THE FLASH - 2016 can't get here fast enough!

If the suit looked this good in the 90s then I can only imagine how sweet the new costume will be

**** YEAH!!

Well we know they CAN do it and have it be awesome at least.... :o

I was thinking more along the lines of this :

It is a manip concept from a kickstarter fan short of the Flash. Doesn't look like it will get funded, but I hope the suit looks this good.

Op/Ed: THE FLASH Should Connect DC's Movie & TV Universes

http://www.newsarama.com/18525-op-ed-the-flash-should-connect-dc-s-movie-tv-universes.html

This is the scenario that I would like for DC/WB to adapt. It makes perfect sense. Which is probably why they would never go for it!

Amen! It is a different roadmap so I'm not surprised some people don't approve, but I think it's brilliant.

I do agree that once WB/DC agreed to put Batman in MOS II Berlanti's view of Arrow had to change and giving him a Flash tv series probably squelched any serious disagreement.

Regardless, I think a well written Flash series could do much more for the character than a pretty good movie.

I'm actually more excited for a Flash movie than Superman vs Batman tbh... :D
Me too.
Brad bird would definitely get me psyched for a Flash movie.
He's already done a speedster. (The Incredibles)
I feel sad when Marvel is having two Quick silvers in their movie, it kind of reduces Flash's importance, that's what happens when WB just sits on their DC properties.
Agreed. WB seems to be in "react to what Marvel does" mode instead of being proactive and creative. They sat around and pumped out Superman and Batman movies for decades until Marvel came along and showed there was a market for other heroes. Now they may pay the price if Marvel beats them to a super speed character.

Just please, please, PLEASE make it GOOD.
Yes please.

if they're fast tracking it i imagine it's to fit it to the jl film. never was a fan of smallville and arrow doesn't stoke my attention so i can't say i'm excited. i hope i'm wrong though. i just hope they're not doing this to beat quicksilver to live action.
Me too...but I haven't seen anything to make me believe WB/DC is doing anything that isn't a direct reaction to something Marvel is doing.

Like the more serious ASM-Spidey? Or the violent final fight with Green Goblin in the first film?
Yeah, that's upbeat and light stuff :)
Agreed. A lot of people look at costumes and judge everything from that. Spider-Man is darker than Batman.

I know it's just a manip, but Flash's ear pieces need to be lower in that pic...like on his EARS. Other than that, that pic's not bad....just ditch the armor look, please. Armor anything on The Flash is bad.

Like so:

The ear pieces are moved down, and the style has been changed. Also the coloring is darker.

Connecting Arrow, The Flash and Man of Steel would be really nice.

Maybe they could just build a parallel DC TV universe, with different versions of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc.

But WB wouldn't have the balls.

If they do make a Flash tv series I would be more concerned with the quality of the show than it tying into MoS.

^^ Better, I like what you've done with the ear pieces, both in where they're positioned and the way they look, they should not look like wings, Cap wears wings, The Flash does not. The Flash's are closer to "door handles" (as Mark Millar affectionately refers to them. Lol).

I always use this pic as the example of EXACTLY how the ear pieces should look, this is a perfect basis:

flash_van-sciver_3f1.jpg

^^ See how they look shiny and even "sharp", they're streamlined, but they're not "feathered" or "wing" like. That's how they should look, like a "modernized" Carmine Infantino drawing, they're sharp and almost finny looking, very sleek and cool.

Anyway, the pic itself is still a good manip. I would just, again, get rid of some of the "armor" areas where it looks like the suit clearly separates; I'd either omit all that completely or smooth it out (within what you can do as far as manips go, I totally understand that - not expecting Weta workshop looking manips haha ;) ).

But I think as far as the colors go and how the mask looks, you have the right idea. I don't think The Flash needs a "molded" mask a la Batman with a frown or scowl or whatever carved in.

I'd draw more influence from how the red area looks on the Alex Ross' cowl as far as inspiration for the cowl goes:

...But at the same time not have it exactly be just spandex or "tights", perhaps a clash of that and what the materials the cowl the manip is made out of there would be ideal. :D

^^^ Yeah they are working on a more detailed concept for the suit. These were just quick mock ups.

They did good, man. Looking forward to seeing the final result!

Funny... never been a fan of Alex Ross' Flash.

I love Alex Ross' artwork, but I too have issue with his Flash art, even though I really love some of the pics he's drawn of them (some, not all). For instance, I hate how he draws the ear pieces. They have feathers on them and look like wings. It just looks dumb. That's Captain America's shtick, not The Flash's (least not the "iconic" version). I just posted the Ross Flash pic for the cowl reference, I think the cowl itself (sans ear pieces) is very good in THAT particular pic.

1) Brilliant villains (second only to Spider-Man and Batman)
2) The Flash legacy (Jay, Barry, Wally, Bart).
3) Great supporting cast.
4) Cosmic treadmill - time travel potential, back in time for Jay, forward in time for Bart
5) Speed Force

I think this is a GREAT idea (and this is coming from a Spider-Man fan).
Also I think Flash should be colourful and joyous but if they want to go realistic and gritty I'm okay with it if done well.

All great points of what makes Flash such a great character for TV and why the possibilities are endless when it comes to his world. I'm also not too worried of how they'll handle Barry's personality as they noted the differences between he and Ollie.

To me, I guess the problem is that the Flash is possibly the most dynamic character in comics; he's pure ''speed'' and movement, but Ross' style isn't dynamic at all, imo.
That's why I'd love to see the Flash painted by Gabriel Del'Otto.

I see what you're saying with that, actually. Most of Alex Ross' pics are very "stop and take it all in" ish and less "pizzazz".

They said he wouldn't be like super dark and "intense" I guess....and that to me is a good thing. I want them to capture the "everyman" and "down to earth-ness" of The Flash (which I think the new Flashpoint movie did a good job of).

I haven't seen Flashpoint yet but totally agree. That's what I'm hoping for in the personality department.

Exactly. He takes some beautiful photos, but that's it.
Now imagine something as kinetic as this shot for the Flash:

They should enhance the Flash costume with CG as it's supposed to be made of pure Speed Force. Doesn't have to be enhance when Flash is stationary but when he is in motion it should shimmer.

Just make a light-hearted and colorful eye-candy film for everybody in the family to enjoy. Don't have any violence, don't give the character depth, just make it fun.

I will agree to this if Warner got Ivan Reitman to direct. Then maybe Bill Murray or Dan Aykroyd will play a villain.

I disagree, the violence I saw on TV superhero shows as a kid is what made the episodes memorable.

50 % irony from me, sorry.
Why? Because a number of people seem to want Flash as a light hero.
