Still holding off on Watchmen until they release the massive extended cut.

 I thought they are. I mean isn't that the 3 hours and 10 minutes long director's cut?

There will be another release, according to Snyder, in the fall. It will be the 3 hour and 10 minutes of live action cut together with the animated Black Freighter. All together around 3 hours and 40 minutes or so I believe.

That sounds annoying to be honest. I will stick with the Blu-ray that comes out in a month.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory BD in October

Warner Home Video has revealed that it will release 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory ' (that is, the 1971 version starring Gene Wilder) on Blu-ray on October 20. No specifics on the edition details have been given, other than it will include a 38-page exclusive booklet, which indicates a DigiBook edition.

It is expected that the 2005 version, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp (which is already out in Europe), will be released at the same time.

Happy Birthday Blu-ray!
Three years ago today, the first Blu-ray titles were released into the wild, marking the beginning of the Blu-ray revolution. While the format was slow out of the gate, it quickly picked up momentum as consumers realized the benefits of high definition over standard DVD. Those of you who proudly display a copy of 'Terminator', 'Underworld Evolution', or 'Hitch' in your collection can claim ownership of a piece of Blu-ray history. While the format has come a long way, there is still a long way to go.

As Sony has recently shown us, with their MovieIQ real-time film database, the advantages of BD-Java and BD-Live, and how they allow the Blu-ray format to continuously evolve to consumer demands. This not only allows Blu-ray to be viable high definition delivery system now, but also allows it to remain a relevant format well into the future.

So call a bunch of friends and family over to your house, put in your favorite Blu-ray title, and join us as we wish Blu-ray a very Happy Birthday!

wow three years already, how the time flies. My first Blu-Ray was THE PRESTIGE, bought in Spring 2007. Anyone else recall theirs?

Same title here. :cwink:

And on another note there is another deal going at WBshop.com.

There is a coupon WATCH3 that allows you to pre-order Watchmen and gives you Tales of the Black Freighter for only $5.

BUT...there seems to be a stackable coupon available (I don't know for how long and it works for random titles) 783A42xp that allows you to get a movie for FREE with this Watchmen deal. I know Creepshow works with it and the total adds up to around $30 shipped. :)

My first Blu-rays were the crappy version of "Spider-Man 3" that came free with the PS3 and "Across the Universe", February 16, 2008.

Here's a fun little look back to that moment:

imdaly Buys PS3, Blu-ray: Format War Officially Over
February 16, 2008

In the latest bit of bad news to the format, HD DVD's biggest ally in the format war has officially proclaimed it's support of Blu-ray.

Paramount? No.
Universal?? No.
Toshiba??? No.

Ladies and Gentleman, SHH poster "imdaly" has indeed jumped onto the Blu-ray vehicle.

The war is over.

Adding insult to injury, the player he decided to buy was in fact the Sony Playstation 3, a gaming console belonging to the very brand of game systems he as time and time again sworn to never own.

Upon reluctantly purchasing his Playstation 3, he also purchased the Blu-ray "Across the Universe", and has immediately ordered "LOST: Season 3", "Ratatoille", and "Spider-Man 3"...all on Blu-ray.

We've contacted "imdaly" to ask what he thought about his dark, dark day. An eerie silence surrounded him, and all he was able to mutter was "I can't even recognize myself anymore. I'm a shell of who I once was. I've sold my soul to the devil."

"imdaly" has assured us that he has no plans to get rid of his HD DVD player and nearly 100 HD DVDs, claiming that they still work just as well as the ever did, still have better feature, and, besides...the red cases still look better."

My first HD DVDs were "King Kong" which came with the XBOX 360 HD DVD player I bought on November 12, 2006 and "Corpse Bride".

Ironically, I've STILL never seen "King Kong"...

I'm assuming by "Pirates 1 & 2" that you mean "Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2" and not the other "Pirates" movies? ;)

I remember my first blu-ray movie. Ratatouille, it was a Christmas present and I didn't even have a blu-ray player :)

lol...I actually had to look up what you meant by those other "Pirate" movies. lol. And no, it's not the porn or softcore porn version of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but the actual Pirates of the Caribbean movies. :woot::oldrazz:

I got into Blu-ray last August and my first Blu-ray was Nightmare Before Christmas. 10 months later and now I have 66 Blu-rays. It's been been a pretty awesome year for home entertainment.

I was, but for some reason I think the director's cut coming out in July will be the best version of the movie. Having Black Freighter edited into the movie may be cool, but it just seems like it will mess up the flow of the movie. I hope I'm wrong though. It has potential to be a great experience and would gladly buy it if it works out well. Won't bother me owning both versions of the movie since one will be a totally different experience than the other.

I'm going with the July edition. While reading the graphic novel I certainly understood the inclusion of the Black Freighter story, and what it meant in terms of the rest of the story, but right now I don't feel like its a necessity. Plus, I'm impatient

I was gonna wait until the Black Freighter cut, but if say Best Buy or somewhere does a "Buy Watchmen blu-ray, get Black Freighter blu-ray for cheap" deal, I'll probably go for it.

Same here. I wouldn't mind picking up Black Freighter for cheap. I may try that deal Red posted above.

Yeah it sounds like that WBshop deal is right up your alley. Pre-order Watchmen and get Black Freighter for $5. Plus you get a free Blu-ray along with it with that coupon code if it still works so I really have no idea why you guys are even contemplating it. 3 Blu-rays for around $30-$40.

Do you guys think that the Watchmen edition with the game will be available in Europe as well?

I will probably give it a try, how is the shipping with WBShop, fast?

Well it looks like they ship when the last pre-order is available but ive heard people get movies sooner so maybe if u juss e-mail them or call they might ship some faster.

Well, I took advantage of that deal from WBShop. Got Watchmen, Black Freighter, and Inkheart for $30.70 shipped. Not bad, that's about 10 bucks each.

Not bad?? Thats a ****in awesome deal...lol.

lol...well yeah, but an awesome deal would have been like buy Watchmen and get Black Freighter and a movie of your choice free. :oldrazz: Ok, ok, I'm pushing it I know. lol. But yes, it's a great deal.
