The future of Quinten Tarantino

i don't think his style is suited for Bond. even though Bond has a lot of attitude, i don't recall seeing a Tarantino scene where the character is supposed to be suave and classy. all of his movies deal with rotten, corrupt, scummy-type characters. it would've been INTERESTING to see Tarantino direct Bond...but i'm not sure i would've liked it as a Bond film.

i heard you the first 3 times, twilight. you don't have to keep repeating it to me...

I agree with you on Bond. His style is too different for a Bond movie.

I really want him to go back to making the ganster flicks. No more kong fu and Kurt Russell chasing after women :(

Come on QT, I know you have it in you. Please go ahead with I.B! A great WWII film with attitude is just what he needs to put himself back on the map. Just stop doing action films with Rob Rod.

The problem of such filmmakers as QT (also, Shyamalan (sp?), Lucas and Coppola) is that they all start their career successfuly. Almost all their first movies become classic and masterpieces, but then they get a let down and stop trying to amaze audience making the same movies with the same formulas.

Personally, I think QT was a great director and screenwriter, but then after JB he lost his magic. I really liked Kill Bill, but it still didn't make me to believe that it was a masterpiece. What about Grindhouse: DP, it was his worst movie. I think he should change his filmmaking way and try a new direction (like what Fincher and Spielberg did)

[/quote

yes I said that I liked Tarantino better than recent Scorsese in the first post.

the second post was to halt any further arguments that would arise, because in the end it is about preference.
If you're going to quote me, quote the whole post.

I've been a Tarantino fan from the start, pre-Pulp Fiction. I think the main reason why most people see his work as having gone down hill since Pulp Fiction is because nothing has matched it. That's not to say Jackie Brown and Kill Bill 1 & 2 and Sin City weren't good, they just weren't as good as Pulp Fiction. His other post Pulp-Fiction productions; Four Rooms, From Dusk til Dawn, Hostel, and Deathproof; were all mediocre at best. It is clear that he should stay away from the horror genre.I still like Tarantino as a filmmaker and am looking forward to seeing his futurefilms.

Completely agree.

I wonder what other kind of genres/style he could try.

ive loved every one of his films... except jackie brown.. it had its moments but it was bleh.

his part of Four Rooms had one of the best endings in history....i died laughing.

cant wait for inglorious bastards

I think I've officially lost interest in QT, sadly. He's just so odd and can never figure things out for himself. And he is really over hyped with everything, people see his name and are drawn to it.

I like all his movies. And I don't think the Kill Bill movies are his best, but they are my personal favorites. So no, I'm not disappointed in his recent movies.

I just wish he'd stop ripping things off. You can only claim you are "paying homage" for so long before it becomes straight out copying.

If you rip everything from another film, no one will take it into account as long as your film is good, you can get away with calling it an "homage", if the film turns out crap, then you're screwed- Bob Gale

Though his words are true and some great movies do really rip some stuff from other films, it's still not the right way to create something new.

P.S. Gale is a great screenwriter, but after BTTF3 he has been lost in independent documentary films :(

Heh so true.
But yeah, thats my problem with QT. He uses the word "homage" as a shield to cover up the fact that he has no original ideas of his own and basically all of his movies are just various scenes ripped off from other movies.

After Death Proof I think he needs a break and refine his craft. I sat through Ghost Rider, but walked out halfway through DP. I couldn't sit through another 30 minutes of Tarantino "chick" dialoge, foot fetish being shoved in my face, and Zoe stroking.

i'm hoping his future involves an angry mob, a gallon of gasoline a match a bond fire and then a public pissing on of his ashes

he needs vinnie jones and inglorious bastards will definately rule hes probably taking his time for other actors schedules to clear up and certain people to be able to commit to this project .

anyway the last few minuted of deathproof kicked ass with zoe on the hood .

From Cinema Blend:
Tarantino's Western Will Be A Slavery Adventure
From The NY Daily News:
Quentin Tarantino: Brad Pitt does not smoke pot while acting; I don't smoke while directing
Rush & Molloy said:
Next up for Tarantino? "I'd like to do a Western. But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves. You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or, you could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it 'A Southern.'"

Also he is working on a film called

'Come drink with me'

"A ruthless band of thugs kidnaps a young official to exchange for their leader who has been captured. Golden Swallow (Cheng Pei-pei) is sent to take on the thugs and free the prisoner (who is also her brother). Though she is able to handle the overwhelming odds, she is hit by a poison dart and gets help from a beggar who is really a kung-fu master in disguise (Vueh Hua). With his help, she forms a plan to get her brother back"

The main character's name is Golden Swallow? Good lord, with that name it sounds like she's into drinking piss.
