We've got more cool release news for you guys today...
According to Video Business, Sony has set the most overly-promoted film ever, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, for release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on 5/12 (SRP $28.96 and $39.95). Extras will include audio commentary, 3 featurettes (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - From Script to Screen, The Origin of the Feud and Re-Creating the Dark Ages - The Look of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) and William Control's Deathclub music video. The Blu-ray will also add a Behind the Castle Walls PiP track, a Lycanthropes Around the World interactive map, and BD-Live downloads and Cinechat. I think for a while there, every commercial brake on Sci-Fi Channel had a Lycans promo.
Video Business also has a good piece on Warner's upcoming release of Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace and Music - Ultimate Collector's Edition, set to be released on both DVD and Blu-ray on 6/9 (SRP 59.98 and $69.98). A whopping TWO HOURS of new material, featuring 18 performances by 13 band and artists, has been added to the original film's running time for this release.
Speaking of Warner, the studio has just set Body Heat for Blu-ray release on 4/7. It's already available on DVD.
In other release news, 20th Century Fox has just revealed that 24: Season 7 will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on 5/19 (SRP $49.98 and $69.99). Extensive audio commentaries will be available, along with scores of deleted scenes and multiple featurettes, however it does not currently appear that the Redemption TV movie will be included. (We'll let you know for sure as soon as we can confirm this one way or the other.) Also coming on both formats that day is Driven to Kill. Meanwhile, Fox's Predator 2 will finally arrive on Blu-ray on 6/9, complete with extensive features from the DVD. The Siege will street on Blu-ray on 6/9 as well. Hopefully, the original Predator will be re-released on Blu-ray with the previous DVD special features at some point.
I believe we've mentioned these previously, but Buena Vista has officially set The Greatest Game Ever Played for DVD and Blu-ray release on 6/16. Also coming that same day are Blu-ray versions of Lost: The Complete First Season, Lost: The Complete Second Season, Miracle and Sling Blade, all of which are already available on DVD.
And Universal has set Smother for DVD release on 5/5.
Hey... we wouldn't leave you with this news without offering a little cover art, right? So here's Fox's 24 (both formats) and Predator 2, along with Buena Vista's Sling Blade and both seasons of Lost on Blu-ray...
