The Flash The Flash Costume Thread

The suit is growing on me the more I see it, except for the belt and the pants, they should be tighter or a different material than leather. But I really like the top half.

Same here. I'd still like to see a white background to the Flash insignia, but I'm really liking the suit from the waist up. The belt kind looks like an amateur hour affair but perhaps that is intentional. I think making the gloves and gauntlets one piece would be a cleaner look. Barry is however a forensic scientist, not a Hollywood seamstress, so perhaps( with others helping him ) a slicker more refined look can come later.

Looks like the second group of set pics show more flattering poses from flattering angles, unless the suit has just been growing on me.

Either way, I am starting to like the suit a little more. The only thing that kinda bugs me is the leather pants (I do like the leather on the jacket for some reason), and the lackluster belt.
It's growing on me a little bit too

Man in those running pose pics, the suit looks even better. Thats the Flash! :D

Why on Earth didn't they release an image like this:

grant-gustin-flashes-into-action-04.jpg

instead of the Sinestro Flash official picture.

It honestly makes me wonder how certain people have the jobs they do. But whatever, it's small potatoes. 99% of the audience will get their first glimpse of The Flash in a TV commercial if this show gets picked up.

Not sold on the suit but I can dig that pic. Very Flash like. Probably the best shot of the suit as well, where it looks the best.

I approve this post. I think that if people realized that all of the comic book movies and TV shows that are coming out now and have come out before are adaptations and not literal translations, they'd enjoy them more or at least be less outraged.

That's what happened with me. I used to be like Kev, where I thought that superhero movie costumes have to be EXACTLY like the comics, period. Took me a while, but I came to accept that costume designers and anyone else who has a hand in the movies are going to leave their mark and interpretation of superhero costumes in the movies. Just how it is, and I'm fine with that now.

I hated the Batman suits from TDKT when I first saw pics of them. Avoided the movies when they came out because of that. When I saw the first pic of Henry Cavill in the MOS suit, it helped make me change my stance on movie versions of superhero suits. I accepted it, and was even able to later watch TDKT with an open mind (the suits weren't the only problems I had initially with the Batman movies) and ENJOYED the hell out those films. I just had to accept that filmakers are not going to make superhero costumes (or characters, for that matter) 100% faithful to the comics. Hell, for me it's actually got to the point to where I don't even want the movie suits to be like the comic suits. As long at the basic elements of the costumes are present, I'm good.

I don't think they have to be JUST like the suits from the comic, 100%, all the time, period, slight deviations and the amount of them I'm willing to accept depend on the character and how great their costume is to begin with, The Flash is one of the ones who's easily in the top 5 best costume designs for a superhero ever and needs the LEAST amount of tweaking for live action.

I agree that this is not a comic book tv show. this show appears to be a sci fi show loosely based on the Flash comic book. I am a comic book/movie fan so I will watch this show to support the genre. That being said, I have yet to see any great success from only loosely based comic book adaptions. Look at all the monetary success Marvel seems to have with their line of Comic based movies. I want the comic genre to prosper and I have serious doubts on media projects that treat comic book culture like they're a guy who was just caught out on a movie date by one of his buddies with a chubby girl he really likes, and feels embarrassed. Thats what CW seems to do while Marvel movies seem to slap that chubby girl on the butt and say "I'll get the popcorn and you go get our seat, boo!"

Sorry he still looks too anorexic to play Flash convincingly. All serious actors are able to get into a certain shape for a role.

I like the idea of a slim flash. He isn't super strong, he's super fast so having a slim figure would add to that

That... is a seriously stupid post you just made there, because Gustin DID get into a certain shape for the role.

Gustin's build is perfect for one simple reason, he actually looks like a runner, and I would love to see builds like this become more common in the comics.

his build is actually bigger than that of some Olympic level distance runners

I agree that I would have LOVED to see a traditional Batman suit but at least TDKT gave us valid reasons to change the suit. The armor and the all black lent easily to the mythos of batman. The Corinthian leather Flash look, to me at this point seems to clash with the idea of the scarlet speedster.

I totally agree in real life that would be true but again that's why I say this is not a comic book TV show but rather a simple SciFi show loosely based on a comic book. This is not the Flash and I can live with that.

I've always been fine with a thin Flash, GL, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Spider-Man

Name calling aside, you must have not read the last few pages of this subject matter. Please take the time to update yourself on the point I was trying to make and come back if you still have any questions with my post.

I'm aware of the last few pages, and I think you have as little a point now as I thought you did then. yeah, Gustin doesn't have the absurd comic build Flash is sometimes depicted with, instead he has a build that I think screams Flash more than his actual build in the comics, because it fits the character far better, and I'm gonna call out stupidity when terms like anorexic are used to describe his build, he's lean and toned, without bulky muscle. And I think for the most part the GA will understand the build as well.

Ok so you were not a fan of the way Flash was traditionally depicted in the comic books. I can understand then how this long distance runner look would appeal to you.

You do know you have just spoke utter Bollocks here, right?

Hyperbole maybe, bollocks nope

Bottom line is I think the guy doesn't strike me as a heroic character in any way. I don't see the series being successful due to creative decisions demonstrated this far. Like I said I'll watch it but I wish it would been handled in the same manner as most successful comic TV/movies.

I don't know why they didn't make the suit all from the same material. It probably would've made for a more cohesive costume.
