, for me, has not been very good when it comes to high concept fantasy projects that require a lot of resources and quality on many levels. If this gets on the air I will watch it initially, but it sure as hell better make me say "I can't believe this is on the CW."

Ok yea agreed on that last bit. But I feel that way about Arrow for the most part. As you said, it's the casting that was really lacking. But IMO everything else is top notch.

I just hope that season 2 of Arrow is more original. Season 1 was just a rip off of Batman Begins and as much as I love the movie, if I wanted to see it then I would just watch the movie...

I agree, I love the show but it's time to step out of Batman's shadow.

For all we know S2 will rip off TDK with the main goal of forcing Oliver to reveal who he is

Season 1: Arrow Begins

Season 2: The Green Arrow

Season 3: The Green Arrow Rises

Season 4: Green Arrow Forever

Season 5: Green Arrow - Weeks Of Future Present

Season 6: Green Arrow - The Sixth Leaguer, Or Eighth, Depending On The Continuity

Season 7: Green Arrow - The Dark World, Not As Dark As Batman's, But Darker Than Superman's, You Know What I Mean?

Too bad they're basing it on Barry. They could've used Wally and made the series a sequel to the 90s series.

That would have been cool! Incidentally, the entire original series of the 1990 Flash television show are available to be watched on You Tube. I'm up to Episode 6 right now.

Buy the DVD, don't be cheap.

Gotta start with Barry in any iteration. Wally being Flash is dependent upon Barry. I never got this whole Wally obsession thing. Barry is by far the better Flash as well as being intelligent enough to carry a procedural or stand toe to toe with like likes of Batman in terms of intelligence.

I like Barry a whole lot, he was THE Flash when I was a child. But I came of age with Wally. I was in high school when Waid did that great fake out story of Zoom coming back as Barry. I came to know Wally and I always thought that a big part of the dramatic grounding of the character was that even though he was happy go lucky, his biggest motivation was living up to the standards of those that came before him. Also, with Barry's death playing into his personal history so much it drove home the message that heroism inherently involves sacrifice. In comics, at least, that's why I prefer Barry to remain deceased. However, when it comes to other adaptations I don't have a big problem with Barry. Though I would love if what we get is actually a well thought out story of a Mentor/Mentee passing of the torch story told over a few seasons. That would be awesome.
