finally some news about Heat , also looking forward to Gremlinsand Goonies

Well I know a Heat videogame was in production but I don't know what the status of that is right now I always assumed they were delaying for that reason. Also if anyone was interested in The Silence of the Lambs it is already down to $14.99 on Amazon.com. Definitely in my top 100 movies of all-time.

Well I did pick up Silence of the lambs , excellent movie. I did go with buying the Matrix collection and enjoyed the sequels alot better this time around . Also the picture quality is fantastic. I saw a clip of Matrix reloaded on tv last nite , so that was a good comparison.

I just picked up 20 Million Miles To Earth,Big Fish,James Bond Volume 1,and Casino Royale.Might pick Up James Bond Volume 2 sometime today.

More Canadian Alliance Blu-ray titles announced for 6/2/09.

Netflix Shakes Down Blu-ray Renters... Again!
March 30, 2009

Netflix subscribers got a nastygram in their inboxes today when they received notice that, beginning April 27th, they would be charged anywhere from $1 to $9 extra a month for access to Blu-ray titles. Those who opt for the $4.99/mo plan (1 movie at a time/2 per month max) will pay an extra $1, while those who enjoy the $47.99/mo plan (8 movies at a time/unlimited per month) pay a hefty $9 over their normal monthly fee.

Many readers will recall that this isn't the first time Netflix has charged premiums to their subscribers who prefer Blu-ray. Back in October, the popular web-based movie renter announced that they would charge subscribers an extra $1 per month for access to Blu-ray titles, regardless of plan. Their reasoning then was the same as it is today - Blu-ray titles cost them more to buy, so they are passing that charge to you.

What they fail to mention, however, is Blu-ray discs (with their scratch resistant coating) have a longer shelf life than their DVD counterparts, so any long term additional costs are yet to be determined. That they can announce such changes in the shadow of a down economy and while benefiting from ever increasing profits and membership numbers is, well, astounding to say the least.

Netflix's main rival, Blockbuster, does not charge their members for renting Blu-ray titles while maintaining a similar rental scheme. There was a time when the color blue was seen as superior to red. Is history now repeating itself?

:cmad: :down

I don't rent Blu-ray's at all anymore but yeah thats lame. Wonder if it was a decision strictly based on how bad the economy is doing.

Yeah, I got this email yesterday from Netflix. Since I get the 4 at a time and pay the 3 at a time price I get dinged $5.00. So now I am paying 21.99 a month for Blu-Ray's. If it goes up again, I will probably go back to standard dvd with renting.

This news about Netflix sucks. I mean, seriously, $4 bucks for Blu-ray's...ugh. If it goes up again, I too, will stick with standard DVD's.

Just always buy then if you dont like it just head over to the trade/sell forum over at Blu-ray.com. Works for me. :)

I can't blind buy a DVD anymore and since Blu-Rays are more expensive, I really can't blind buy to much, so renting is the only option for now.

That would end up costly in the long run since I usually Netflix movies 3 at a time and turn them over usually once a week so that's 12 movies a month multiplied by an average price of around $23, that would end up costing like a little under $300 bucks. Then the hassle of waiting for someone to trade, etc...just doesn't seem financially sound to me. Netflix is (was) only costing me like $20 a month. Now it will be around $23...not a big difference but a difference nonetheless.

I find LG to be decent, but always been a Samsung man myself for LCDs. Sony too, but they're rather pricey. You might be able to find a better price on that LG somewhere besides Best Buy

Well I got my Best Buy store card. No interest for two years. I'm probably going to go with the Samsung I been researching. The LN40A650. But the problem with that TV is the speakers and I don't have the room size for a home theater system right now, so I have to live with the TV speakers until I move out next year. But it shouldn't be bad since the room isn't that big. Medium sized. I was trying to see what people thought of LG.

Yeah. I get 2 at a time with Netflix and 3 dollars extra is ridic..I may just change to regular DVDS right now.

Well I didn't say it would save you money but its about sending a message. If Netflix loses enough subscribers to this they will realize charging more for Blu-ray renters is wrong and have no choice but to go back to what they were charging before.

I got that nice little email yesterday. Needless to say, I'm pretty ticked.

I already didn't like the fact that I had to pay an extra dollar. Now they are wanting me to pay 3 dollars extra for my 2-at-a-time plan.

I refuse to do that. I'm just going back to the standard dvds.
