The Flash The Flash Costume Thread

I am tired of people posting manips, like if it would look the same in real life. You people need to get over it. I like the costume, it's something new, remindes me of aviators and aircrew men from WW2. Also the dark red looks better in real life environments. I just don't get people obsessing for brighter colors for real life adaptions of Super Heroes.

I think the average movie goer likes bright color uniforms that the more popular movies have put forth.

Honestly I don't like the costume. I hate that Superman and now Flash think that in order to reach a large audience you have to "darken" and mute all the vibrant colors of the comics. For the most part Marvel seems not to suffer from this train of thought as much as the DC crowd does.

Another issue I have is with the actor himself. He has absolutely ZERO I mean ZERO muscle tone. I'm not looking for Hemsworth transformation but could he at least look like he doesn't need two hands to grab a gallon of milk out the fridge!

I understand he can't look like the comics, and I'm alright with that but maybe a totally new direction could have happened than what did. I do not like the hipster Flash in skinny jeans fighting crime.

I would have even support a new radical look like belpw:

Yeesh...well that look's not cool. Looks like Spider-Flash in the face.

But at least the solid areas of the suit look better than psuedo-steampunk Flash.

(Actually even legit steampunk Flash would be better than the Gustin suit! :lmao: )

When we get Zoom in costume, hopefully he'll look more modern and streamlined.

Yes. Where the audience, that has paid to see a superhero movie, that knows what a superhero is, that expects to see a superhero in a superhero movie, actually gets a superhero in a superhero movie instead of a superhero trying to hide and disguise itself and pretend it's not a superhero in the superhero movie - it's almost insulting to the audience. The superhero suits need to embrace their looks instead of trying to downplay them and be ashamed of them, as if the audience doesn't know what a superhero is.

I'm so tired hearing people with zero understanding of running physiques criticizing Gustin's build.

It wasn't due to Flash's musculature that enabled him to run fast. Flash could have had the build of zach galifianakis and still be the fastest man alive. Most people envision a strong masculine physique when they think about a superhero where his power stems from his body and not energy or mind powers. If we went the way of reality and the way ones musculature would actually respond, Superman would look like this because he really wouldn't be able to build muscle with resistance training. Muscle is built due to extraordinary exertion not from cosmic powers.

I shudder to think what they'll do with Thawne. You already know there's no way they're doing the yellow....that's "not kewl enough" on it's own, that's pretty much a given.... I guess if they're not doing that then it doesn't really matter too much what they do with it anyway. Lol.

False. The yellow sun keeps his body in peak physical form.

Never heard that before but even so peak physical form would still be more of a slender type (think Bruce Lee with a Superman suit on) then and not what we typically see from comics and movies sans both Reeves as they weren't very muscular.

I was surprised by the suit, actually. It looks a lot better than I expected. I don't mind that its a bit darker. The original Flash show had a darker color for its suit as well. Time will tell whether or not I get on board though. I just can't get into Arrow at all, so... *shrugs*

Can't blame you...Arrow is immensely boring and pretentious, 10 minutes of action in a Batmanized GA suit with a Batman-lite Ollie Queen and 40 minutes of soap opera fluff that takes itself entirely too seriously, never stopping to smile (as real life goes), so seriously it's almost a borderline parody of itself at times. Yeah I can't really get into the show, either. I think most the people worshipping it either don't watch a lot of movies, are unfamiliar with the DC animated adaptations and the GA of the comics, or are so desperate for a comic based show, a DC show, that they'll accept anything and are projecting how awesome they wish it were onto it rather than seeing it for what it actually is.

Just my two cents on Arrow I know I'll catch hell for. :D

It varies from person to person in this instance, it's not far fetched to think he'd be the size he is. Captain America is supposedly a physically perfect human being, it's not a stretch to imagine Superman might have a physique similar to Steve.

George Reeves was in okay shape for the show, and Chris Reeve was in great shape for when he played Superman, he was a very, very big man in real life - he was solid. I thought he had a good build for Superman.

Cap is in "Comics" physical perfection lol, I was referring to what a person in reality would look like in peak physical perfection. Think of a person who does triathlons, martial arts or something, those are the people whose body in reality is pretty much in peak physical perfection without the addition of extreme weight resistance training. Muscles do not form like what Cap has due to high cardio or endurance training.

Chris Reeves had a good build and I'll buy that as physical perfection due from some weird sun chemistry.

Bottom line is still that the Flash actor looks amazing weak to be portraying a Superhero as known as the flash. He has the build to play Spider-man but definitely not Flash. Even the Old Flash was portrayed as a Rock Hudson kind of barrel chested dude.

Or.......they have a different opinion than you do.

My wife and I love to watch ARROW....and we are not teenagers (I'm in my 50's, she's in her 40's), we have watched thousands of movies (I post about the great number of movies I manage to watch every month in several threads), we are very familiar with all the DC animated adaptations (I've always loved animation and superheroes, so I own just about everything in the genre released on DVD), And we are not "desperate" for any show. I happen to have a personal DVD library of thousands of movies and TV shows that currently includes just about every single superhero related show out there (most are the studio released DVDs, with many others being discs burned by me to DVD because the studio hasn't released them yet). If I sat down and only rewatched what I already own, I wouldn't need to watch a new show for years.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about whether they like or dislike a show or movie.....there is absolutely no call for putting them down because they have a different opinion.

Yeah... i've got NO hope for the Zoom costume...

Oh and the new Flash suit is still trash. Complete trash. What a travesty.

One of the worst costumes for a mainstream character that I've ever seen.

Trash.

Me and my wife watch Arrow because basically Ill watch pretty much anything comic book based. I'll support them because hopefully if execs see more people watching, they'll invest more money and then thats when a better product will come along. The acting in Arrow is actually better than alot of other non comic based shows out on TV right now. I mean that have Dr. Moon, Riversong, Crixus, and Dreseden thats alot for SciFi fans right there :P

I do dislike the soap oprea stuff in the show but I'm guessing its trying to broaden the appeal to general TV audience. I HATE I MEAN HATE reality shows but they in the top ratings every week so I'm pretty sure I have no clue on what most people like :P

All of Alex Ross's characters look like that. I'm actually glad that we get some different body builds. Not everyone should look the same. Especially when pure muscle strength isn't what Flash relies on. He can't hit you around half the globe because of his muscles. It's the speed force he relies on, to perform such feats of strengths.

What i think needs to happen is that Comic based shows need to either nut up and say "This is a SUPERHERO SHOW DAMMIT!!" or say this is a Sci-Fi show with comic book elements. Put the skin tight suit on. There is no reason in our everyday reality that a person would get an extraordinary power and decide to stitch up a spandex tight suit and throw it on and then put his underwear with a belt on the outside and say "Now thats a BaddA$$ dude right there!!" We accept this on comic based shows because it is what they do in comics. We accepted Superman in his outfit tights and all. I want Cap with a star on his chest, I want Wolverine to wear a crazy yellow and blue spandex outfit with batwings on his mask, I want every superhero woman to be sexy as hell and fight bad guys in high heels and french cut thongs. I am COMIC BOOK FAN. I can say that...now the shows should say it as well.

Yeah...I just don't get the appeal of the show.

I like this.

I like the traditional but really appreciate the more practical yet stylish modern aesthetic in use by Man of Steel, Arrow, and now Flash.
