i don't think it will bomb at all. I also made a poll if anyone wants to make a prediction

I can see it bombing, to be honest.

i can't see it bombing at all. in all honesty, all three movies have the potential to 'bomb'. The only hero with decent name reconigtion is Captain America, and even then, the public doesn't know a whole lot about him.

I could see it doing Transformers 1/Iron Man kind of numbers. I think the visual aspect of the constructs will really reel people in.

for me personally i do hope all the big comicbook movies of next year thor/cap/gl all do well. i hope for domestic figures we get between 200-500million each for their total film run in theaters. Then each hopefully getting between an additional 100-300million internationally.

i agree that GL could get Iron Man - Star Trek numbers.

I still don't know who will make the most money though out of the three without being bias.

I don't see it bombing, but I do think this will end up being the worst movie of the 3. Thor I think has a better cast and a great director, and Captain America I have a lot of confidence in. Especially now that the cast is rounding out, and they're making solid choices. Green Lantern I think has a good cast (not a great one), and I also find Hal to be the least interesting character of the 3 as a character. I mean, they had to add Green Arrow in the comics to give him a personality at one point.

I think GL will be a good movie. I just don't think it will be great.

Im kinda dumbfounded by your logic. Martin Campbell has been way more consistent than Johnston and Branaugh in terms of output. Most of his films are probably considered classics of the action genre. doesnt mean he'll do good with superheroes but so far the casting and other factors are pretty positive.

Branaugh is a great director, but he hasnt really tackled much in the 2000's that would give me extreme confidence in his abilities. Plus, he is known for Shakespeare adaptions, which he does great. Im sure he's good at adapting sources to film. Doesnt necassarily mean he can handle a big budget type action type film though. And johnston has cvarying quality in hsi films.

I think all 3 movies will be great and I trust all 3 directors. But ther eis no way to tell that GL will be the worst. They can all go either way IMHO but so far so good with them all (cap's problems aside). I just think its not so cut and dried that GL will be the least of em.

I can see Thor blowing people away, Cap being a little under the radar adn GL blowing away people as well, MAYBE JUST MAYBE more than Thor.

star trek (2009) was the first sci fi movie i've ever seen and i really enjoyed it. if they can balance out character development, great effects and a score like they did for that i think i'll end up really enjoying this movie

and in case anyone asks, i have never seen: startrek, star wars, matrix, etc

Its a toss up with these movies and I think GL could go either way like the rest of the three. All you can really hope for is to at least break 200 million to guarantee a sequel. Once we start to see trailers of the three you can at least get an idea of if it will look cheesy or not. Martin Campbell is a good director so hopefully he can pull out something spectacular. In the end though the better all three movies do the better it is for fans.

I'm sorry but you've never seen Star Wars :(..the good ones? I had a talk with a friend about this. At pre-Prequels, the originals to me were like classic Disney movies; you kinda had to watch them as a kid. If not, it's un-EArth like!

also, Back to the Future is sci fi too.

If this works the way I theorized it, this should make Star Trek or Star Wars numbers. What I am really hoping though is that it turns into a franchise not unlike either of the two (which means more $$$ than just one film).

for me i am not a huge fan of any of the 3 thor/cap/gl. And i think each have or are assembling solid casts. As for the directors each have had their share of good and bad films. But all i want is to see each of the characters to be treated seriously and brought to life faithfully. So i cant wait to see how all 3 do and i am sure each will probably come out well. Thor has most of may to work with, green lantern has june which may or may not be tricky, and if cap has legs it could dominate the month of aug due to be on the tail end of july.

if back to the future counts as sci fi, i have seen those movies

Unless it turns out to be some CBMP (Comic Book Movie Phenomenon,) like Spider-Man or [/i]The Dark Knight[/i], I doubt it will be a huge slam at the box office. If the film is decent, I'm sure it'll do well enough to get itself a sequel.

I watched them as kid. Than I grew up and realised they were crap. :oldrazz: :woot:

I love Back To The Future (all 3 of them).

surely blackest night is bring in a lot of new fans right? i've not read it yet but hear it is amazing

I'm sure it will do decent enough to warrant a sequel.

I think all the three have the potential to be massive hits.I think Captain America will do the least business because it's opening late and against TF3 and Harry Potter. Green Lantern could be hurt opening in mid june. I honestly think Thor might be the most financially successful.

This movie will easily break 75 million.
