They shot F13th '09 in Texas, I believe. Can't remember exactly where, but $20 million is still too much.

They can easily crank this movie out for October 2017. It will take a month or two, tops, to film it. And then post-production won't take long either due to the low budget.

As another forum member pointed out, Paramount regularly pushed out one new Friday film a year in the 1980s, as did Lionsgate with their Saw movies. Hell, filming for the latter took place in the spring and were able to finish the film in time for Halloween.

However, knowing how wishy washy they have been about this particular project in general, I expect a lot of changes being made and the production butting heads a little. It is certainly "possible" they could get this in theaters by October, however they don't make movies like they did in the 80's so its not as easy as it used to be. Its a totally different beast now.

UMMI is currently submitting Caucasian male actors who are identical twins and age 12, for the role of Young Jason for feature film “Friday the 13th, Part 13”. Shooting will take place in Atlanta from March to May 2017.

SYNOPSIS: The 13th installment in the iconic franchise. Although the specific logline is being kept under wraps, this version is a unique retelling of the origin story.

A dark, ominous child, who has severe psychological issues. Must have a very electric and expressive face (you will be painting the scene with your facial expressions), as this role does not speak. YOUNG JASON will grow into the pyscho-killer JASON. SUPPORTING ROLE. MUST BE ATLANTA BASED.

Yup. Exactly what I said on the previous page. This is the farthest along they've come with a F13 film since the reboot. Fingers crossed, this is happening people.

Yeah, Bloody Disgusting is also reporting that they are casting for Elias Voorhees.

The casting call is seeking a “powerful-looking” male Caucasian in his late 30s-50s, and it describes Elias as a park ranger who works in the vicinity of Camp Crystal Lake. It goes on to mention that he “sees the wickedness in Jason and the effects it has on Pamela,” eventually leaving them but continuing to be a park ranger nearby.

Yeah all stuff we covered on the previous page. I hate the idea of seeing Jason's dad but I love that fact that the idea for Elias Voorhees showing up was an original idea Tom McLaughlin had for the end Jason Lives. He wanted to end the film with that as a twist but Frank Mancuso Jr declined it.

No strong word on what the exact story will be but it will be an origin story that will supposedly focus more on Pamela Voorhees, and we will get at least a glimpse of his father Elias Voorhees. We will see Jason in the hockey mask, that much has also been confirmed.

I don't mind them delving more into Jason's history/childhood, but I don't know how I feel about a film that's largely origin themed.

I don't think it would go down well. At the end of the day fans want Jason action. By all means delve into his back story, but don't make it the predominant focus of the movie.

My worry is that it will go in the direction that other slasher icon origin story films have gone, and tell us too much about the killer and why he is the way he is. It takes away too much of the mystique of the "evil force that drives him". If its origin focus is on Pamela and Elias, I won't mind as much. As long as the film takes place at Crystal Lake, has interesting, creative and brutal kills with a high body count I'll walk away satisfied.

To be fair, Jason is one of the one's where that kind of works I think. Plus his motives are pretty clear anyway, namely revenge.

You could definitely say his initial motivation is revenge. I have always liked to think of Jason as an unstoppable killing machine that's sole purpose is to wipe out anyone or anything that gets in his way. It will be interesting to see what they come up with however I really don't want to see a whole portion of the film showcasing him being bullied and mistreated. Reminds me way too much of Zombie's bastardization of The Shape.

This being an "origins story" is why I'm skeptical of it actually happening in the first place. I love the character of Pamela Voorhees (despite being in one of the worst films of the series) but I'm not trying to see her in the spotlight, per se. There are ways to implement pieces of his backstory (i.e flashbacks) but a full on origins movie?

The fanbase isn't clamoring for that.

All I ever want from a F13 film is Jason, some creative kills, and some characters that are amusing to have around, and just as amusing to see get killed. Every time a F13 film has tried to mix things up story-wise it winds up being among the weakest the series has to offer, it's a franchise that thrives when it keeps things simple.

And I want them to set a F13 film during the winter already.

There are ways to keep the formulaic aspects of the series intact while introducing new elements. Problem is, they get shoddy writers/directors who have the worst ideas on the brain.

I guess, it is of course all in the execution and what the ideas are, but since I have a hard time putting a whole lot of confidence in the types of writers and directors that tend to get chosen for these kinds of films I prefer they not try and do their own thing and just keep things simple.

I can totally understand that sentiment. It really doesn't make sense to get writers who aren't known for being ultra creative and then to tell them "do something new."

As the past has shown us, it's resulted in some purely terrible ideas. The only times that something new was done that was executed in a good fashion were Jason coming back in part 6 as a zombie and the crossover with Freddy. FVJ isn't perfect, but it's certainly far better than the four endeavors that preceded it.

Also, I 100% agree about the winter comment. It's way past due for that to happen and would add a completely different aesthetic.

Why introduce him?
Is it going to go the same route as Rob Zombie's awful idea with Michael Myers & have Jason being an abused kid as well?
