I really hate that new Garrick outfit.

I hate it too to busy.Modernizing Jay Garrick's costume that much doesn't seem right for the character.

Yeah if they really wanted to modernize it than I think making it 1950's or even 70's esque would've been the way to go, as it is the new costume makes Barry's 52 duds look old school.

I prefer something old maybe not something else

There seems to be some confusion about Jay Garrick's helmet being a WWI military helmet with wings attached. I've heard and/or read this a number of times and it is wrong. The helmet worn by Jay Garrick is based on the head piece adorning the Messenger God on Giovanni Da Bologana's statue of Mercury which was created in 1580.

The statue is also the inspiration for the FTD floral company logo.

Yes, seriously, I honestly think the way people make fun of it is more than a little immature. It's a WWI helmet, it's not silly, it's bad*** in that old school way.

It's actually modeled after the ancient Greek god Mercury's helmet.

Always thought that was kinda obvious, even when I was a kid. Staggered that anyone would think anything but. WW1 helmet??!

No kidding. I'm not sure whether to be flummoxed, or depressed at the decline of civilization.

geez, I made that post awhile ago and got corrected then, except in a semi-respectful manner. It was a simple mistake made because it bears some resemblance to a WWI helmet, but thanks for reminding me how many ****heads there are on this site, the way some members treat people for making simple mistakes is just wonderful.

Like sharks smell blood in the water!

How did we get to discussing Jay Garrick's costume again?

I'm guessing most of you have watched the pilot. Did you guys notice
the white circle on the logo of the Flash's costume in that future newspaper clipping at the end
or is it just me?

It was literally the first thing talked about when people saw the pilot.

Actually you were right. In the comics, Jay took his father's WW1 helmet and painted it silver and added wings to honor his father.

Thought I remembered reading that in one of the comics, do you remember which issue that was addressed in?
